Stabilizing strap provides extra support when carrying your bike rack or cargo carrier. Cam buckle design allows for secure connection and easy release between your vehicle and hitch accessory. Vinyl-coated hook won't scratch your vehicle.

Features:

  • Strap provides extra support for your hitch receiver when you use a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier
    • Limits torque placed on hitch receiver by heavy accessory
    • Evenly distributes weight to stabilize hitch accessory and prevent bouncing
  • Cam buckle design allows for quick connection and release
    • Attach one end to the bike rack and the other end to the vehicle
    • Pull strap through the cam buckle and towards front of the vehicle to increase tension for a secure fit
  • Vinyl-coated hook won't scratch your vehicle

Specs:

  • Dimensions: 61" long x 1" wide
  • Quantity: 1 strap
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Note: Remove the hook before opening or closing the hatch or trunk to avoid damage to your vehicle.

This strap is recommended for use with bike racks and other hitch-mounted accessories to avoid putting too much strain on your trailer hitch. Some Class I and Class II 1-1/4" hitches may require that you use a stabilizing strap to ensure that the hitch does not experience excessive torque while transporting your gear.

This strap is easy to use and I appreciate the peace of mind I have while driving knowing there is extra support of my hitch mounted bike rack. The Velcro fastener makes it easy to bundle the strap’s “tail” so it doesn’t drag while driving.

Strap accessory is still working great, I store it in my trunk. I don’t know whether the strap would leave a rub mark on my trunk lid, so just to be safe I cut an 8”-12” piece of pool noodle that has a hole through its center and I position the foam noodle over the corner of the trunk lid before tightening down this strap. It has worked just fine and there is not rub mark.

by:

This simple strap has helped reduce most of the swaying and bouncing in our hitch mounted Thule bike rack. I like the little velcro loop to bundle up the excess length - it works great. My only complaint is that the strap rubs against my Subaru Outback near the top of the hatch and has marred the paint finish a little, but we have used it a few times for long trips between PA and ME, and maybe that's to be expected. That said, I would definitely buy it again!

I use use a Curt Hitch "Flat Carrier"
https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Cargo-Carrier/Curt/C18110.html
for
loads on my 2005 Prius.
Bought the recommended support strap and liked the way it took the up-down bounce stress off the hitch, but the carrier still wobbled left to right, rotating slightly within the hitch receiver. Bought a second strap and the two stabilized the load very nicely. I needed a light cord between the two straps at the top of the hatch door to encourage them not to slide off the corners of the door.

I am quite pleased with our flat carrier. We keep the loads low enough & centered enough to not block the brake lights and the license plate. Weve used it to carry bikes as well.

by:

The Cam buckle keeps the bike rack from bouncing, so I would assume (I know) that should put less stress on the bike rack over time.

by:

The strap helped to stabilize the bike rack .. Strong & sturdy .. If you get the bike rack & hitch spend the extra for this ... Worked great on my 2013 vw beetle convertible ..

Product works great just like day 1. I look forward to many years of use when maintained properly.

by:

We were very impressed with the quality of the Curt Trailer hitch we purchased, its price and how quickly it arrived.
We had the hitch installed by a very good local mechanic for a fraction of the cost quoted by our Honda dealer.
The hitch support strap that was recommended works perfectly with this hitch.
We highly recommend this hitch to anyone.

by:

I love how this fits in the top of the hatch. Store my cargo carrier from rattling when either loaded or empty. Bought 2 because we transfer the carrier to another vehicle sometimes.

by:

Your install videos rock!
Great selection
of products, with lots of honest reviews.
Excellent support with domestically based agents.

by:

Install was very easy, instructions were clear.

Be sure to use WD-40 to loosen up the muffler attachments. That one step alone made this job easier than I expected.

This hitch is used to attach a goal post, so I can carry my kayaks on top.

Great customer service, the best.

by:

Box to hitch 1 minute.
2 ebikes and
ready to roll 10 minutes.
A whole new world has opened up. This is absolutely the easiest, most versatile rack ever. At 65, my days of putting a light bike on a roof rack are over. This will handle almost anything.
The service and attention to detail was amazing. The eTrailer team seems like friends at the local bike shop. BUY IT HERE!
Gotta go, mountains to ride.

by:

We used our new hitch thanks to etrailer.com !

The bike rake fit perfectly .. we used the support strap too!

Off we go!

by:

Purchased this strap as a backup support for the bike rack that I will be using with my new etrailer hitch.

by:

I've used etrailer.com before, and the service is excellent. The step-by-step video showing the receiver installation on my model year car was extremely helpful.

by:

Can hold my five bikes easily

They
are hybrid trail bikes.

Have to check weight limit for 5th bike.

I bought two stabilizer straps just for piece of mind. They certainly won't hurt

by:

I've been using the hitch for my bike rack and it has been performing as expected. Absolutely no problems. A little harder to install than expected, but with a little help from friends it is still where it belongs.

by:

Feels much safer and stable with the st rap

by:

simple and effective. Works as advertised. Actually one of the better stabilization straps on the market. the buckle is strong and has a durable non marking coating. I'd recommend buying 3 at a time (two to stabilize to an overkill level, and one backup because you know how life is)

Very nice product. I am pleased with it's performance.

by:

Simple, sturdy and cost effective.

by:

Gets the job done 10/10

by:

Simple, easy to use, effective.

by:

Just finished about a 300 mile round-trip and the strap definitely helps stabilize the hitch-mounted bike rack. The only issue was that the angle of the clip was too much for the hatch on my Golf GTI so I had to bend it a little to get it to fit.

Bending the clips will cause the straps to potentially lose their capacity.

  • Does Curt or Draw-Tite Hitch Have Better Ground Clearance for 2020 Kia Soul
The Curt # C67FR does have better ground clearance than the Draw-Tite # DT25GR for your 2020 Kia Soul. The reason you have to make a cutout for the Draw-Tite and not the Curt is because Draw-Tite decided to add a plate between the crossbeam and the receiver whereas the Curt has the standard downtube (see attached). The Curt instructions do call out using the Support Strap # 18050 for all non-trailer loads but this is something they are in the process of eliminating from their instructions....

Yes, they'll work fine together! The Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack item # C18085 works with class I hitches like the Draw-Tite item # 24787. No, the use of the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories item # 18050 is not required for use with Draw-Tite hitches just Curt ones. It wouldn't hurt but you're not required to for warranty reasons. The Draw-Tite Hitch item # 24787 is confirmed to fit both the sedan and coupe models of the 2006 Honda Accord.

This hitch comes with the easiest installation process out of any hitch we carry for your vehicle. It only takes about 1 hour and includes all of the mounting hardware required for installation. It's certainly not hopeless, we can get you though this! Let's begin with the hitch. Trailer hitches are classified according to their capacity. The smaller the vehicle, the lighter the capacity. Because your Golf is a compact car, it uses a Class I hitch which has the lowest capacity. For a hitch, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11412. Any trusted mechanic would be able to complete the installation for you. I've linked you to the install instructions, so you can print...

  • Why is the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap Part # 18050 Needed
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13081 which is a fit for your 2014 Jeep Compass as you mentioned recommends the use of the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap part # 18050 for all non-towing accessories. The reason for the strap is to prevent movement of the accessory inside the trailer hitch as it can wear down the hitch over time and lead to a potential for failure.
