An example of sag on a vehicle's rear axle under a heavy load

Whether you're hauling heavy loads in your bed or cargo area or you're towing a trailer, you will often see the rear of your vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Diagram of the Timbren spring installed

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits, 1" above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride that you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's side or passenger's side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you are hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer, and this helps to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or a passing semi), because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to your vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside more quickly.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. And more elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

Great product I had these on my old truck and now bought them for my new one. They work great if you have a truck camper to eliminate sag. Very easy to install took me less than half an hour.

1992 Ram 3500

Installed Item #TGMRCK25 on a 1992 SRW Chevy K3500 expecting the Timbren 2500 kit would be best match for my single rear wheel model. Timbren plate mount was one-bolt-hole short for my 3500 truck and not originally centering over the axle, but I simply reversed Timbren labeled sides and added a full length bolting plate over the Timbren plate to make it perfect installation and directly over each axle pad where it belonged. Final spacing was 1 inch air-gap between axle pad and Timbren rubber shock, when unloaded. Perfect axle-pad alignment with my additional tailoring, and absolutely stabilized my very top-heavy PU Camper (especially when coupled with new Rancho adjustable shocks). Awesome product.

1997 GMC C/K Series Pickup

I put the Timbrens on a 1997 k2500 I haul 2 mobility scooters and travel trailer. With just the scooters and no Timbrens the truck set down about 3/4-1 inch so I installed mine with the 1/2 inch space left. With just scooters it rides firm but not harsh if on dirt road or hitting a hole you will know it with trailer attached it rides great no more rear end of truck bouncing up and down when going over a bridge. Also helps on truck lean when going in curves has been a great product for me

They are still working great no regreats

by:

Haven’t tested them out yet. Going to have to order some spacers because my truck has a small lift kit. Appearance wise looks like they’re gonna do the trick. Have ordered a few things lately from etrailer. Top notch company all around.

by:

Superb. Exactly what was needed.

Installed on my 1993 1/2 ton Chevy to provide additional support for pop up slide in camper. Truck now stays level going down the road and does not swing side to side anymore. Good product.

2015 Chevrolet Silverado

Have a 24' toy hauler with two Silverados 1500 to tow a 15 and a 98. This is my second redarc brake controller for my back-up tow vehicle the 98. Bought it with a set of tibrens, well packaged and shipped fast. I have had problems in past with etrailer in their packaging multiple items together. Ex. the last redarc I bought I also ordered a class 4 hitch. Tha redarc was just tossed into the box for the hitch and was banging around no packing material etc. The hitch box was torn open in two corners during shipping. You would think common sense shipping a delicate electronic device and a big heavy hitch bouncing off each other use a little packing materiaL. Called etrailer and they said no to worry if it didn't work they would replace it. But still it could have all been avoided with a little packing material or ship them separate (each qualified for free shipping).
Really like being able to mount the redarc control box in any position, plus saves the knees Never liked the ones that mounted under the dash. Just trying to look down and taking eyes of the road to manually activate them not good. Wish the control knob was bigger or the numbers were more visible otherwise your adjusting hitting the breaks adjusting hitting the brakes till you get it where you want it then you still have be able to see what the setting number is. But that aside i wanted a built in OEM look something that wasn't in the way when not using and not visible to thieves. On my 2015 Silverado (with a heat gun) bent a piece of lexan to mount the switch in the cubby hole where the OEM brake controller installs. So the knob is a small point compared to pluses, ease and versatility of install (other than drilling a hole for control knob, hint if you have dremel tool its a big help getting the shape of the hole just right.) The Tibrens love the first set that why i bought a second, you have about an inch inch and half of suspension travel till they engage so unloaded you have a regular smooth ride, but hit a dip in the road or pothole etc and you feel the tibrens engage. which really helps in not letting the front wheels become unloaded. Other than the packing issues have been happy with etrailer, price, shipping, there my first stop. Would like to see a few things, ex. a better selection of locks for the trailer, most are just an inconvenience to a thief with a sledge hammer and a chisel or a cordless sawzall. There are better security stuff out there.t

I placed these on my farm truck and they absolutely did the trick. I haul hay trailers and cattle trailers and the difference these made over the OEM bump stops is remarkable.

1995 ChevroletC/K Series Pickup

The parts were easy to install and worked like a charm. I suggest you wash the under side of your vehicle before putting these on. the hardest part of the job was dodging the dirt and rocks I had in the frame of my vehicle.

by:

Works as it should and easy installation great product

by:

Got the product quick after restocking looking forward to installing them

About a 1/2 inch difference in gap at the bump stop perch but still within parameters. Truck sits perfect with trailer attached. Haven’t towed yet. After towing if they perform like they should will upgrade to a 5 star. Easy to install, definitely needed 2x4 and jack. 2011 Silverado ext cab with 30 ft Genisis 5th wheel.

by:

Was able to install these with a 15mm flex head ratchet wrench and lifted the rear of the truck to make it easier. 30 minutes to take off 4 nuts and put em back on. 2 minutes assembling the timbrens with the added spacer. I have a f350 with a salter and plow. Loaded with salt the lights shoot up and in the snow ?? it’s like hitting hyper drive and you’re blinded. These helped big time. Very happy so far.

by:

The pro: The longer, heavier bump stops worked great when hauling my mustang home from Chicago. The truck stayed level and handled great.
The con: I had to remove the bump stops for everyday use. They limited my suspension travel causing a stiffer ride.

by:

Haven’t had it on long, but so far so good. 1999 F350 dually. Bolted up nicely. Total job took 10 minutes. Have hauled two gooseneck loads of hay and truck drives SO much better. Nice and level. Money well spent so far.

by:

I am so glad I bought these for my truck. I was able to install them myself using a jack and jackstands. The ride is bit rougher now; but the suspension is totally awesome compared to before. I am able to haul a bit more weight when needed.

by:

very good product ,received just in time and fit perfectly on my GMC savana 2000 .Be sure to clean the two receptacle thats help.
très bon produit , reçu dans les délais et s'ajuste parfaitement . Assurez-vous de nettoyer le receptacle cela facilite l'installation.

by:

I know it will be lovely when loaded or the trailer on. However,it rides like a wagon empty with brand new premium shocks and struts empty. Thud thud thud. You really cannot feel the shocks or suspension. Found exact same item plentiful for 60 bucks on eBay after I bought these for 250. I may cut these in half or put air bag on. I do not like the ride empty. No hard feelings. It is a good product maybe just not for me.
