Today we're going to take a look at the Club Tire Claw XL wheel lock. This can be keyed alike. This is a one-piece security wheel lock that's very quick and easy to use on trailers, cars and ATVs. It is a self-locking claw that will wrap around the tire and the wheel and lock it into place to prevent rolling. The black portion right up here is a vinyl-dipped arm to protect your wheel rim. It does use laser-encrypted keys that cannot be copied.
They do give you three keys. It does have a covered key lock which will guard against any elements getting into your lock. This can be keyed alike for multiple sets. You do need to order more than one lock to get the locks keyed alike. This is designed to fit most wheel sizes and it can fit tire widths up to 12 inches wide. This is a nice one-piece design, but just to show you how this works, you take your key, flip open your cover.
Put your key in there and just turn it a quarter of a turn and you can see it will open up to whatever position you need. I would open it up all the way and then go ahead and take the key out because it will ratchet closed. Right now you can see, and then what you'll do is just put it like this around your wheel and tire and then just push it in all the way until you need it up against the wheel and tire. Once it's there all the way, then you see it's locked in position. It won't open up then, and you just leave it like that. It will keep the tire from rolling.
When you go to remove it, just flip open the cover, take your key, put your key in. Again, turn it a quarter of a turn, and it will release the whole lock and you remove it just like that. That should do it for the review on the Club Tire Claw Xl wheel lock, keyed alike.

Easy to install. Fits on tire and gives me the peace of mind that no one is going to come onto my property and steal my trailer!
Working with etrailer was a great experience! They keep you informed of your order, when it is received, when they review their stock, and when they ship!
This tire lock is OUTSTANDING. I've had it for more than a year and it looks brand new! It easily fits around the tires on my side-by-side, is rugged and opens/closes smoothly to secure my vehicle.
Exactly as advertised. Fits well. I didn't use the lug nut protector though. It seemed to fit better without it. The lug nut protector may be more useful on a bigger tire. Mine was 225/75 R15.
Good product.
No one has stolen our trailer which is a plus. However, it doesn't fit as tight as I would like. It seems to be more of a visible deterrent than one that couldn't be removed with a crowbar. I think this would be a 5 star product if it was more adjustable. It is well made.
I have two complaints about this product. 1) The plate which covers up the lug nuts does not come ready to assemble. A 6 mm hole must be drilled into the the claw. Lame. If you are that handy with tools, save yourself some money by cutting and drilling your own flat plate--that is all it is. 2) This lock comes with three keys and it is not possible to get extras. I am notorious for losing keys so I called Club to get extras--they said they didn't have any--I'd have to get them from a lock smith. And the two locksmiths I talked to said I'd have to get them from the company.
Good quality.
Seems to be as advertised should deter most thieves/ wish the cover plate was all ready mounted..but nice unit
With over 700 car thefts in Toronto for the month of January 2023 we decided to add protection for our BMW X5. The Claw will do double duty to also protect our Jayco Travel trailer when camping.
We like the beefy build of the Claw as well as the visual deterrent to make a thief to consider an alternative vehicle.
We were disappointed with the lug protector. The protector is not a add on piece you just install. You need to drill a hole into the claw and tap the hole so you can screw the lug protector in place.
Overall, we are confident that the claw and lug nut protector will provide an additional lay of protection from opportunistic theft.
We have used etrailer for multiple products. As a Canadian we find the service, shipping and product selection to be excellent and strongly endorse etrailer as a parts supplier.
Product works good on trailer but not so well on motorcycle with large rear tire and a low tire wall. My bike tire is well (9inches) under the products max usage size but because of the tire wall low height this unit can be slid off tire and rim by simply pushing to the side and slipping it around rim and tire...
Also I bought two and would have liked them both keyed a like but the charge for such a simple task was outrages.
To sum it up I'm Ok with product...
I bought the Club wheel lock for my trailer. The fork to the rear of the tire does not properly clear the brake disk assembly, therefore the Club unit mounts crooked. This makes it impossible to use the lug nut plate. I am resigned to using just the Club attachment.
the claw is one of the best investments i have made to protect my new truck.my last one was stolen out of my driveway 15 months ago. will never get over it. yes, i think the claw is as much a visual deterrant as a mechanical but thugs will still have to take time to disable it. the plate to cover the wheel studs is a waste of time (sorry) i use 2 sets of wheel locks on each wheel. people come up to me constantly and ask about it. one secret i want to pass on is when you put the claw on, place the key lock down instead of up. that way they can't pick it (it can be done) a little more tricky to unlock but worth it. anyway, love the claw and may get another one..thanks
Had my trailer locked up on the job site with two locks on the trailer. They were able to remove the locks in the trailer was stolen.
etrailer has been a much needed assistance to me. I don't know trailers well but they offer help every single time I need to call. Try them.
The quality products I need with fast delivery, excellent customer service and follow up
This is a great product. The baked-on finish is very durable and being red deters a would-be thief from a distance. I like the plastic cap that seals the lock and would prevent ice-up. Lock quality and keys are excellent. The lock opens to a size sufficiently large to fit my T@G XL trailer’s 235/75R15 off-road tires. Initial fitting was by trial and error to be sufficiently tight so unit could not be slipped off the tire AND to have the metal plate cover the majority of the tire lug nuts.
Quick reply and fast friendly service .
etrailer.com is the way to go.!
Thanks to all
This works perfect for my 285/70R17 tires on my Patriot Camping Trailer. At first I could not get it to secure tightly…..I inflated the tire more (45 PSI) in hopes of narrowing the width of the tire. The inflated tired worked as I was able to get 1 extra click in the lock. I then deflated back to 35 PSI and got it to work again. Lesson learned, I just needed to rock/Tilt the wheel lock to one side to find a position that enabled the 1 extra click!!
Well made. Very solid. Will be difficult for thief to break it. It fits on my large wide tire LT245/70R17
Great experience ordering this product from etrailer. Product arrived before it was promised.
The claw is well made. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the plate covering the lug nuts is too small to be effective and will have to be modified. Additionally, the shape of "fingers" needs to be improved as it is currently designed they do not fit between the rim and brake drum of a standard 15" wheel/10" drum combination. As another line of defense against thieves it serves it's intended purpose. If nothing else, it looks the part.
just got it and haven't tried it yet, but I wasn't expecting it to be so heavy. Hope it helps since my car had been stolen recently
The quality of the claw material is satisfactory, but the LNP should have been predrilled/tapped for easier installation. It is presumed that the end user has and can drill/tap the claw arm. Additionally, the LNP should be longer, as the claw on back side does not fit the upto brake backing plate which makes the plate difficult to press against the lug cap,if plate was longer, the claw would sit better against the rim/tire area and rest on ground as intended.
