Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies and some interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery. Once installation in complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Good to isolate your trailer wiring from your rear tail light wiring. With everything being computer controlled, I would say this is a must. Bought this to convert separate turn/brake lights on vehicle to single tail lights on trailer. Works okay. The only problem is that when you put on a turn signal and hold the brake, the car and trailer light flash alternately. When you let go of the brake they flash in unison. Under normal circumstances this would indicate an open ground. However, I have ran separate grounds to all of the trailer lights. I also ran a ground straight to the battery along with the power wire for the unit. All connections are soldered. This is the second Rogue that I installed this on with the same result. It could be that the unit doesn't like the bulb configuration. LED brake on the Rogue, LED trailer and incandescent turn bulb on the Rogue. They fixed the problem with the green wire not reaching the passenger side tail light.
This is my second Nissan Rogue install. The first was a 2011, for which I already had a power cable for an amplifier that I wasn't using any more. I really prefer an inside install vs running everything outside. On this 2023 Rogue I jacked up the left front, removed the wheel, then popped all the plugs holding the fender, plus a couple of screws on the little mud flaps. I used the hole for the hood release cable to get the power cable inside. It is well protected by the fender so I'm not worried about water ingress. It feeds in behind the far left of the dash behind the fuses and was easy to pull through. I then ran it along both door foot step trim pieces and through the corner of the back seat into the spare tire area. For the light wiring I used the grommet on each side where the tail light harness passes through the body. I used heavy waterproof electrical tape to re-wrap each grommet to seal out water. The green wire with the passenger side connectors was plenty long enough keeping the control box inside by the spare tire. My last step was to insert the fuse in the red battery connector after everything was connected and buttoned up. Attached my trailer lights and everything was perfect!
The wiring harness works perfectly on our Nissan Rouge. Thank you!
Great product! Installed last year, still great and has quite a bit of use on it. Fits exactly as it should for a factory harness.
Absolutely amazing very easy install from hitch to wiring no issues with mounting bolt straight up without issues absolutely love the hitch and wiring harness

That great to hear, John! What are you towing?

difficult to install had to go online to watch a video
Looked everywhere for a 4 pin wire harness for my 2021 Nissan Rouge. Perfect fit, easy install took less than an hour fit to finish. Photos shows T-connectors separated and connected. Power was an easy run to the battery and ground was simply to chassis. I pulled the 4pin tail to the receiver… done! … First time installing any type of trailer wiring harness.
This is the third one I have done on the same make and model- the green wire is long enough!(Finally!) I'm so happy I can say it is a 5 star now. I recommend you run the power wire through the passenger compartment and into the dash fuse box. Much easier than trying to route outside the car to the engine bay. Perfect plug in for the lights.
I know I can give you a five star rating from previous experiences and videos supplied from your site. A few paint scratches from shipping but that is to be expected with such a heavy odd shape. A small gloss black paint stick will take care for that. A very easy installation. Should I thank Nissan or Etrailer for that.

I read Craig's review from the site on his internal routing install for the power cable and decided to do that as well. It definitely took some time to do right and would not recommend for those of us who do not have the tools, inclination and time :). I used the existing driver side grommet in the trunk light harness area to fish the power cable up and ran it along the bottom foot rails. I then fished the line through the existing hood release cable hole as well and into the engine compartment. I ran a couple cable bases with self tappers in spots for use with zip ties and used some additional split wire tubing to prevent against vibration chafe. It works great! Thank you etrailer!
The kit works as expected. As others have mentioned the green wire that runs to the passenger side tail light is just slighty short. Would be great if Curt would update the kit with a longer wire and it would be perfect.
This harness works well. The rating is due to the fact that even though the harness says it is made for a Nisson Rouge the wires are too short to use without cutting and adding more length. I was prepared to do this because I saw other reviews pointing out this issue.
The hitch fit perfectly & was easy to install.I am a 75 year old man, had no trouble installing it by myself.
I needed to make a trip across country in a hurry but replaced my pickup truck with a Nissan Rogue (w/o a trailer hitch). Working with etrailer we found the right hitch for my vehicle, I purchased it and had my repair shop install it all (hitch and wiring harness). the installation was accomplished easily (feedback from my shop) and I loaded down my trailer and towed it across country with ZERO issues. The etrailer folks really know their QUALITY products. If you are considering adding a hitch to your vehicle, please look them up, you cannot go wrong.
Thank you etrailer, you folks were a real lifesaver.
It would be really helpful if you had a video actually showing the installation on a Nissan Rogue. Also, many people have complained that the green wire is not long enough to reach the car battery under the hood. This has been a complaint for years, so why is this not rectified? Or why is it not able to be wired in the back like other wiring kits?

I agree, a video would be helpful. As for the green wire, the manufacturer wants you to route the wire exactly as the instructions say to without deviation so it should be the perfect length per the instructions.
This trailer wiring is a great help, but like most others the green wire for the right side is way too short. I knew this going in so I expected it. Still the manufacturer should correct it. I wired mine from the inside to keep it neat and tidy. More work, but worth it to me.
The trailer hitch went in with no problem. The light kit did need the added wire to reach the passenger side. You would think Curt would have corrected that. Thank you for your service.
Package may have been opened previously as it was taped shut. Had to splice about 2 feet more to get the wiring to reach the right tail light. Installation of the wiring took a little bit longer than the hitch install. Once installed, the wiring worked perfectly.
This harness works great. Plugs are perfect and instructions fair. The green wire that goes to the passenger side tail light is too short and must be spliced. Seems crazy you have to do this but there's no way around it. It's a fairly involved project but better than risking cutting a modern wiring system. Route the power wire through the cabin to the fuse box. Trying to peirce the fire wall and access the battery is way too much work and likely will damage something.
I am employed at a local hitch installer, and we regularly order from etrailer. They're inventory is outstanding, as is their customer service and product offerings! From the do-it-yourselfer, to the professional hitch installer, etrailer is an outstanding resource!
Everything is great! Works good! Had to add 6 inches to the green wire for the passenger side and did not come with a 10 amp fuse….. but install was easy and it works great!!!
This kit worked fine for my 2023 rogue sv. However. The wire running between the driver and passenger side taillights is too short and needs extended. This is also an issue with the uhaul kit. Just seems counterintuitive to have to extend a wire on a vehicle specific kit.
I've had it installed for 4 months now and all is working flawless as it should. No regrets! The only reason for 4 stars versus 5 is the length of wire where you tap into the taillight is a tad too short. I added a little length to the wires to make installation a bit easier. It can technically be done with the wire length provided but you are playing a game that needs small hands to pull it off and small hands I do not have.
E-trailer is the best! Great sales people, unbelievable customer care. Got hitch 3 days early. I install hitches for a living , so I use them a lot.It is as easy as it looks to put most hitches on- Some only require you to lift up, start bolts and tighten- You can put a Frontier hitch on in 6 minutes! With wiring, 8 minutes! Some things don't require a professional!
Good value, fast delivery. Easy install ation!
