Reduced axle sag with Timbren suspension enhancement

Just like the rear of your vehicle will sag under the weight of a fully loaded bed, the front of your vehicle will sag when under the burden of heavy equipment such as a snowplow. In this case, the front axle is handling not only the weight of the equipment, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Overall vehicle handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Install diagrams of Timbren hollow rubber springs

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above your front axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down so that the bottom of each spring touches the axle. Because each spring is making constant contact with the axle, it is always working to cushion and support your factory suspension.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's-side or passenger's-side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you're carrying off-center loads.

A snowplow mounted to the front of the truck will require extra suspension support for the front axle.

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System will help raise the front end of your vehicle when you're using heavy equipment like a snowplow. This ensures that your headlight beams will be pointed in the right direction and tire wear will be reduced. If the plow is off-center or has an extension, the springs will automatically compensate for this as well.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall when loaded. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. More elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride when loaded or towing because the rubber has more travel.

  • Should I Use Timbrens or SumoSprings to Prevent Sag on My 2022 Ram 2500 4x4?
Both the SumoSprings # SSR-312-47 and Timbren # TDF25004B for the rear axle of your 2022 Ram 2500 are jounce-style springs, but they do differ quite a bit as to the type of support they actually provide. If the bed on your Ram is pretty consistently loaded then the Timbren Rear Suspension System # TDF25004B will be the better option, as these springs are made up of a more robust Aeon rubber and consequently feature a much higher weight capacity of 6,000 pounds. They will do a better job...

  • Can Timbren Front Suspension Enhancement TDF25004B Be Installed On 2019 Ram 3500 W/ 2" Leveling Kit?
I had our warehouse measure the Timbren Front Suspension Enhancement # TDF25004B you were looking at for your 2019 Ram 3500 measures 3-7/8" tall as shown in the included diagram. Front suspension enhancement like the #TDF25004B is designed to touch the axle at all times so since you lifted your truck 2" by installing a leveling kit you will need two of the 1" spacers # A25723-90AH00. Since the measurement you provided is 5-3/4" this is confirms you will need two of the 1" spacers. You...

  • Which Timbren Front Axle Suspension Enhancement Kit Fits 2018 Ram 3500 4x4
For your 2018 Ram 3500 4x4 non-cab and chassis the correct Timbren kit for the front axle is the one you bought, part # TDF25004B. The # TDF25004E only fits the cab and chassis models and even if it did fit would be very harsh and stiff for your application.

  • Front Axle Suspension Enhancement Kit for 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Long Horn with Western Snowplow
A 400-lb Western snowplow on the front end of your 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Big Horn can certainly give you reason to consider a front-axle suspension kit to reduce sag. Thank you for the photo of your truck and plow. We offer SuperSprings kit # CSS-1168F that fits both crew and quad cab versions of your Ram 1500. This kit offers the advantage of installing inside your front coil springs, which means that there is no concern with interference with your plow's mounting hardware. Please refer...

  • Why Is There No Gap Between The Frame And Timbren SES Kit On A 1994 Dodge Ram 1500
Hi Chet, Timbren SES kits like the # TDR1525H4 and # TDF25004B you installed should have a 1/2" to 1-1/2" gap. If they do not then your factory suspension is going to need to be upgraded/replaced. The coil springs and shocks are likely worn too much to support the weight, causing the vehicle to sag down enough for the Timbren's to engage. I would look into getting your shocks and coil springs replaced to help create a gap between them and the bump stop plates. Both of the Timbren kits...

  • Do Timbren Front Suspension Enhancement Systems Add Lift to Suspension
The Timbren part # TDF25004B that your referenced would not provide you with any additional lift when installed on your truck. This is for support when under load. If anything it would cause the ride quality to get harsher if you were deep enough in the stroke of your suspension that this product was activated.

  • What Front-Axle Suspension Kit for 2011 Ram 3500 4WD Diesel Dually Crew Cab with Heavy Winch/Bumper
Both of the front-axle suspension helper kits you referenced for your 2011 Ram 3500 4WD, the Timbren # TDF25004B and the SumoSprings # SSF-302-47, are rubber jounce springs that offer progressive resistance under load. Installation will be similar - no drilling for either kit. For your particular application with a heavy front bumper and winch installed, I suggest the Timbren kit over the SumoSprings. The Sumos are great for softening general ride quality but for your application with...

