Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located at the rear, near the passenger's-side frame rail.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

by:
2001 Nissan Frontier

The instructions with hardness was simple @ detail. Took me 30 minutes to hook the hardness up. Works great.

by:

The hardest part of installing the T-Connector was getting the package open. Once you snapped the connector apart under the truck it was just a matter of hooking it to the T-Connector.

by:

Part looks sturdy and well built. Hooked right up just as advertised.
No problems at all.

by:
2000 Nissan Desert Runner

The trailer wiring harness plugged right into my 2000 Nissan Desert Runner's existing wiring as advertised and worked perfectly the first time I tried it.

by:

great harnessthis is such a simple install that anyone can do. NO need to expose or cut wiring that can cause loose, bad, rusted connections...like most other products.

plug didn't last longthe wires pulled out of the back of the plug. I had to buy a new plug-in and wire it into the T conector

1999 Nissan Frontier

We bought a hitch and lighting kit for our 99 Nissan Frontier. When we ordered we were skeptical because we never have any luck when the installation says very easy. In less than 45 minutes we had both installed without any problems. This was definitely a good choice. We will buy in the future from etrailer!

by:

This is easy to install. After connecting the adapter's ground wire to the pickup's frame, the trailer's turn/brake lights worked, but there was a 2v drop in the converter itself, which made the trailer's brake/turn lights dim. The running lights and tail lights are good however.

by:
2002 Nissan Frontier

Installed on a 2002 SEV6 Frontier 4WD. Easy installation with good fitment. All lights worked during a post-installation bulb check. Could include a few more zipties to aid a clean install. Otherwise great product and Etrailer was where I bought it from!

by:
2000 Nissan Frontier

The product is excellent, however I had difficulty in getting it to perform properly. This was not the fault of the product but in my understanding of the amp difference between the harness and the lights on my trailer. The customer service and tech service people were very helpful and generous in helping me through this for which I am most grateful. I can now install it correctly. I would highly recommend the product as well as E Trailer.

by:
2002 Nissan Frontier

I ordered the T-one Vehicle Wiring Harness to add a trailer adapter to my 2002 Nissan Frontier and it took four days to recieve through standard mail. Due to a couple days of rain I was delayed with the installation. It took only about 30 minutes for the complete installation process, including adding a couple of extra zip-ties to secure the wires, and the lights on the trailer all worked. I will have no problem recommending etrailer.com to my friends.

by:
2003 Nissan Frontier

Your product was easy to install on my 03 Nissan Frontier. Once a low voltage was detected, your technician Tommy helped me troubleshoot the problem quickly and after moving ground wire, the product works great. Also the ordering process of the product was the easiest on line experience I have ever had. Product arrived quickly even with economy shipping. Thank you!

by:
2001 Nissan Frontier

It's worked flawlessly ever since I installed it on my truck. I highly recommend it for anyone that uses anything requiring a wiring harness.

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring for 4-Way on 2002 Nissan Frontier
For your 2002 Nissan Frontier, the Curt Relay Kit for Nissan Aftermarket Tow Package # C57000 is not a fit. Instead you will use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118362. There are no additional relays like you stated adding under your hood required for your truck.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2000 Nissan Frontier SE 2 Door Extended Cab
The Hopkins Plug-N-Tow Wiring Harness, # 33515, and the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118362, are very similar wiring harnesses. Other than the fact that they are made by two different manufacturers, the only difference between these two wiring harnesses is having the ability to disconnect the 4-way flat connector from the converter box on the Hopkins harness. My recommendation would be the Tow Ready T-One wiring harness. This wiring harness is more economical in price and will perform...

  • Recommended Easy to Install Trailer Wiring Harness for 2002 Nissan Frontier
In order to add trailer wiring to your 2002 Nissan Frontier without the tow package I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118362. This will give you a 4 way wiring harness to tow a small trailer without brakes on your Frontier and Tekonsha harnesses are extremely reliable over time. This harness installs easily by teeing into your vehicle lights and there isn't anything that needs to be hard wired like the last harness, so there's nothing...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 1998 Nissan Frontier
For trailer wiring for your 1998 Nissan Frontier I have a much better solution for you than a universal wiring kit like the part # HM48895 that you referenced. You would want the Tow Ready wiring harness part # 118362 instead. This is a custom fit kit that is designed to plug right in line with the taillight wiring of your vehicle and won't require any cutting or splicing.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2002 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab Long Bed
Curt trailer hitch # 13842 does NOT fit the 2002 Nissan Frontier long bed according to Curt. However we do have a hitch that fits all models of the 2002 Nissan Frontier, long or short bed, 2 or 4 door. Take a look at Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75186. This hitch will fit your truck. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin and clip, and a storage bag. For trailer wiring I recommend # 118362. For your 2000 Nissan Frontier crew cab, you will need the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13841. The Receiver # 13831 only fits the regular cab and king cab as they use different mounting locations. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118362 will provide you with a 4-way flat connector. This will operate the lights on most small trailers. If you will be towing larger trailers with electric brakes or a charge line you will need the Installation Kit # ETBC7. • Recommended Tail Light Converter For 2003 Nissan Frontier
For your 2003 Nissan Frontier, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118362. This has a built in tail light converter because most trailers run on a two-wire system and your Nissan has a 3 wire system. This wiring harness will connect to your vehicle wiring located along the frame rail on the rear of the vehicle. Simply plug in the connectors, attach your ground wire, secure the converter, and run the wires to your trailer.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118362 connects directly to your factory wiring, so I recommend checking the connectors first for proper connection and then use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to check the wires for function going into the Modulite and then coming from it. If there is no signal going into the Modulite check your fuses and then if needed trace the wires with the tester searching for a short. If you have function going into the Modulite...

It will require that a wire be run from the rear of the vehicle to the engine compartment and a wire from the rear to under the dash to connect to the brake controller, but if you are handy it would be a pretty simple installation. Sounds like you're dealing with a Tekonsha # 118362 on a 1998-2004 Nissan Frontier, a 1998 Nissan Quest or a 1998 Mercury Villager. If the taillight circuit on the 4 pole connector is putting out voltage even when the vehicle taillights are switched on, it's entirely possible that the converter is blown and needs replacing. However, it could also be a poor ground connection. Make sure that ground is attached to clean bare metal, with no corrosion or undercoat between the ring terminal...

If they do not work when you run through the lighting functions, then there is a problem on the truck side. You can also check to make sure that all fuses/relays related to trailer towing are intact. Make sure that all the trailer grounds are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. If the trailer is aluminum, you may need to ground the lights with the main trailer ground instead of to the frame.
