Video Transcript for Complete Breakdown of the 2" Hitch Ball-C40034

Today, we are going to be taking a look at the CURT trailer ball. So this trailer ball is a little special. What makes it special Is this right here. You can actually get two inches of rise, just by putting this ball on our ball mount. So our ball mount is a four-inch drop and a two-inch rise. But with this, we're actually kind of swapping it around.

We're going to have a two-inch drop and if we flipped it around, we'll have a four-inch rise. So that's kind of crazy how just one ball can completely change what your ball mounts gonna do for you. So if you liked the ball mount, or you just like, "It gets the job done, why do I need a new one I just need an extra inch or two." This is really going to shine for that. We also have some that are only going to be about an inch. So whatever tickles your fancy, just go ahead and grab whatever size is gonna be right for you.

This one is a two-inch rise, but it's also a two-inch ball. So just look on your coupler, make sure it's the same size. And then also take into consideration, that this thing has a capacity of 6,000 pounds. So with our ball mounts 7,500, and then the ball is 6,000. So the lower number of the two is going to be the max of what we can use with this setup.

So 6,000 pounds for this setup. You wanna make sure that you pair that up. And that's one of the things you need to kind of look for. Also, another thing you need to look for is the hole on your ball mount that you have or the ball mount that you're gonna get it needs to be an inch in diameter because the shank is an inch in diameter. We don't want it any bigger because there'll be so much play.

And then anything smaller, of course, is not really going to fit. So that's two things that you need to look for whenever you kind of pairing this up because this thing by itself isn't going to do anything. You need a ball. We have a lot of different options on our website, so just figure out what you need, figure out exactly what you want, and then etrailer's here to hook you up. There really isn't a whole lot when it comes to trailer balls, this was just super awesome. 'Cause, it has that extra rise there. Made of steel. And if you we're to maybe add something else to the setup, just grab some grease just to keep this ball nice and shiny for all the years of use that you're going to do with it. All in all, this is gonna be a great option for ya. And again, this was the CURT two-inch rise, two-inch trailer ball..

  • Is There A Zero Drop/Rise Ball Mount That Has A Sway Control Tab?
Hi Joshua! I do have a couple potential option for you, but we do not have any ball mounts with no drop or rise that will work for this purpose. With that said, you could go with one of the two options below: Option 1: Curt Ball Mount w/ Sway Control Tab for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs # D320 Curt 2" Hitch Ball - 2" Rise - 1" Diameter x 2-1/8" Long Shank - 6,000 lbs # C40034 Option 2: Curt Ball Mount 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop - 12-5/8" Long # D-26 Reese Sway-Control Bracket...

  • What Tool is Normally Used for Torqueing Down Hitch Balls
The amount of torque needed for the hitch ball you have installed on your Blue Ox weight distribution will be based on the hitch ball you have. Some require a great deal of torque like the Curt hitch balls like the # C40034 that require 450 ft lbs whereas some require less than that. We don't normally recommend impact wrenches but we do normally recommend longer torque wrenches. Since those can be expensive the best option might be to see if an auto parts store can loan you one.

  • How to Get a Little More Height When Installing the Stealth Hitches SH33VR
The Stealth Hitch # SH33VR will definitely fit your 2018 BMW 328d xDrive Sports Wagon, but the included ball will only get you to 18 1/2 inches when measuring from the ground to the top of the ball. I went through all our replacement parts for Stealth Hitches, but this will be the highest rise they offer. That being said, I did find an option that will get you to the needed height. The Curt Hitch Ball # C40034 will actually raise the ball up 2 more inches. This would replace the ball that...

  • How to Get a Ball Mount with 0 inches of Rise or Drop
In order to get a ball mount that has effectively 0 inches of rise or drop you would need to get a Trailer Hitch Ball Mount, part # D-4, like the one you referenced that has a 2 inch drop, and then use a 2 Inch High Rise Ball, part # C40034. I attached links to FAQ articles on ball mounts and hitch balls below for you to check out also.

