Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

The plugs for the taillights are too big for the holes. it is easy to cut and splice them though. Other then that this is a great product and fairly easy to install.

2005 Jeep Liberty

Great product and easy installation. The only hard part was getting the wire up through the frame to the battery.

by:
2006 Jeep Liberty

Replaced a unit that stopped working and that did not take power from batery. Unit was just a matter of connecting 4 connectors and running a wire forward to the batery. No problems and unit works good.

by:
2004 Jeep Liberty

Product works fine so far. Not being mechanically sound kinda guy, it took me awhile to get the power cable to the battery.

by:

the plugs did not fit through the holes in the tail light section but otherwise ok

T-One connector made wiring easy. The modules plugged right into the existing connectors. Instructions were clear and easy to follow.

Watched video on etrailer WEB site for 2003 Jeep Liberty. Installed harness without any problems in less than an hour. DO NOT connect either end of battery wire until you are satisfied with the "run" under the vehicle.

This product was easy to install and was delivered very quickly. I liked that if there was install issue I could refer to video online @ etrailer for my jeep liberty.

2002 Jeep Liberty

Plugged right in! Couple quirks, needed a Torex 20 screwdriver and used more zip ties than what was included. Also, tried stuffing the control unit into the bumper area before I realized I could just stick it to the light housing itself. Much easier. Net took about 1.5 hours and most of that was crawling under the jeep routing the power line up to the battery. Easy....

etrailer.com is great. Their customer is awesome and so are the products. I installed this on my 2007 Jeep Liberty. The hardest part was running the hot wire from the back to the front. Otherwise, everything was pretty straight forward and easy (instructions included).

by:
2007 Jeep Liberty

Fit really well. Went to auto store in town first and was given the wrong part. E-Tailer got it correct first shot. Running power wire to front was a pill but works well. Thanks for your trouble.

Shipping and Handling - Excellent Price - Good
Ease of Installation - Good
Product functionality - Excellent
Suggestions:
1- Needs a longer ground wire (about 1-1/2 ft) to take advantage of pre-drilled frame holes for grounding screw.
2- Display module location layout in instructional illustration.
3- Provide better module securing method (2 sided tape not sufficient, did not work)

Shipment arrived a day early, very easy to install. This is to replace one I bought from a different company and it burned out in a year. The quality of this T connector appears to be superior to the one I had. A tad bit more expensive then the old one (about $20.00 more), but a real bargain compared to the $180.00 Jeep wants for theirs.

This isn't my first installation of wiring for a trailer but this kit covered everything. I've never had to run the wiring to the battery but it all worked out and it's working beautifuly.

It seems bizarre that you write a review about somebody doing exactly what they said they would do for you. Well, my experience has been horrible with customer service in the last 5 years. Then along comes e-trailer. I ordered the part and it shipped the same day. I had a confirmation email letting me know what part was on the way along with the tracking info. I had an email letting me know it was delivered to my house. Installation was a snap with best directions I have used in a long time. This was a great experience and it was handled with best customer service experience in years. Thank you e-trailer.

Very easy installation on my 2007 Jeep Liberty Sport. I ran the wire from the battery underneath the vehicle along the same route as the rear brake lines up and over the rear axle and then to the trailer wiring harness.

The service was great. Thank you Dave and the crew at etrailer.

The wire harness works great after a year. Still liking it.

Has worked perfectly on my 2007 JEEP Liberty, hooks up to the standard
trailer plug and works great. Made 4 trips with a trailer in tow, absolutely perfect function for lights.

Installation was a breeze, I watched a few install videos. I did a few more steps than one would expect, mostly to secure the module into the chassis cavity of the left rear light cluster, and the B+ BLACK wire connected to the yellow fuse clip, and then the car battery POS terminal.

The mounting bracket was attached to the chassis with the included screws, BUT I drilled and then tapped the holes (were they 8-32 or 10-32 ? ) to screw the bolts directly into the chassis.

Gooped the bolts with a gel lithium grease for rust protection when I screwed
them into the chassis metal.

Suggections! Please replace the black B+ positive wire with a RED color insulation
wire, to maintain correlation with standard DC color coding for wiring.

Add a good 12-14AWG yellow jacket butt splice to the kit for the BLACK B+ positive
wire to the YELLOW fuse clip wire. I had to use one of my own stock, the butt splice you sent would not accept the 12 gauge wire.

Thanks guys! Highly recommend this kit for a 2007 JEEP Liberty.

Still working perfectly. Has not been a problem. I did tell a fellow Jeep Liberty owner about the availability of the kit. I shall definitely return for any more products for my Jeep. Big Thank you !!

2018 Jeep Liberty

I purchased a trailer hitch for a Jeep Liberty about 18 months ago. Installation was simple with the instructions provided with the hardware and the videos on this site. I would encourage others to heed their warning that corrosion and rust should be removed from the holes on the vehicle before installing a hitch. Anyway, not only did the site contribute to simple installation, but their customer service was excellent. I received my hitch sooner than expected, which was beneficial because I needed to use it quickly. The whole system has been working great for this entire time. I have no complaints and will continue to use this site.

  • Troubleshooting Turn Signal Fuse Blowing on 2005 Jeep Liberty
The turn signal fuse blowing will be either due to a bad ground wire connection on your turn signals or a short in the wire. I don't believe that the wiring harness would cause that issue, but you may want to check the ground wire on that to make sure you have a clean bare metal to metal connection there as well. I recommend unplugging your # 118524 harness from behind that tail light and seeing if that fuse blows without the connection. If so, then you know the short is on the vehicle...

There are products available that will convert the 4-way that is on the Tow Ready Modulite # 118524 to a fully functioning 7-way. You would want a 4-way to 7-way Adapter part # ETBC7. The # ETBC7 comes with everything you would need to have a fully functional 7-way at the rear of your vehicle as well as allow you to use a brake controller. Hey Steve, that certainly is a crazy trifecta. There has to be some kind of underlying electrical issue for there to be this kind of combination of seemingly unrelated issues. I could really only speculate as to the exact cause, so your best bet for this will be to take your vehicle to a certified technician to have them diagnose. Since the vehicle is almost 20 years old my guess is a wiring issue maybe a short or a grounding issue. A bad ground can cause all kinds of random electrical...

I would use a circuit tester, item # PTW2992 if needed, and check the wiring going into the converter box on the T-One wiring harness, after reconnecting the harness.
