Features to know about

Installs Without Cutting or Splicing: Plug-In T-Connector Design

Wiring a trailer can be a headache when you have to cut into factory wires, but this harness skips that. The Curt T-Connector plugs straight into the existing tail light connectors to create a 4-pole flat trailer connection. It’s a hidden, plug-and-lead setup that keeps your wiring clean and factory-looking once installed.

Protects Vehicle Electronics: Powered Converter with Dedicated Battery Line

This harness includes a built-in converter and requires running the included black 12V power wire directly to the positive terminal of the vehicle battery through an in-line fuse. That isolates trailer power draw from the vehicle’s sensitive lighting circuits and prevents overloads or damage to factory wiring. It’s a more robust setup designed for reliable trailer lighting every time you hook up.

Simple Ground Connection: Pre-Attached White Wire with Ring Terminal

A solid ground is key for dependable trailer lights. The white wire on this harness comes pre-fitted with a ring terminal so you can mount it directly to the vehicle body using the included screw. It’s straightforward—no guesswork, no extra parts needed.

Ready to Tow with Standard 4-Flat Output: Running, Turn, and Brake Lights in One Plug

Once installed, the 4-flat connector gives you everything needed for safe towing—running lights, turn signals, and brake lights. It works with standard trailer wiring right out of the box, so you can plug in and hit the road without additional adapters or modifications.

I am employed at a local hitch installer, and we regularly order from etrailer. They're inventory is outstanding, as is their customer service and product offerings! From the do-it-yourselfer, to the professional hitch installer, etrailer is an outstanding resource!

by:

I read Craig's review from the site on his internal routing install for the power cable and decided to do that as well. It definitely took some time to do right and would not recommend for those of us who do not have the tools, inclination and time :). I used the existing driver side grommet in the trunk light harness area to fish the power cable up and ran it along the bottom foot rails. I then fished the line through the existing hood release cable hole as well and into the engine compartment. I ran a couple cable bases with self tappers in spots for use with zip ties and used some additional split wire tubing to prevent against vibration chafe. It works great! Thank you etrailer!

by:

This harness works great. Plugs are perfect and instructions fair. The green wire that goes to the passenger side tail light is too short and must be spliced. Seems crazy you have to do this but there's no way around it. It's a fairly involved project but better than risking cutting a modern wiring system. Route the power wire through the cabin to the fuse box. Trying to peirce the fire wall and access the battery is way too much work and likely will damage something.

by:

I needed to make a trip across country in a hurry but replaced my pickup truck with a Nissan Rogue (w/o a trailer hitch). Working with etrailer we found the right hitch for my vehicle, I purchased it and had my repair shop install it all (hitch and wiring harness). the installation was accomplished easily (feedback from my shop) and I loaded down my trailer and towed it across country with ZERO issues. The etrailer folks really know their QUALITY products. If you are considering adding a hitch to your vehicle, please look them up, you cannot go wrong.
Thank you etrailer, you folks were a real lifesaver.

by:

This is the third one I have done on the same make and model- the green wire is long enough!(Finally!) I'm so happy I can say it is a 5 star now. I recommend you run the power wire through the passenger compartment and into the dash fuse box. Much easier than trying to route outside the car to the engine bay. Perfect plug in for the lights.

by:

It would be really helpful if you had a video actually showing the installation on a Nissan Rogue. Also, many people have complained that the green wire is not long enough to reach the car battery under the hood. This has been a complaint for years, so why is this not rectified? Or why is it not able to be wired in the back like other wiring kits?

I agree, a video would be helpful. As for the green wire, the manufacturer wants you to route the wire exactly as the instructions say to without deviation so it should be the perfect length per the instructions.

@VictoriaH I have a little 5x10 trailer but I have also put an enclosed trailer that was bigger unsure of the size but it was bigger and it had no issues handling it. Loaded down with about 6 10x20 pole tents

by:

Great product! Installed last year, still great and has quite a bit of use on it. Fits exactly as it should for a factory harness.

by:

The wiring harness works perfectly on our Nissan Rouge. Thank you!

by:

I know I can give you a five star rating from previous experiences and videos supplied from your site. A few paint scratches from shipping but that is to be expected with such a heavy odd shape. A small gloss black paint stick will take care for that. A very easy installation. Should I thank Nissan or Etrailer for that.

