Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the etrailer Ball Mount Kit

Today, we're going to review part number EBMK2416. This is the etrailer.com ball mount kit for the Class IV 2-inch hitch receivers. This ball mount kit will include all the parts pictured here. It includes the ball mount which is the Draw-Tite part number 40331. It includes the pin and clip which is part number PC3. It includes the 2 hitch balls.

We have this 2-inch hitch ball which is the Curt A-90 and the 2-5/16 hitch ball which is the Tow Ready part number 63840. Then, we also include the etrailer.com ball mount bag, part number ETBMB. Do you want to go over each one of these parts here We'll start with the ball mount. The ball mount is a one-piece forged construction. It is a solid shank, as you can see right here, very heavy in weight. It has a nice double powder coat finish.

It does fit the 2-inch class IV hitch receivers. It is designed, if you see the hole here, to be used as a hitch ball of a 1-1/4 inch shank diameter which both of these would be. The measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole would be 9-1/4 inches. Now, it does provide 4 inches of drop which you can see in that position right here as measured from the top of the ball platform to the top of the shank, so it'll give you 4 inches of drop. If you do flip it over and put it in the rise position, measure from the top of the platform to here will give you a maximum rise of 3 inches. Now, this ball mount is rated up to 16,000 pounds gross towing weight capacity and up to 2,400 pounds ton weight capacity.

The ball platform itself is 1 inch thick and 3 inches wide, so it does require a hitch ball shank that is at least 2-1/4 inches long, and again, both of these will fit that. If you'll notice on the very back of the shank it has an angled cut to it and that will help as far as loading in to the hitch receiver opening. Now, so far we have the hitch balls. We have the 2-inch size. This is a Curt hitch ball 2-inch size. The diameter is 2 inches, but the shank diameter is 1-1/4 inches.

The shank length is 2-5/8 inches. It is designed to fit a ball mount, which is a 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick, which this one would work fine. It does have a weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. The other hitch ball is the Tow Ready. This is a 2-5/16 diameter hitch ball. The shank diameter down here is 1-1/4 inches. The shank length is 2-3/4 inches. Again, this is designed to fit ball mounts from 3/8 inch to 1 inch thick, which this one would work fine. It has a capacity of 20,000 pounds and they do both come with their lock washer and the nut to install them with. Now, we also have the pin and clip, which is this part right here. Once you install this into your hitch receiver, you slide the pin and clip through the hitch opening to lock it in to your hitch receiver. Now, all these parts can be stored in the etrailer.com ball mount bag. This will conveniently store your ball mounts or also works great for any trailering equipment like tie down straps, bungee cords, things like that. It is made of a durable nylon construction, which will provide years of use. At the top here you can see it has a no-hassle zipper closure. There's also a handle for transporting it around, right up here. The bag dimensions on this is 16-1/4 inches long, 5-1/4 inches high, and about 4 inches wide. Basically, you could put everything in here to store or put the ball mount in there, put the pin and clip, and we'll be able to put both hitch balls in there. You'll be able to close it and you're ready to go. That should do it for the review on part number EBMK2416, the etrailer.com ball mount kit for the Class IV 2-inch hitch receivers. .

  • Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2016 Ram 1500
For your 2016 Ram 1500 you can use Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 41948. It has a tongue weight capacity of 1,500 pounds and gross trailer weight capacity of 12,000 pounds so it will cover the weights of the loaded trailers that you have. At least I am pretty sure. I just don't know how much a 1958 Massey Ferguson tractor weighs! I want to say in the neighborhood of 5,000 to 6,000 pounds but I suppose it depends on the exact model. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation...

  • Will Curt Hitch # C15300 Fit 1979 Ford F-150 Long Bed with Standard or Step Bumper
Yes, the Curt Class V trailer hitch you referenced, part # C15300, is a confirmed fit for your 1979 Ford F-150 long bed with standard or step bumper and 37-1/2-inch wide frame. Installation will require some drilling and temporary removal of the spare tire. An install video is linked for you. For a wiring harness you can use Draw-Tite # 18252 which provide a 4-pole flat trailer connector for your trailer lights. A great option in a ball mount kit is item # EBMK2416 which includes a ball...

