Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars Installation - 2021 Mazda CX-5

Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Thule WingBar Evo crossbar system here on a 2021 Mazda MX-5 with bare roof. Now I personally think it looks really well with this vehicle here, and particularly the black crossbars due to the darker paint scheme we do have on the vehicle. But if you have a lighter paint scheme, or you just prefer the lighter crossbar option, this system is available with silver crossbars as well. This system here, the wing bars, these are an arrow shaped crossbar. So there's a few different arrow shaped crossbar options on the market, but what I think Thule does really well is that they kind of go one step further. The shape or the contour of our crossbars here mimics an airplane wing.

With our rack assembled to the manufacturer's instructions, well open the front doors on our Mazda, grab the front portion of our rack, and place it onto the front roof line of our vehicle. Per Yakimas fit guide we need to measure nine and half inches from the rear edge of our windshield to the front edge of our foot pad. Well do this measurement on both sides to be sure we have our feet in line with one another. With our measurements done, well pull down on the black lever located on each foot pad, to secure the clips around the underside of our roof line. With the front half secure we can close the front doors, open the rear doors, and grab the rear half of our rack. Well place this onto the rear roof line of our vehicle. This time our measurement's going to be thirty-two inches from the center of the front bar to the center of the rear bar. We need to do this measurement on both sides as well.

Thule Traverse Roof Rack Installation - 2015 Mazda CX-5

Today on our 2015 Mazda CX-5, we'll be test fitting the Thule Traverse roof rack system using part numbers THLV50, Th480, and THKIT1721. We'll begin our test fit by placing the front load bar onto the front of our roof. We'll need to measure 11 and 1/4 inches from the leading edge of the front windshield to the first part of our foot pack. We're going to make this measurement on both the passenger and driver's side of the vehicle to ensure the front load bar is perpendicular to the roof. Once we have it in place, we're going to use the included tensioning tool to tighten down the silver bolt on the inside of our foot to bring the clips tightly up against the roofline. Now we'll need to alternate sides when tightening it down just to make sure the bar doesn't favor one side of the vehicle. With this done, we can then place the rear load bar onto the rear of our roof and measure the load bar spread. The load bar spread is the measurement from the center of the front load bar to the center of the rear load bar and is important when choosing roof rack accessories. Once we've made this measurement on both sides, we'll again use the included tensioning tool to tighten down the silver bolt to bring the clips up tightly against the roofline. Once everything is all tightened down and secured, that'll complete today's test fit of the Thule Traverse roof rack system using part numbers THLV50, TH480 and THKIT1721 on a 2015 Mazda CX-5.