Excellent customer service and quality products!

Looked everywhere for a 4 pin wire harness for my 2021 Nissan Rouge. Perfect fit, easy install took less than an hour fit to finish. Photos shows T-connectors separated and connected. Power was an easy run to the battery and ground was simply to chassis. I pulled the 4pin tail to the receiver… done! … First time installing any type of trailer wiring harness.

by:

Easy install… hardest part was running site from rear to battery

by:

Fast service with good video on install

by:

Quality product plug n play as advertised easy install with2 people.

by:

This is my second Nissan Rogue install. The first was a 2011, for which I already had a power cable for an amplifier that I wasn't using any more. I really prefer an inside install vs running everything outside. On this 2023 Rogue I jacked up the left front, removed the wheel, then popped all the plugs holding the fender, plus a couple of screws on the little mud flaps. I used the hole for the hood release cable to get the power cable inside. It is well protected by the fender so I'm not worried about water ingress. It feeds in behind the far left of the dash behind the fuses and was easy to pull through. I then ran it along both door foot step trim pieces and through the corner of the back seat into the spare tire area. For the light wiring I used the grommet on each side where the tail light harness passes through the body. I used heavy waterproof electrical tape to re-wrap each grommet to seal out water. The green wire with the passenger side connectors was plenty long enough keeping the control box inside by the spare tire. My last step was to insert the fuse in the red battery connector after everything was connected and buttoned up. Attached my trailer lights and everything was perfect!

Absolutely perfect so far! I always check all my lights before I go with the trailer and it’s been great!

by:

haven't installed but wiring kit looks like is "to spec", as well but requires zip-tieing a wire to the hitch crossbar from the back left to the back right lights. I wish there was a more protected path for the wiring.

by:

Good to isolate your trailer wiring from your rear tail light wiring. With everything being computer controlled, I would say this is a must. Bought this to convert separate turn/brake lights on vehicle to single tail lights on trailer. Works okay. The only problem is that when you put on a turn signal and hold the brake, the car and trailer light flash alternately. When you let go of the brake they flash in unison. Under normal circumstances this would indicate an open ground. However, I have ran separate grounds to all of the trailer lights. I also ran a ground straight to the battery along with the power wire for the unit. All connections are soldered. This is the second Rogue that I installed this on with the same result. It could be that the unit doesn't like the bulb configuration. LED brake on the Rogue, LED trailer and incandescent turn bulb on the Rogue. They fixed the problem with the green wire not reaching the passenger side tail light.

by:

It's a shame that the passengers side T-harness (green wire) is to short and needs to be extended. Also no wire sheathing to protect power wire that runs under the vehicle to the engine compartment for connection to the battery.

by:

Hitch and taillight converter went on without a problem. The hitch could use two people but one and a long reach jack can do the job

Just be advised that if your car has the foot activated tailgate you have to kick pretty close to where the tongue goes in.

Also, when you install the hitch, the holes are elongated, be sure to pull the hitch as far to the rear as you can or it may rub the muffler bracket.

by:

I contacted etrailer to be sure I had the correct hitch for my car. They confirmed it. I ordered it and it came in yesterday, bolted up perfectly. Very easy installation. Thank you!

by:

Harness instructions were not the best but I figured it out. Harness was super tight from side to side on tail lights and is preloaded. No way to route it better. Needs a few more inches for side to side routing. Other than that, very easy install.
The trailer hitch itself is a high quality and super easy install. Perfect fit

by:

It failed after a few years. First no brake lights. Now nothing. Zero voltage across the trailer plug. The power going to it is fine.

If power is entering but not leaving the converter box, the converter box is damaged and will need replacing. This is usually caused by a short circuit in the trailer wiring. Before replacing the harness, you'll want to closely examine all the wiring starting with the trailer connector on the vehicle, all the way back to the taillights. Look for damaged connectors and pinched or damaged wire. If you don't repair the short, you'll continue to blow up the converter box.
