Detail K2 Plow Length

The Detail K2 snowplow conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch for fast, simple mounting. Easily raise and lower the plow from the comfort of your cab with the remote-controlled electric winch. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain.

Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation

This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. A plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets ties you down to just 1 vehicle. But this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.

Detail K2 Hitch Mount

To install the snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver (sold separately). Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.

Detail K2 Caster Wheel

The snowplow comes with flip-down caster wheels that make the installation process even easier on you. Simply flip the wheels into position and you will be able to roll the plow into position for mounting or storage. The height of the wheels can also be adjusted to match the height of your vehicle.

How to Plow

Detail K2 Adjustable Plow Position

Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, to the left, or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or a private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.

Detail K2 Wireless Remote 2.4Ghz

The plow comes with a wireless remote that allows you to stay warm and out of the elements while still effectively controlling the plow. The remote operates on a 2.4 GHz frequency, allowing it to quickly send signals to the winch without experiencing delays. And because it's wireless, you won't have to run wires through your dash. Nor will you have to leave your window cracked open in the middle of a snow storm just so that you can run a wired remote into your cab. You will be glad to have it on those cold winter days.

To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the snowplow.

When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.

Easy Lifting with Electric Winch

Detail K2 Electric Winch

The electric winch on this plow allows you to easily lift and lower the blade using the wireless remote control. If you prefer, you can also install the included in-cab toggle switch to control the plow. The winch uses a durable strap, which is much quieter than a chain, to raise and lower the plow.

Detail K2 Features

Detail K2 Skid Shoes

The snowplow features skid shoes that allow you to adjust the height of your plow. This allows you to efficiently plow over surfaces that are uneven, such as gravel roads.

Detail K2 Blade Stiffener

Blade stiffeners, or blade support brackets, reinforce the connection between the plow and your vehicle. They add 2 additional points of contact with your hitch on either side of the plow's T-frame. This prevents stress on the frame and on your vehicle, while also strengthening the performance of the plow.

Detail K2 Trip Springs

Shock-absorbing springs allow the plow to dip forward in the event that you hit an obstruction. This flexibility protects you and your vehicle from impacts.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Decent plow for the price.

I installed
this DK2 Avalanche on a 2003 GMC Yukon 1500 with a Curt front receiver hitch 31302. If you have a side mount battery, you may need battery bolt extenders (Battery Doctor #30400) to make life easier. That said, the ring terminal connectors on the winch control box will be too small. Get ones that will fit the 3/8 inch stud and 12-10 AWG wire to replace the stock ones.

Manufacturer instructions are not very helpful, but Graz's Garage has a great install video on YouTube. He installed his on a 2020 Chevy Colorado Z71. You can always count on a gearhead from Detroit. eTrailer is awesome at responding to concerns, too, and I'm glad I bought this product from them.

I own two of these hitches on two different trucks. One hitch has been in use for 6 years. The other one is a year old. The older one has functioned flawlessly. The new one went together well. The only issue is that one of the self tapping bolts broke off even with the anti-decapitation bar. It's not a huge problem, however I will have to remove the entire assembly to re-drill the broken bolt out which will damage the threads, requiring larger bolts. Looking for grade 8 3/8 or 10 mm self threading bolts as replacements, which may not exist? Another thought is to drill all of the way through both sides of the antidecapitation bar and use nuts and lock washers. The hitch is great otherwise!

by: Steve Miller01/13/2021

My plow was delivered quickly. It took a bit longer to assemble than I thought it would, but it seems pretty heavy duty and looks and works great for my 600' long driveway. It's much better and quicker than plowing with my 4 wheeler and warmer too.

Unfortunately the item I wanted wasn't in stock at etrailer, but I had time before I wanted to install the item, a front mount hitch. The vendor was on time with supplying the hitch and etrailer shipped the hitch in a timely manner. It arrived yesterday evening and I installed it today. I've installed three front hitches, all from etrailer Curt and Draw-Tite I believe over the past few years. Two this year. The first picture is the front hitch on a 1998 E-450 class C motor home, the second picture is on a 2002 Ford F-350 pickup truck.

by: Terri12/21/2023

It's a great plow.works good the winch is a little slow and the remote is slow to respond but all in all it does what I need it to do.

by: Will 11/12/2022

Plow seems to be of good quality, wont know till I actually use it, how good it is. Seems sturdy enough to do the job, assembly was very straight forward.
My only complaint is etrailer left me dangling for a month with no updates on my order status, even after chatting with one of their customer service people.
I ended up contacting DK2 to get a ship date.

The video explaining the install was very helpful, thank you! One additional step, which I had to do, REMOVE the front bumper. Four bolts, and it is off. This makes the removal of the front leaf spring nut MUCH easier, esp. if working alone. Now the disappointing part. My winch, which is a Re-Con, Brute force (17,500 lb rating) was half a hole short from being able to pin. I removed the winch carrying handles and the front licence plate. This allowed the stinger to slide forward in the receiver the extra little bit. It now fits fine. I have other vehicles the winch mounts on, so I elected to go this route and it will be fine. It is a bit of a pain, but only will have to deal with it once or twice per year. I just threw the plate in the front window in case I get pulled over. My truck has towing loops which extend through the bumper, so I can not slide the plate to the side of the winch.

