Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Americana High Pressure Rubber Snap-In Valve Stem

Today we're going to review part number AM20904. This is a high pressure rubber snap-in valve stem. it has a maximum inflation pressure of 80 psi and it has an effective length of 1 1/2" long. These tubeless snap-in valves for high pressure applications are designed for medium and heavy duty trucks and trailers. These valves must be used when a recommended cold inflation pressure on the tire exceeds 65 psi. These high pressure snap-in valve stems for wheels with the .453 rim hole, which is what this valve stem would fit in to, allows a maximum cold inflation pressure of 80 psi. These are typically used in steel wheels.

High pressure snap-in valve stems will combine a thicker rubber snap-in base right here with the metal barrel and has the plastic cap. Again I mentioned the effective length on this is 1 1/2" and that's actually measured once it's installed in the wheel so the effective length is actually going to be measured from where it comes through the wheel to the top of the cap. If we put a ruler on this, it'd be a good idea, you can see the inch and a half effective length. That should do it for the review of part number AM20904, the high pressure rubber snap-in valve stem with the maximum 100 psi inflation and the 1 1/2" effective length. .

Great price and fast shipping I will do business with etrailer again

by:

This is a nice valve stem recommended by etrailer but, did not fit the wheel I ordered.

by:

looks heavy duty, great quality for the price .fit great and quick shipping, Thanks !

by:

Have good experiences with website/research/ordering process, fast shipping, communication, and good product. Will definitely do business again!

by:

Not much most people can say about a valve stem. Its seals well, installs easily, never had a problem using these on either of my trailers.

by:

Beautiful wheels and nice tires, shipped quickly at a good price.

by:

Simple product but these valve stems look to be of high quality. They work well for Load Range D tires.

by:

They seem to have popped right into the steel trailer wheels I bought, and appears to be holding air. Only time will tell!

by:

Quick shipping and product as described. Make sure to check that you have the correct PSI valve stem when you buy trailer tires.

Have your trailer tires balanced it makes a difference.

by:

Customer service was excellent. Ordered the wheel over the July 4th holiday and received it in 3 days. Shipping was upgraded from 5 day to 3 day delivery with no cost to me. Wheel fit perfectly and now I am good to go with a spare tire for my trailer.

by:

Use these in my Ranger boat trailer tires, which are set at 50psi. Solidly made and I keep a few spares just in case, but have never had to replace a stem that I have purchase from etrailer.

by:

Simply great product.

by:

These valve stems to appear to be high quality looking. They fit perfectly, and are rated to 80psi. One did not make it in the shipment. The peps at E-trailer immediately sent another one. The ups to usps was not that good; it took over 5 business day to get it.

by:

Have held up well with over 7000 miles on wheels. Tire Minder TPMS installed on these perfectly and worked well.

by:

The wheels arrived double boxed with internal rim protectors and were in perfect condition. The finish and detail are excellent with no blemishes on the outer surfaces that you see once the rim is mounted. Shipping was fast and ordering very easy. I had some questions on the product and Patrick O. helped me with them. Patrick and etrailer made this process very easy. This is my second purchase from etrailer and I am very satisfied with both experiences. Thanks.

by:

eTrailer does what they say they will do. good products, prices and prompt delivery. As an ASE certified mechanic I highly recommend them. Most folks do some sort of preventative maintenance on their vehicles but trailers, tow behind trailers and RV's don't usually get maintenance until something fails. I call this reactive maintenance rather than pro active preventative maintenance. Tires, wheel bearings and electrical systems are highly neglected until a failure occurs.

by:

Thanks eTrailer and Suzanne T. for great service and a good product. Order was placed on a Friday and received shipment the following Tuesday.
My order was for Dexstar wheels AM20522, center caps 319EZ-SS, and valve stems AM20904.
The only reason I did not give an excellent rating was because of minor paint blems and knicks on the face of the wheels. Nothing major at all.
The ole trailer looks good with fresh wheels, tires, center caps, and valve stems.

by:

First of all, I want to say that eTrailer is an awesome bunch of people to work with. They know their stuff, have great products and excellent instructional video's. I ordered new rims and complete brake assemblies and they were perfect. The shipping was extremely fast, the fit and function was exact and the brake assembly was as easy as the video made it out to be. Thank you VERY much for your help, great prices and excellent customer service. I am a customer for life! Thank you!

by:

Bought these valve stems to go along with the wheels purchased. Paired with D range tires and inflation pressure at 65 psi, these valve stems have performed nicely and not a single problem. I would not hesitate to buy these again.

by:

installed as expected. I only have 10 miles on the valve stem. They are staying together so far!

As always, etrailer performs top notch. Great delivery and great service.

It is still working as expected. It was a simple process to order the valve stem, take it with me to the tire shop, and have it installed when I had my tires installed.

by:

I had to upgrade the load rating on my trailer tires which required 80lbs PSI the original stems where rated for only 65lbs so I upgraded the stems to increase tire PSI was easy to install and have worked with no problems

by:

It was exactly the parts I was looking for

by:

Well made and fit my Intech Flyer Explore alloy wheels perfectly.

