Brake Controller Connector Location on a 2005 Toyota Sequoia

Question:
My 2005 Toyota Sequoia SR5 appears to have a factory installed tow hitch and 7 pin plug with a factory fuse box under the hood. I cannot find where the connector is located under the dashboard to plug the brake controller in to. Can you help? thank you

Expert Reply:
The brake controller harness on your 2005 Toyota Sequoia can be accessed by removing the kick plate near your emergency brake. The harness itself will be tucked up, and should be taped to another harness near the fuse block.
The installation video for the 2008 Toyota Sequoia shows in detail how to find the plug.
If you do not already have a brake controller, I would recommend the brake controller # 90885 and the correct wiring harness is # 3040-P, as it will offer a simple, plug-in installation.
Please note that if your 7-Way plug was not installed at the factory, you would actually need to hardwire the brake controller. You would be able to use the pigtail included with the # 90885 to hardwire the controller. I have included a link with some additional information on hardwiring a brake controller, if needed.