Fit my 2001 f250 perfectly. Easy install with 2 people. Removing the 2 frame nuts was toughest part of the job. You will need 24mm and 21mm deep sockets and a 24 mm wrench. Excellent packaging. This is 4th hitch from etrailer and best packaging ever. Instructions should provide torque specs.

Front hitch is amazing! I have a long, narrow, winding driveway. It was very difficult to back my 24 boat down it. Pushing with the front hitch is so easy it is unbelieable. If you have a tough situation to back down a front hitch is the answer.

2001 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

The video was a great help! I would add one more step to make this job a total breeze. Those front bolts on the springs are EXTREMELY tight. I was doing this job alone, so I had to figure out how to hold the back side of the bolt while loosening the nut. REMOVE the front bumper! There are only 4 bolts which hold the bumper on. Once the bumper is off, there is plenty of room to deal with the tight bolts and hold them from turning. It may add a few minutes of time, but I believe removal of the bumper will save time for the completion of this project, especially if flying solo.

Product is terrific ansd very easy to install following your instructions. Only 'shocker' was trying to take off the nut on the bolt holding the front leaf springs. That took an 'Act of Congress' to remove. Well not totally correct, Congress doesn't do anything and I had to work my tail off with help to break those nuts loose. It is extremely hard to get those loose. If I subtract the time I used to get those two nuts off, it would take less than 20 minutes. Otherwise very simple. I have two pics attached.

I used a three foot cheater bar...broke standard 3/4 flex joint. I purchased the professional impact flex joint then it came loose.

by: Pez11/05/2021

etrailer has been great as always! Problem was with the installation on my 2001 f-350 4x4 w/blocker beam that the stiffener plates hole locations were about a 1/2" off side to side and about 1/8" off front to back. Worked with them and they positively claimed their product was a correct fit for my truck. Provided them with pictures/measurements as requested. They had no fix for this problem and left me to correct the issue on my end. Interesting part of this problem is that the front hitch receiver part Curt c31014 fit perfectly with my factory plate and blocker beam assembly? As soon as the stiffener plate was added the install failed. Remedy was to custom machine modify their plates to complete the install at my cost of $xx. Again, etrailer would receive a 5-star rating on their end!

2001 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

I put the front receiver on my Ford truck which was relatively easy but I had a friend help as the lifting is a two man job. As others have mentioned, the one bolt on each side is a bugger to get out. I followed a youtuber's advice and took off the front bumper first so I could access the spring bolt. The video put out by e-trailer was helpful. Even with spraying the spring bolt with penetrating oil for several days it took a long breaker bar and a friend holding the nut on the other side with a wrench to break it loose. The two bolts needed to complete the assembly were missing but quickly mailed out once I notified etrailer. These were the self tapping screws that go in on either side of the receiver end. I previously put on a front receiver from etrailer on my Chev pickup which was easier and have a winch mounted in a cradle mount. I can now switch the winch between trucks as needed. I used the anti rattle lock sold by etrailer but haven't used it long enough for a review. I assume this lock will lessen movement on the winch in the mount.

2002 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

I have purchased a hitch before with e-trailer and was just as pleased with this one as the last one. I appreciated the website info & video with good tips, etc. Some of the other brands I checked out required eliminating the fog lights, but didn't have to do that with this one. The only trouble I had was with the loosening & removal of the 24MM nut on the spring (as warned would be the case). I had soaked it in penetrating oil 3 days to no avail. Had to have a garage raise the truck on a lift to have room for a long extension on my breaker bar. My advise to someone doing this on an old truck like mine that had lived most of it's life exposed to Nebraska winter roads, I would soak all the nuts in penetrating oil for a week or so. I am really liking the way the hitch turned out. I tried to take a picture of the front end, but the receiver is so well placed that it hardly showed up. Thanks for a great product and great service!

FordF-250 Super Duty

Definitely heavy duty and well made with a nice powder coat finish. I installed a similar unit on a GMC 1/2 ton pickup last year. The GMC install was easy in comparison to this one.
On this F-250 Super Duty it's a two person job with some really heavy duty tools. The front spring bolt is very large and the retaining nuts were on with blue thread locker. It took one person holding the bolt head and another person on the nut with a 3 ft breaker bar to get it to move. There is not enough room to get a big impact on the nut. I had sprayed all the bolts with penetrating oil for a couple day soak. I ended up removing the bumper support brackets to get better angle on the spring bolt nuts. All the other bolts were easy to get to and came off just fine. The actual install is well engineered and not a problem.

2001 FordF-250 Super Duty

Installed on 2001 Superduty F250. Needed to remove the bumper (4 nuts up front, 2 on the side) to get access for torque on key nuts with a breaker bar. Works well to hold a 12000# winch. I have not really tested it yet, but like the low profile.

by: Phil 09/24/2018

I bought this hitch to replace the truck's front cross-frame member, but with the advantage of having a hitch. I've used the hitch portion only a few times to hold four bikes and have had no problems. Seems like a very rugged unit.

