My purchase was an easy choice with advice I received from customer service. The hitch is working great no problems. You can't go wrong making your purchase from etrailer.

Product works great just like day 1. I look forward to many years of use when maintained properly.

I use use a Curt Hitch "Flat Carrier"
loads on my 2005 Prius.
Bought the recommended support strap and liked the way it took the up-down bounce stress off the hitch, but the carrier still wobbled left to right, rotating slightly within the hitch receiver. Bought a second strap and the two stabilized the load very nicely. I needed a light cord between the two straps at the top of the hatch door to encourage them not to slide off the corners of the door.

I am quite pleased with our flat carrier. We keep the loads low enough & centered enough to not block the brake lights and the license plate. Weve used it to carry bikes as well.

I've bought from etailer actually 4 or 5 times in the past. Each time the quality was spot on in the installation was as the videos. Would buy again if needed.

Excellent. No changes to my review a year later!
Capt V - 05/10/2022

simple and effective. Works as advertised. Actually one of the better stabilization straps on the market. the buckle is strong and has a durable non marking coating. I'd recommend buying 3 at a time (two to stabilize to an overkill level, and one backup because you know how life is)

We were very impressed with the quality of the Curt Trailer hitch we purchased, its price and how quickly it arrived.
We had the hitch installed by a very good local mechanic for a fraction of the cost quoted by our Honda dealer.
The hitch support strap that was recommended works perfectly with this hitch.
We highly recommend this hitch to anyone.

Install was very easy, instructions were clear.

Be sure to use WD-40 to loosen up the muffler attachments. That one step alone made this job easier than I expected.

This hitch is used to attach a goal post, so I can carry my kayaks on top.

Great customer service, the best.

Got the Curt stabilizing strap at etrailer recommendation when I purchased the Saris Freedom rack for my e-bike. The product is amazing and, at the price, a no-brainer. A platform rack (at least the one I have) is good at minimizing side-to-side movement, but not so good at minimizing rocking forward and back. With the Curt strap you can quickly and easily cinch the bike in a more stable vertical position. It gives you peace of mind when you hit bumps in the road.

We used our new hitch thanks to !

The bike rake fit perfectly .. we used the support strap too!

Off we go!

Adds extra security and support for my bike rack

Order arrived earlier than expected. Packing was torn but all parts in good condition.Everything fit perfectly. Only took 20 minutes to install hitch and wiring harness.
Working with Etrailer is the best.

Purchased this strap as a backup support for the bike rack that I will be using with my new etrailer hitch.

This strap work great to add some dampening to any bouncing your Thule bike rack may experience.
e-trailer is a top notch outfit that has great, fast shipping and outstanding communication and customer service!

I have bought a number of items from etrailer, at least 8 items and I have been very happy with every one, don't even bother taking a chance on on someone else, you have come to the best place by far.

etrailer comes through again, with their usual fast shipping and their above-and-beyond customer service and communication.

The item arrived really fast, however, the box was ripped open on one end and on the sides with the item hanging out and damaged. I was told this would be double-boxed when I ordered it, and it should have arrived in much better shape than this. Most disappointed. The manner in which it is shipped needs to be improved as not to damage the item, and I would have been happy.

Really glad I bought it. It helps the hitch so much with the bounce and just movement overall. Really stabilizes things. I worried the hook on the car side might mar the paint, but all good so far

I'm giving this a 5 star review primarily because of how awesome etrailer is! The strap is a great addition to the hitch rack I bought from etrailer a couple of months ago. It's that added reassurance that my bike rack isn't going to bounce my bikes off. The 2 transactions I've had with etrailer (the rack and this strap) were nothing less than perfect. They have what they say they have, they ship it quickly and solidly packaged and they always follow up. The website is informative. Kudos to them!

To think that for years I put up with my trailer hitch mounted bike rack noisily bouncing around behind my car. This one little strap (actually two, but they snap together) solved that problem in minutes, and gave me a lot more peace of mind when I have three bikes mounted. Nice little design.

I went to etrailer on the manufacturer's recommendation. The purchase was simple and delivery was prompt. Cool.

All is well!

The strap helped to stabilize the bike rack .. Strong & sturdy .. If you get the bike rack & hitch spend the extra for this ... Worked great on my 2013 vw beetle convertible ..

