Question:

installed the Curt hitch and included with the hitch was a 56325 harness. Not sure how to attach this to the apparently prewired connector on the car.

The Curt wiring harness # C56325 is designed to replace the factory 4-Way flat on models of the 2017 Cadillac XT5 that came with a 4-Way connector from the factory. You can check on your XT5 to see if it has the factory connector to plug the Curt harness into. The factory harness should be located behind the rear bumper about in the center of the vehicle. I have included a link to a video below of a difference harness that installs the same way so you can use it as a guide to locate the factory harness.