  • Can I Determine the psi Rating of a Wheel
Since wheels will be able to withstand the psi rating of any of the tires that are meant to fit it you will need to look at the valve stem as that is the deciding factor. If your valve stem has the rubber all the way up to the threads, like part # AM20903, then it will be rated around 65 psi. If there is some reinforcement between the rubber and the threads, like part # AM20904 or # AM20907, then your valve stem can be rated between 80 and 100 psi. The only valve stems that are rated for...

  • How To Determine The Trailer Wheel Replacement Needed
There are a few measurements needed to ensure you get the correct wheel replacement, but it is difficult to determine from just a picture. I've attached articles to help with the proper fit by measuring the bolt pattern of your wheel, the width from bead seat to bead seat, and the diameter. If you need further help, send me the photos and the dimensions you have and I'd be happy to assist.

  • What Is The Max PSI Rating for a Lionshead Jaguar Wheel?
Hey John, welcome back and thanks for all the information! The Lionshead wheels like the Aluminum Liger item # LH98VR you were looking at, don't have a max PSI rating but the valve stems that typically come with them item # AM20904 top out at 80 psi. I recommend checking your valve stems and if necessary replacing them with the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem item # AM20906. These are rated for over 200 PSI so they will work with your 110 PSI tires. If you have any additional questions,...

  • What Is The Max PSI Rating For The Aluminum Liger Trailer Wheel LH98VR
Hello Kevin, thanks for reaching out. The Aluminum Liger Trailer Wheel # LH98VR itself does not have a specific PSI rating. It can handle the PSI of any 16" Tire. The PSI rating is determined by the valve stem. The # LH98VR wheel comes with a high-pressure rubber valve stem similar to part # AM20904 which is rated for up to 80 PSI. If you need to go higher than that, you will need to swap them out for a metal valve stem like the Americana Metal Valve Stem # AM20906. These are rated for...

  • Do Tire Valve Stems Come Included with Tires That Are Purchased Unmounted
Tires that are sold alone, not pre-mounted on a rim/wheel, do not include valve stems but we do offer these as separate items. Tires that are pre-mounted and sold with a rim/wheel do of course include the valves. I have linked you to the various parts available, which include both metal and rubber types and in various psi ratings, such as # AM20906.

  • Can Load Range D Trailer Tire Size ST205/75R14 Replace Tires on 2015 R-Pod Model 178
We have a Load Range D trailer tire in size ST205/75R14 as part # AM10235. This tire will fit easily on your current rim since this is the same size as what you have. It actually requires 75 psi which we have the valve stem part # AM20904 which is rated for 80 psi that you could use with it. Your valve stems will get replaced when you take the wheel to a tire shop to have the tires mounted. Most likely they'd have the correct valve stem, but if not the # AM20904 will also work.

As is, no it cannot. The valve stem that comes included with the Liger Trailer Wheel # LH34FR is only rated up to 65 psi so you would need to swap it out to either the 80 psi # AM20904 or the # AM20906 which is rated to over 100 psi (if you wanted one that was over rated).

If you prefer the metal valve stems, we do carry those as part # AM20906. If you go that route, I recommend getting the tires and wheel separately, then having a shop install the valve stems and mount the tires for you. Here are 2 different options for a valve stem: - Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long # AM20906, this is a heavy duty valve stem that can handle over 100 psi - Americana High Pressure Rubber Snap-In Valve Stem - 1-1/2" Long # AM20904, still pretty heavy duty, up to 80 psi For a Cap you can go with either...

If your trailer tires require more than 80 PSI, I'd recommend replacing it with the Metal Valve Stem # AM20906. This is a bolt-in valve stem designed for a 0.453-inch valve stem hole and is rated for pressures over 100 PSI, making it a better choice for higher-pressure trailer tires. Hey Thomas, thanks for reaching out! The Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20428 actually doesn't have a PSI rating, as it can handle the PSI rating of any tire that fits it. The limiting factor for it will be the valve stem you choose to install on it. I recommend either going with the Rubber Valve Stem # AM20904 rated for up to 80 PSI, or the Metal Valve Stem # AM20906 rated for up to 200 PSI. Which one would you rather go with?

Hey Glen, There are 5.30-12 tires on a galvanized, 5-lug rim that are 8-ply, but none that are 10 ply. If that's ok, you can go with the Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # AM30861. If you want a 12 inch tire that is 10 ply you'd have to go with a different size, 145R12; this doesn't come in a combo, so you'd need to get the tire and wheel (and valve stem) separate, and what you'd need is the following: - Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12...

The max psi rating is specific to each tire as it is tested, so you cannot simply increase tire pressure to get a higher speed rating or increase weight capacity. Your tires could overheat or wear quickly because they are not designed for that pressure rating. Overheating is the number one cause of tire failure including blow outs and it is almost always due to improper inflation or traveling over the speed rating of the tire.
