How to Pick Out a Spare Tire, Tire Carrier, and Jack for a Small Utility Trailer

Question:

I have a Carry-On light ultility trailer with 13inch wheels. This is the mesh metal trailer that Lowes and TRC carry and it is 8x10. I need help choosing a spare tire and wheel, as well as a spare tire rack that will fit the 2x 2inch L-shaped frame that surrounds the bed. Id prefer to hang the spare off the side frame rails as Im not sure there is enough room to mount it on the tongue. From trailer bed to start of hitch assembly measures 27, and I measure the outer diameter of wheel and tire at 23. Id also like to add a simple tongue stand so that would need to go on the tongue somewhere. Looking forward to your trailer tire, tire rack, and stand product recommendations!

In order to pick out a spare tire for your utility trailer with 13 inch wheels you will need a couple more key pieces of information. You will need to know the bolt pattern of the 13 inch wheels and you will need to know the trailer tire's size. To determine the bolt pattern check out the link I attached to the right that details how to do this. The tire size will be stamped on the sidewall of the trailer like the picture I attached.

Once you know those two pieces of info check out the link I attached that will take you to a page that has all of the 13 inch wheels we carry. You will need to select your bolt pattern and tire size from the filters.

For a spare tire carrier that can mount to a 2x2 frame I would go with a u-bolt style like the part # CE22007Z-11050-2. This will allow you to install the spare on the frame basically anywhere you have room for it.

For a jack that you could use as a stand I would recommend the # PSEJ10000101 that can bolt to the side of the trailer frame and can swivel out of the way when not in use.
