Question:
I just bought a 2018 Tundra SR made in October. So far I have yet to find anyone who can put on a wiring harness and controller for breaking on this model. The answer I get is that toyota provided no plug for the harness on SR models made after August of 2018. Is this true? I hope not, because if so, I just bought a brand new 31,000 paperweight that cant pull my camper or my bobcat on a trailer.

For starters, you are going to want to remove the three button panel to the right of the steering wheel and look for a white rectangular connector with four pins. If present this is present then we do have a plug-in option available for you in the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV with the Curt Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers part # C51455.
If this plug is not present then your only option is to hardwire but the issue with this is obtaining the stop light switch which will need to be pulled from either the taillight assembly or the third brake light. This requires pulling interior panels apart and splicing wires which I am sure you do not what to do. Instead, I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # TK94FR.
The Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller is actually a really nice brake controller even when the wires for a brake controller are available. The Prodigy RF installs completely on the trailer and does not require any modifications to the tow vehicle which is especially important on a leased vehicle. It operates using radio frequency and has great features such as integrated safeguards that protect both the vehicle/trailer in the event of a fault.
I have attached a review/install video for you as well.
