Valve Stem Material for Lionshead Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel

Question:

Does this wheel LH34ZR come with the valve stem as pictured and if so, is the valve stem metal?

Thanks for your question Tom. The # LH34ZR comes with a rubber snap-in valve stem that's rated for 80 PSI and fits a 0.453-inch valve stem hole, like # AM20904. If your trailer tires require more than 80 PSI, I'd recommend replacing it with the Metal Valve Stem # AM20906. This is a bolt-in valve stem designed for a 0.453-inch valve stem hole and is rated for pressures over 100 PSI, making it a better choice for higher-pressure trailer tires.

Out of curiosity, what type of trailer are you replacing the wheels on?

I'm putting them on my toy hauler, GVWR 11,000 pounds. I put on steel valve stems because I run a TPMS system with valve cap transmitters. BTW, the TPMS saved us when one of my old made in China rims began to split.

@TomG That makes sense and thanks for sharing—that's a great reminder of why those systems are worth having.
