You're headed to the next campsite, and in the chaos of packing up, you forgot to turn off your propane system. While on the road, someone rear ends you, causing a propane line to come loose, and you now run the risk of a fire breaking out on your RV. It's a dreaded situation that no one wants to suffer through.
Unlike EFVs and other built-in limiters that just reduce the flow of gas, GasStop shut-off safety valves immediately and completely shut off your gas supply when they detect either a major leak in your dual-tank propane system or major failure of your regulator. This protects both your family and your travel trailer or fifth wheel, ensuring that your camping trip remains safe, fun, and worry-free. And while these safety valves will shut off for major leaks such as a large break in a hose, they won't shut off for small leaks that result from your regulator's small housing failure or clogged chambers. This means that your furnace or heater won't go out in the middle of the night while camping in the frigid mountains over a small, less dangerous leak.
If your dual-tank propane setup is in a particularly small or cramped compartment, the 90-degree ACME connections on these rubber hoses make it quick and easy to hook up to your tanks. This helps prevent the hoses from bunching and puts less strain on them, which means they'll last longer. And you can put a cover over your propane tanks without the hoses snagging the fabric or stop it from fitting over the tanks altogether.
The integrated pressure gauges provide a clear and easy way to tell what your propane tanks' gas pressure is while the gas is being used. If it's on "high", there's been an increase in gas pressure, most likely due to excessive heat, and you'll have to cool the tanks down. If it's on "gas", then you'll know you still have plenty of usable gas left. And if it's on "low", then it's time to switch out your tanks. The gauges are also rotatable, so they can be used from any angle, though it is recommended to keep them no lower than 45 degrees from the sky.
The gauges can also be used to test for minor leaks. Once the GasStop safety valves has been installed and the gas appliances have been turned off, push down on the gauges 4 to 6 times to see what the gas pressure is. If the needles are below the red bar on the gauges, then one or more of the following is the cause: the cylinder valves aren't open, the GasStop safety valves have shut off, you have run out of gas, you haven't pushed the gauges the appropriate number of times, or the temperature is around freezing.
If the needles are above the red bar, note the exact position before turning off the valves on your propane tanks. Wait 60 seconds for standard applications and 5 minutes for longer RV gas systems. If the needles are in the same position, you can continue to use your propane system. If the needles dropped during that time, there is a leak somewhere. You shouldn't use your propane system until that leak has been found and repaired.
These GasStop safety valves are extremely simple to install. Once your tank-propane system and all of your gas appliances have been shut off, tighten the GasStop safety valves onto your propane tanks. The re-attached your regulator and install the hoses before checking for any leaks in your propane system. To allow the gas to flow, push down on the gauge faces 4-6 times.
Adding safety valves to both tanks means you'll still be protected from gas leaks even if one tank empties in the middle of the night and the regulator kicks over to the other tank. You won't have to manually move the valves over to the other tank in the morning as you would if you had just 1 valve.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this GasStop Emergency Propane Shutoff Set. So this set is going to give you two of these propane shutoff gauges and two of these 12-inch hoses so that you can get a gauge hooked up to each of your propane tanks, so you don't have to worry about switching it from one to the other, and when one goes empty and you're switching to the full one. So this setup is gonna help protect your family against major propane leaks and regulator failure. This will turn off your gas supply immediately if it detects either a major leak or a regulator failure. So unlike the safety devices that are built into your propane tanks themselves and into your hoses that shut off a majority of the propane but still allow a little bit to flow through, this is the only device that I know of that is going to shut off the flow 100%.
So if you we're to have a fire or something like that you don't have to worry about any propane getting to it and filling it. And so this is gonna help with your peace of mind and knowing that that will be completely shut off. So this does have the type one ACME fitting so it is gonna be compatible with your travel trailers and fifth wheels. We do have a different design for your class C type motorhomes that has the POL connection and so you wanna make sure you're getting the right one for your setup. This is for your fifth wheel and travel trailers here.
This does have a nice solid brass and reinforced polycarbonate construction, so it is going to resist corrosion and it's gonna hold up really well for you. You can see on the top side here, we do have this rotating pressure gauge that's going to give us a very quick view of the pressure in our tanks so we can see if we've got high pressure, sufficient gas and if we're getting low or near empty on our tank. This is also going to allow us to test for minor leaks. If we push down on this four to six times, it is going to reset the system so if we we're to have the leak, you can reset it so that propane still flows through there and you can turn off all your system and do that again and it will show you if that gauge moves at all, you know you've got a minor leak. So when I said that this will shut off 100% if there's a major leak, a major leak is really anything above normal use.
So it will allow all of your appliances to run. You won't have to worry about it shutting off, an error, but if there we're to be a leak beyond that, then this is gonna shut off. So it does a really good job for you, helps to give you that peace of mind knowing that everything's gonna be safe. Propane is kind of a scary material to be working with. You don't want it to combust when you don't want it to, so having this device on both of your tanks is gonna be a great way to give you that peace of mind knowing that everything's gonna be taken care of.
So these are very simple to get installed. You've got that type one ACME fitting that is just gonna tighten onto your existing propane tanks gas cylinder so that you've got that connection there. And then we've got our hoses and have that same fitting so we can easily thread that on there. Now as you can see, this is gonna add a little bit to your setup. Having this in line here when I measure it's about just over three inches. I'll call it three one eighth of an inch that you're gonna be adding in. So that's a great benefit to having this hose with the 90 degree angle there. So instead of having your hose that has to make a big a loop, this is gonna keep it nice and tight so it will help fit into your small or cramped spaces making sure that you can still put your cover over your propane tank without the hose snagging them. So that's a great benefit here. This is a 12 inch long gas gear rubber pigtail hose. So it will have a max flow capacity of 200,000 BTU and a 250 PSI maximum pressure rating. It's got the type one ACME connection on the one end, and then the other end is a quarter-inch male inverted flare, so it will fit into your regulator there. For our shutoff valve here, our overall dimensions we're looking at right about four inches long and then our height is gonna be from the bottom of our ACME fitting here to the top of our gauge and that is approximately two and three quarters of an inch tall. And then our width is gonna be our ACME fitting here, that's our widest point, so it's just shy of two inches call it one and seven eighths of an inch. So it won't add a whole lot to your setup but having that 90 degree angle on that hose is gonna definitely be a benefit for your tighter spaces if you are trying to get your cover on and that sort of thing. And like I said, having two sets can make it very easy to have them both running into your regulator if you've got a regulator that will accept that or you can very easily switch which hose is plugged in so you can make that process a little bit more streamlined for you. These do meet the UL and CSA standards so they are UL and CSA approved so you can trust they are gonna do a good job for you. It'd be nice quality and whatnot. So if you are looking for a little extra piece of mind when it comes to your propane, this is gonna be a great way to go knowing that it is going to shut off 100% of that flow if there we're to be a leak detected. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..