It still works perfect .. very happy

Outstanding product. The stitching and material are heavy duty. Looks great on my Honda Accord and Thule bike rack. Thanks!

Rating the best. Super good company to deal with.

We use our hitch for a bike rack, and it has worked great for that purpose. Planning to pull a trailer in the future.

Box to hitch 1 minute.
2 ebikes and
ready to roll 10 minutes.
A whole new world has opened up. This is absolutely the easiest, most versatile rack ever. At 65, my days of putting a light bike on a roof rack are over. This will handle almost anything.
The service and attention to detail was amazing. The eTrailer team seems like friends at the local bike shop. BUY IT HERE!
Gotta go, mountains to ride.

Well, my bike kept slipping out of the strap and almost fell off the rack! So much so I no longer use the rack. I now have a different kind of rack that the bike wheels sit on racks. It is made by KUAT. Thank you for this follow up.

It does an OK job of helping to stabilize my bike. But it's not as solid as other strap types as the strap can be pulled through the teeth/buckle with not a whole lot of force. Caused some minor scratching at the contact point on my roof/trunk as well.

  • Where to Attach the Curt Support Strap on a 2012 Toyota Highlander
Normally we recommend that the Curt Stabilizer Strap # 18050 get hooked to the top of the trunk lid or top of the hatch, since your vehicle has a small spoiler this can be prove to be a difficult situation. If the spoiler has metal support underneath it then you can still run strap over the spoiler. If the spoiler is plastic without any metal supports underneath it then you could potentially damage the spoiler by running the strap over it. In this case we recommend lowering the attachment...

  • Can the Curt Stabilizer Strap Be Attached Lower to Accommodate Glass Hatchbacks
You might have to get a little creative with how you install the Curt Stabilizer Strap # 18050 since you have a glass hatchback. We have seen people attach the hook end to the bottom lip of the hatch back since this is metal. This would require the strap attach to the bike rack lower than usual as well.

  • Why Does Curt Require Stabilizing Strap While Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite Do Not
Curt requires the strap to provide extra support for when the vehicle goes over rough pavement or experiences a sudden shock like hitting a pothole. Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch feel that this isn't necessary with their hitches. Because the strap is an extra expense, and because some vehicles just aren't well suited to using the strap, I'll usually recommend going with the Draw-Tite or Hidden Hitch models.

The Curt stabilization strap # 18050 comes in two parts. The shorter part with the loop that fits around the bike carrier mast is 18 inches long overall from the end of the buckle to the end of the closed loop. • Recommendation to Prevent Movement with the Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack
The Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack that you referenced has an anti-rattle hitch pin built into the rack already. But to provide more support for the rack all we have that would work would be the Curt Stabilizer strap part # 18050. This would attach to the top of the rack and then get ran to the upper hatch seam of your vehicle and would provide it with a bit more support. Check out the video I attached.

  • Why Does Curt Require a Stabilizer Strap But Hidden Hitch Doesn't
Curt recommends the stabilizer strap with non-supported loads like bike racks to help support the hitch when going over bumps to prevent some of the vertical shock from being transferred to the hitch. Curt does this as a precaution, it's not that Draw Tite or Hidden Hitch are stronger. Both hitch brands make outstanding hitches that are typically stronger than what they are rated for. I would say that Curt just happens to approach the idea of a bike rack/cargo carrier being used in a lower...

You probably can adjust the angle of the hook on the Curt stabilizing strap # 18050 to allow for a better fit on your 2011 Volkswagen Golf. Do note this this modification may void the item's warranty, however. You would want to allow the hook to become warm - say leave it in the sun for a while to gently warm the metal - and also to use either a cloth between the pliers (or other tool) and the hook itself - to protect it. To use the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap # 18050 on your Toyota Prius that has a rear spoiler, I recommend simply running the strap to the lower edge of the hatch door. • Strap Recommendation for Curt Hitch Installed on Honda Element To Prevent Hitch Flex with Bike Rack
Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well. You will need to use this strap to prevent the flex you are seeing. Failure to use the strap does void the warranty of the hitch. Yes, you can use stabilizer strap # 18050 for your cargo carrier. You would want to run the strap under the spoiler of your 2010 Mazda 3 and place the hook in the gap between the back window and the trunk/boot lid.