  • Suspension Helper Springs for a 2015 Ram 3500 4x4 Towing 5th Wheel Toy Hauler w/5K Pin Weight
For your 2015 Ram 3500 4x4 and your heavy toy hauler trailer I strongly advise going with a heavy duty option for rear helper springs. A light or medium duty just won't offer the support that you will need for this particular trailer. For SumoSprings the heavy duty part for your truck is # SSR-302-54. For Timbren springs I recommend using # TDR3500CA which is rated for 8,600 pounds. The one you mentioned, # TDRTT3500E, is for truck models turned into service vehicles and utility trucks....

There is a front axle suspension enhancement available for your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with 2WD but the Timbren Front Suspension Enhancement System # TDF25004B is designed to work on 4WD trucks; I checked with Timbren to confirm this. Instead of the Timbrens I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-301-47 which will help cushion your Ram's front suspension and also compress if you add weight such as a snowplow. They work independently to reduce your truck's body roll when...

Draw-Tite front-mount hitch # 65046 is a confirmed fit for your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 or 3500 series pickup. Drilling two 1-1/4-inch access holes on each side of the frame is a requirement for getting the included hardware into place; you'll want to use a 1-1/4-inch hole cut saw for this. The written instructions and a video showing installation in a 2007 Ram are both linked for you. If you'll be using a snow plow in the hitch you might want to consider from front suspension support to prevent...

  • Recommended Front Suspension Enhancement On 2009 Ram 2500 Cummins
If you have a working front suspension, the Timbren Front Suspension Enhancement System # TDDF974A shouldn't raise your front end but just keep it from bottoming out. It isn't intended to change the empty ride of your vehicle, but to engage as the factory suspension needs the additional support. They do act like shock absorbers getting more rigid as they compress to support the load. If you want to engage the spring sooner you can add a spacer if needed in 1 inch increments using # A25723-90AH00...

  • Compatibility of Timbren Front Jounce Springs with Leveled 2007 Dodge Ram 2500
Trucks with a suspension lift will require measurement to determine if a jounce spring like # TDF25004B will be compatible. If your truck has a leveling kit, rather than an actual suspension lift kit, these can sometimes still cause a height increase between the frame and axle. My contact at Timbren advised that they will need an exact measurement of your frame-to-axle distance to determine if one of their front jounce spring kits will be suitable for your 2007 Dodge Ram. What you want to look for is a suspension enhancement kit that does not install in the same places as your hitch. In order to install a front axle suspension enhancement such as the Timbren # TDF25004B on a truck with a 4-inch lifted suspension you will need to take a measurement to see if Timbren has a suitable solution to adjust for the truck's lift. Timbren part # A25723-90AH00 is a 1-inch spacer but you cannot use multiples of these; we'll need to check with Timbren once we know a particular measurement. Timbren front helper springs # TDF25004B are designed to fit a stock 2006 Dodge Ram 4x4. Since yours has a leveling kit then it is possible you will still experience some sag when plowing. These will not only help to reduce sag (on stock applications) but will also help with side to side body roll which will help keep things even when plowing. • Are Spacers Needed to Install Timbren Helper Springs on Front of a Lifted 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4
It depends on how your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 was lifted. If it was a body lift then you would not need spacers. But on suspension lifts, which is what I believe you have, you would need spacers equal to the amount of the actual lift. So if the distance from the factory bump stop to the axle has increased 2 inches you would need 2 inches of spacers to install # TDF25004B. The 1 inch Timbren spacers are # A25723-90AH00 and you would need 2 on each side if you do need 2 inches. Longer hardware...

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2015 Ram 3500 to Help with Body Roll and Front End Dive
For the body roll the best solution for the rear suspension will be the part # SSA23 as it is designed specifically for fighting body roll and providing rear suspension support. The Timbrens would be the way to go for the front suspension. I would go with the 3,000 lb part # TDF25004B though as the 11k Timbrens will give you a harsh ride. These will engage after an inch of suspension travel. You wouldn't want them engaged all the time as that would also give you a harsh ride quality.
