The combination of an e-coat base and a powder coat finish provides excellent rust protection.I wanted a hitch on the Mach e for a 1Up bike rack. This hitch fit my '23 Premium AWD perfectly and looks like a factory install when complete. The installation was one of the easier ones I've done.
Two comments on the installation:
- For step 2, "Detach Wiring Harness Clip", I couldn't find a harness that looked anything like that on mine, and I was able to install the hitch without detaching anything. Maybe that step applies to a different trim level than mine.
- For step 3, "Trim lower fascia", I wasn't able to get it to cut with a utility knife as the instructions state. I ended up using a cutting disc with my Dremel.
I cannot believe etrailer just puts three wraps of plastic on this and throws it in a cardboard box. Mine arrived falling out of the box and zero hardware. Lame is being nice. Incompetent…maybe
FYI, this is the first time I've installed my own trailer hitch. This is definitely a two person job to get this installed. You have to do a cut out of the plastic underneath the bumper so the receptacle can come out. I wasn't sure of the best tooling so I used a jigsaw but I'm sure there is a better tool for the job.
I'd recommend 2 people and jack up the car, the Mustang Mach-E sits pretty low to the grown so getting under it is a challenge.
After installation, it works great, used it for extra storage for luggage and a rack for our bikes.
Great instructions and product. Fit perfectly on my MachE. Spring wires provided make it much easier.
I elected not to do the rear most 8" cut across the cover and folded it up the waste over the receiver hitch instead. If I choose to remove the hitch in the future I will only have to worry about the 2 seams.
Install was relatively quick and painless. It took me just over 2 hours and was pretty straightforward without any surprises. It was definitely easier with a second person helping.
Install was a breeze if you have some experience. Definitely two person job to hold in place and bolt, but start to finish was only about an hour laying in the driveway under some ramps. Have a pretty steep driveway that clearance was a concern but clears fine still.
Excellent build quality and a tough finish.
The gloss level is rather high and nicely matches the black lower trim on the bumper cover.
Straight forward, simple install that took about 1.5hrs with 2 people (waayyyy easier to have 2 seta of hands
Perfect fit.
The design and construction seem good. Installation isn't too difficult, but it requires two people. There is a somewhat annoying problem with the one I received. Large areas were missing paint. I suspect it came from the factory missing paint, if that much came off during shipping I assume I would have seen paint chips in the box. I felt compelled to get a can primer and touch it up before installing it. That gives me some concerns about the long term corrosion resistance.
Once it was touched up and installed it gave me enough clearance with my 1 Up heavy duty double bike rack to open and close the back hatch without hitting. The hands free gate sensor still works with the hitch installed.
I really want to like it more, but the missing paint makes it hard to be enthusiastic about recommending this product.

I will make sure to have our customer service team reach out to you. When the hitches are shipped to us they are shipped stacked together in large pallets which means that at times they arrive in less than ideal condition. I recommend touching up the affected area with a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum.

Good quality product. instructions were very helpful.
However of the 4 bolts that came with the hitch, one bolt was an incorrect size and the nut would not fit with the bolt. This bolt also did not have the locking flange on it to avoid spinning while tightening. I was able to find a replacement bolt elsewhere.

After having this hitch for a year it is holding up great, no rust or paint chipping. Totally happy
Installation was quick and easy
Beautiful hitch. Installed easily by my self.
