Loose Fit of Hitch Receiver Light Mount for Vision X Solstice Solo Pod Lights # XIL-SRECEIVER

Updated 02/04/2015 | Published 02/03/2015

Question:

I purchased the hitch receiever light mount for vision x solstice solo pod lights pn# xil-sreceiver for my 2008 dodge Durango with factory hitch. I tried to install it and found that it is way to big to fit around the tube as showen in the picture in the box. I put the shoulder behind the lip on hitch and tightend bolts. there is quite a bit of room all the way around the hitch. I measured the mount at about 2 3/4 x 3 1/4. if I mount with shoulder on mount around lip on hitch I can get to tighten up more but there is nothing to keep the mount on if screws were to loosen. any help you can give me would be appreciated. thank you in advance

First, thank you for your recent purchase from etrailer of the Hitch Receiver Light Mount for Vision X Solstice Solo Pod Lights # XIL-SRECEIVER.

Since this product is a multi-fit design - it works with both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches - in certain applications its fit may be less than perfect right out of the box.

I can suggest a simple fix for you. Try placing wide rubber bands, like the type often found securing fresh vegetables at the grocery store, or similar flexible material like electrical tape, around the receiver tube where the bracket will install. This will take up the slack and also provide a degree of "shock-mounting" for the attached lights.

I do not suggest mounting it on the lip on the hitch tube because, as you noted, this lip helps prevent loss of the bracket by providing a stop point.
