Video Transcript for Review of Swagman Truck Bed Bike Racks - Fork Mount - S64700
Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at The Claw fork mount bike carrier. Now, this part is great for making your own bike rack. The Claw can be attached to nearly anything, including your pickup truck beds, 2x4s, trailers, and even cargo carriers. It'll accommodate one bike that has a quick-release front wheel.
And it is designed to fit bikes that have nine millimeter skewers. Does include everything laid out here on the table. The fork clamp mount, the bike skewer with the quick-release lever, and the mounting hardware to install the mount to wherever location you want. Now, basically what you'll do is after the front wheel's been removed over your bike, what you'll do is put this onto your mount, put the nut on there. Just lightly tighten it down and then your bike fork will fit right into here.
Once the fork's in there, then you'll tighten this down until it's snug. And then you'll be able to click up or clip the quick-release lever up and that'll hold it securely in place. And then when you're ready to remove your bike, all you have to do is pull down on the quick-release lever then it loosens it, and you can take your bike right off of the mount. And then again, when you go to put it back on, just slide it into place, flip up the lever, and it'll hold it securely. Now, the distance for the mounting holes you can see on the bottom of the mount itself, if we measure those center to center, gonna be right at 5 1/2 inches.
The weight capacity on this mount is 35 pounds per bike. Again, it comes with the mounting hardware to secure the mount to your location, and a nice set of instructions that'll describe how it all goes together. But that should do it for the review on The Claw fork mount bike carrier..

These are very nice fork cleats, powdercoated steel and neatly welded. I did need to drill them to 3/8" mounting holes as my bed rail takes 3/8" hardware and these come with 5/16". Once that minor step was complete I was able to bolt them to my bed rail easily. I would recommend these over aluminum fork cleats to anyone putting together a custom bike rack.