Ask the Experts about this Snow Plow
Do you have a question about this Snow Plow?

  • Correct Front Mounted Receiver for 2005 Chevy Silverado
  • The # K2AVAL8422 K2 plow attaches to the vehicle using a standard front mounted hitch. The hitch you need will depend on whether your Silverado is a 1500 or a 1500 HD model. The easy way to differentiate between the two is the hubs. The 1500 has 6 bolt hubs while the 1500HD has 8 bolt hubs. If you have the 1500 model, I'd recommend the Curt # 31302. If you have the 1500HD model, use the Curt # 31108. I've linked to installation videos for both hitches mentioned above.

  • Yes, you will be able to use the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31014 on your 2002 Ford F-250 4x4. Your Rough Country 2" leveling kit does not modify the area that the mounting brackets for the Curt receiver uses, it simply adds a lift block between the factory leaf spring and the axle. The Curt brackets will slide onto the leaf spring bolts and also bolt onto the front blocker beam. Be sure not to remove the leaf spring bolts as only the nuts are required to be removed

  • Front Mounted Receiver Hitch for 2001 Ford Excursion
  • We do indeed have a front mounted receiver that's a fit for the 2001 Excursion, part # 65022. The hitch would install directly to the front of the frame members behind the bumper. Installation involves removing the bumper, and sandwiching the hitch in between the frame members and the bumper as shown in the instructions I've linked. If your Expedition is equipped with the OEM foglights, they'll need to be relocated or removed for the receiver to fit. The Curt # C31014 front mounted receiver

  • How to Pick out a Front Mount Hitch for a 1999 Ford F350
  • The difference between the Curt Hitch # C31014 and Curt Hitch # 31114 is that the # C31014 is designed for vehicles with blocker beams and the # 31114 is designed for vehicles without the blocker beam. You will want to look under the front end of your 1999 Ford F350 to see if you have a blocker beam and order the correct front hitch for your vehicle. If you get under the front of your vehicle and see an L-shaped bracket attached to a beam that runs from one frame rail to the other you

  • Recommended Front Hitch for 2003 Ford F-350 That Keeps OEM Fog Lights In Place
  • I do have a solution for you to install a front hitch on your 2003 Ford F-350 that will lead the OEM fog lights in tact, but you will need to confirm that your truck has the blocker beam behind the bumper (only found on 4wd versions of this truck, so it's likely there). I recommend using the Curt # C31014 which has the 500-lbs tongue weight capacity you're seeking and will allow you to maneuver your enclosed trailer around the yard easily. I have attached an installation video of this

  • Front Hitch Installation For 2002 Ford Excursion Diesel With Blocker Beam
  • The front hitch designed for your 2002 Ford Excursion is the Curt Hitch, part # 31114. This is a custom fit hitch and has a 2 inch receiver opening. I called my contact at Curt and they told me they were not aware of a blocker beam being installed on an Excursion. They did tell me that the front mount hitch # 31114 would bolt to the brackets for the springs and the blocker beam would attach to the underside of the front mount hitch. They told me it would bolt into place like the 31014

  • Does Curt Front Hitch C31014 Fit 2001 Ford F-350
  • Since your 2001 Ford F-350 has the blocker beam (which is what I believe you were referencing when you mentioned extra cowl), you can definitely install the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31014. The 34 inch frame is actually a cab and chassis frame, so assuming your F-350 is a standard pick-up, then there is no need to measure, though just to be thorough, the measurement is taken from outside-to-outside of the frame.

  • Line Pull and Trailer Towing Capacity for Curt Front Hitch # C31014
  • So the Curt front hitch # C31014 has a line pull rating of 9,000 lbs and a trailer towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. So it can pull 9,000 lbs safely, but since trailers can be towed on inclines with other factors involved the capacity for moving a trailer is lower at 5,000 lbs.

  • The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C31014 which is a fit for a 2002 Ford F-250 installs underneath the front bumper like what you're looking for so this is what I recommend. The other options like the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 31114 install inside the front bumper.

  • Front Mount Trailer Hitch for a 2004 Ford F-250 for a Snow Plow
  • The only front mount hitch option for your 2004 Ford F-250 is # 65022. But this receiver will exit in between the tow hooks. I cannot recommend using a custom hitch such as # C31014 for fabrication but you could use fabrication parts to have a custom fabricator make a hitch that will fit. I have linked the hitch fabrication parts we carry. You would just need a crossmember. This is likely going to be less expensive then trying to adapt a hitch to fit.

  • Why are Leaf Spring Brackets Needed for Front Mount Hitch on 2002 Ford Super Duty?
  • I'd be happy to. As you can see from the cutout I added from the instructions, the leaf spring brackets from the Curt # C31014 are necessary in order to install this front-mounted hitch on your 2002 Ford Super Duty if it has a blocker bar. You can also see from the linked installation video how the hitch installs. It is for trucks that have the blocker bar, which means you will have leaf springs on the front of your truck. If you do not have that on your Super Duty you can use the Draw-Tite