  • How to Increase Height of Hitch Ball by 2-Inches
Thank you for your recent purchase including an extra-long Curt 2-inch ball mount # D-26. This particular ball mount offers a choice of 3/4-inches of rise or 2-inches of drop relative to the hitch receiver opening. If you need an extra-long ball mount with 4-inches of rise to keep your hitched trailer level with the ground then you can use Curt # D-28 which provides a choice of 4-inches of rise or 6-inches of drop. The linked article will help you confirm just how much rise or drop you...

  • How To Tighten the Curt 2" High Rise Hitch Ball C40034 To 450 Ft. Lbs.
There are torque wrenches available that can apply 450 ft. lbs of torque that is needed for the 2" High Rise Hitch Ball part # C40034. However, these torque wrenches can be very expensive and not easily attainable therefore we generally just recommend that you place some sort of large pry bar on your wrench/ratchet and then tighten as much as you can.

  • Installation and Torque of 1-1/4 Inch Shank Hitch Ball onto Ball Mount
That foot pound rating for torqueing a hitch ball onto a ball mount requires a special torque wrench. A local mechanic should have something compatible. If you can't find anyone with the correct torque wrench as many max out at 250 lbs, then we recommend using a breaker bar and pipe extension to at least ensure the lock washer is completely compressed to flat before use. Installing the ball mount sideways in the receiver tube will allow the best hold (although without pin obviously)...

  • Replacement Hitch Ball to Increase Ball Height
It is always important to keep your trailer level when hitched to your tow vehicle and the two simplest ways to accomplish this are either a high-rise hitch ball such as the two you reviewed, parts # C40033 and # C40034, or a ball mount with the amount of rise you need. Either option will work. The hitch balls you referenced are shown in the linked photo; I have added the dimension above the mounting surface for each ball. If you have a 2-inch hitch receiver and want to use your existing...

  • Does Hitch Ball Height Factor in to Determining Rise/Drop Calculation for Picking Out Ball Mount
When determining rise you don't need to factor in the height of the hitch ball unless it's a high rise ball. The rise calculation is done by taking the measurement from the top of the hitch opening down to the ground and comparing it to the distance from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when sitting level. In relation to the ball mount the dimension would be from the bottom of the ball mount platform to the top of the shank of the ball mount like in the picture I attached. An...

  • How to Order a Ball Mount for 0 inches of Rise/Drop
You are correct, you do need a zero rise/drop setup to tow your trailer level. In order to get a ball mount that has effectively 0 inches of rise or drop you would need to get a Trailer Hitch Ball Mount, part # D-4, like the one you referenced that has a 2 inch drop, and then use a 2 Inch High Rise Ball, part # C40034. Otherwise none of our ball mounts are designed for an exact 0 rise/drop.

  • Is A Taller 2 Inch Hitch Ball Available For A Class I Hitch
I went out to our warehouse to measure the height of the Tow Ready Hitch Ball, # 63802, and found that it is 3-1/2 inches tall from the ball mount surface to the top of the ball. This hitch ball has a 1 inch shank diameter. You need to measure the diameter of the shank hole for the hitch ball on your Class I hitch to see if it has a 1 inch or 3/4 inch diameter. Most of the Class I and Class II ball mounts have a 3/4 inch hole for the hitch ball. If it has a 3/4 inch diameter, you could...

Since the hitch height and trailer height are the same you would need a ball mount with no rise or drop. But let's make sure you are measuring the same way we do. I have attached an image to assist. If this doesn't provide the height you need we also have the 2" ball available with an additional 1" rise with part # C40033 or an additional 2" rise with # C40034. • Is a High Rise Hitch Ball Needed To Tow With The Bumper On a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado
That is a great question but I am afraid this is not something that we have been able to test our self that way we cannot confirm this for you and it would also be dependent on the height of your trailer coupler. However, if you feel the 2" of extra clearance is enough to help keep the coupler off the plastic rear fascia then we do have an option for you but this will be dependent on what size hole you have for the shank and what size hitch ball is needed. When we installed 2-inch Curt Class III hitch # 13354 on a 2009 MDX we found that the top of the receiver opening was indeed 17-inches above ground, although this can vary slightly from car to car depending on the amount of tread wear and factors like passenger and cargo weight.