  • What Size is the Hole for the Shank of the Hitch Ball on the etrailer Ball Mount Kit?
Hey Carlos. The etrailer Ball Mount Kit item # EBMK2416 has a 1-1/4" ball hole diameter for the shank and fits a 2" receiver. This kit includes both 2" and 2-5/16" hitch balls. It also has a hitch pin and a carrying bag. The ball mount itself has a 16,000 lbs capacity and offers a 3" rise or 4" drop. The 2" hitch ball is limited to a 10,000 lbs capacity but the 2-5/16" ball will give you the full 16,000 lbs capacity. The etrailer Ball Mount Kit item # EBMK2416 comes with everything you...

  • Trailer Hitch for a 1979 Chevy C-10 with Trailering Special Package
Actually several of your pictures did make it through! What you have there is the standard/step bumper on your 1979 Chevy C-10. Deep drop bumpers, also called cowboy bumpers, drop way down. If your truck has an 8 foot bed you can use Curt trailer hitch # C14082. If you have a 6 foot bed you would need hitch # e88AR.. If you go with the Curt hitch then I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK2416. It comes with a ball mount with a 3 inch rise/4 inch trop, a 2 inch ball, 2-5/16 inch...

The mounting holes are slightly different between Curt trailer hitch # C14006 and # 14301. I have included a side by side picture that shows this. Otherwise they have the same capacities. I have linked instructions for both hitch for you. If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK2416. • What Does Hitch Not Rated for Use with Weight Distribution Mean for a Trailer Hitch
A trailer hitch that is not rated for use with weight distribution means that the hitch cannot be used with any type of weight distribution system because of its bracket design (short brackets on this hitch) and they could have also found in testing that it does not hold up well with weight distribution. This hitch is also made for cab and chassis models of the 2003 GMC Sierra so if you have a regular pickup this hitch will not fit. If you do have a cab and chassis model then Curt trailer...

  • Comparing Draw-Tite 41944 and Curt C15321 Trailer Hitches for 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Short Bed
First, for both Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 41944, and Curt trailer hitch # C15302, the receivers will be located directly beneath the rear bumper. Take a look at the video I have linked showing a typical installation of the Draw-Tite hitch as an example of the location. Both hitches feature a black powder coat over a base e-coat for corrosion resistance. They are on par with each other in this respect as well. The main difference between these 2 hitches is the capacities. The Curt hitch...

I went out to the warehouse and measured the CURT Trailer Hitch, # 14301. Starting with the front to back measurements of the holes on the same side, from the first hole, nearest the back of the vehicle to the center hole measures 6-1/2 inches on center. From the center hole to the hole closest to the front of the vehicle measures 5 inches on center. From side to side the holes are 39 inches apart on center. You did not mention if your 2013 Chevy Silverado was a 1500, 2500, or 3500 so I can provide recommendations for all 3. For a 1500 I recommend Curt trailer hitch # 14301. There is no drilling or trimming required for installation of this hitch. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you. For a 2500 or 3500 series short bed I recommend B&W hitch # BWHDRH25601. Again there is no drilling or trimming required. The version for long bed models is # BWHDRH25600 and there is...

  • Highest Capacity Trailer Hitch for a 1986 Chevy K30 Cab and Chassis Truck
For a cab and chassis style 1986 Chevy K30 the highest capacity hitch would be # 41947 that you have referenced from Draw-Tite. Because the truck now has an 8 foot bed on it and another hitch, I cannot guarantee that it will fit. You will need to take a look at the instructions I have linked to determine if the attachment points required are free. If you can use the hitch I recommend the etrailer ball mount # EBMK2416. If you need a hitch for a 2006 Ford E-350, the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Cast Center - Custom Fit - Class V - 2" # 41945 you were looking at is a great choice that will give you a Class V hitch on your Ford van. If your 1989 Chevy truck is a cab and chassis model (these are the ones that come without beds that are then turned into service vehicles, flat beds, and that sort of thing) then hitch # 41947 will fit for sure. But apparently, for 1989, Chevy trucks with a long bed and crew cab had a 34 inch frame width. So in this generation of GM trucks there are some pickup models that have the 34 inch frame. When it comes to getting a trailer hitch, it never hurts to have a hitch that is over-rated for the cargo that it will be pulling. I spoke with my contact at Curt about trailer hitch # C15410. The holes, one on each side near the bottoms of the brackets, are drain holes. The hitch is not painted or powder-coated. It goes through a dip process and the holes let the excess coating drain out. So the hitch actually looks the same on the inside as it does on the outside.
