Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.
This stylish rack from Kuat carries up to two bikes and fits 2" trailer hitch receivers. Constructed with rigid 6061 heat-treated aluminum tubing, it is one of the lightest bike racks in its class, weighing less than 13 pounds. Innovative anti-sway cradles fit up to 3" diameter frames. It has a convenient hand tightening cam system that eliminates the need for tools by tightening the bike rack inside the hitch receiver using a large turning knob. The folding design of this bike rack allows for both easy storage and full access to your rear cargo area.
Each cradle has two straps that secure your bike by the top tube and the down tube or seat tube. The cradles fit up to 3" frames.
The Beta uses only a convenient hand knob to tighten the rack inside the hitch, unlike other racks that require a bolt and wrench.
The rack tilts forward, away from your vehicle, when you remove the pin at the base, allowing easy access to your vehicle's cargo area. The arms fold down and the hitch bar rotates 270 degrees, parallel to the upright bar. This folding design makes the rack very easy to store.

Anti-sway cradles with anti-rattle device make sure your bikes are secure.Excellent rack! Solid construction; very tidy welding; robust fittings; extremely well thought-out. Bike cradles designed more for very fat modern frame tubes than vintage steel bikes. Kuat carries straps that can help with this. Surrounding vintage bike tubes with 1 1/8" inside diameter 1/2" thick pipe insulation also helps a LOT (besides pampering the bike paint.) I DO wish that Kuat or etrailer.com would make some poly bushings for these fat cradles. Something firmer than pipe insulation would make the anti-sway work without any extra straps! (note: the other rack makers with anti-sway cradles ALSO have very large radii, and are vintage-bike-unfriendly.) Final note: the cradle that does NOT catch the seat tube can be remounted on the arm 180 degrees. This gives a couple inches wider stance for supporting the top tube on adult bikes. This is another example of how well-though-out this rack is!!
Just received this yesterday and I couldn't be happier!! After extensive research I selected this Kuat Beta to replace a Yakima RidgeBack 2. When mounted to a dual receiver accessory hitch the Yakima was too bulky, interfering with the tongue jack crank on our [email protected] camp trailer. This Kuat fits like a glove for my application, and is about 60% lighter in weight! My initial concern regarding the narrow arm spacing is actually a plus. When I mounted our Diamond Backs with rectangular cross tubes, they are actually positioned more level and quite stable. The wide tube saddles and updated synch straps that zip like cable ties are better than many of the cheaper options available. In addition, the apparent quality, lifetime warranty, and service levels by Kuat (and eTrailer) are confidence inspiring when compared with vast generic online options.
The product was out of stock when I ordered it. etrailer followed up with both phone and email contact keeping up to date. I looked at a lot of hitch bike racks both on line and at bike stores and the Kuat Beta - Aluminum Folding 2 Bike Rack for 2" Trailer Hitches - Gun Metal Gray was the best option I found. It is sturdy and light weight. It arrived ready to install. Because it is slightly offset, it does not interfere with backup camera. This is a great option If you are looking for a tilting two bike hitch rack.
I did a lot of research and decided this was the rack for me. I was totally correct. First, it has all the most important features but only weighs about 14 lbs. I was concerned as a senior lady with arthritis issues. I can use it well and it performed perfectly with an adapter bar for my Electra Townie. I have had compliments from several seasoned riders and a bike shop owner here at the beach who said it was great quality and I got a great price. Also purchased a locking trailer hitch pin with bike cable from etrailer. All over satisfaction with products and etrailer who provided enough videos to help me.
This bike rack is exactly what we wanted. Loading the bikes and securing them is a breeze. The anti rattle thumbscrews work wonderfully. Unloading and stowing the bike rack in the back of the Equinox while out riding our bikes is easy and eliminates the 'what if' problems that we've had with previous bike racks. I like it!
Great quality rack that securely holds my bike in while traveling. Love the light weight and simple operation. Only knock on design is the small knobs that are used to perform final adjustment after bike is loaded. These can spin out of the rack when not in use (in stowed position on vehicle). Fortunately Kuat only charges a buck for replacements.
This product is exactly what I wanted. The 2" post fits in the reciever perfectly, and no wiggle. I did tighten the mounting screw, but didn't have to change the hardware I have already (locks). There are two more screws to reduce the wiggles at each pivot point, and there was little to begin with. I tend to test way beyond the breaking point, and did some aggressive driving with every bump across town to the first ride. All good and I won't worry while driving with the bike attached moving forward. Only thing I wish it had was a locking mechanism, but I used a wire cable and lock. The other comparable ones with a lock were 2X the price. I can use the additional lock if I have other plans than just a trail. Service has been outstanding and I will look for any future purchases of this kind to be through etrailer.
Kuat Beta is ideal 2" hitch, 2 bike rack. It is well made, relatively light, very sturdy, and installs in a minute. We recently drove for 2000 miles with our bikes on it. Very stable, no vibration. Minimal vibration only on very rough roads, as you would expect.
This product is exactly what I was hoping to find. I initially found it recommended on-line, especially for SUVs, but I see no reason why it would not also be great for cars, vans, and trucks. Last night I installed it on my SUV, loaded two medium heavy bikes, and took it for a test drive. In my rearview mirror the bikes looked rock-solid, even going over not-smooth railroad tracks. I especially appreciate seeing that the manufacturer incorporated functional features to make this a great rack for real people with real bikes mounted to real vehicles. I was also especially impressed with the etrailer.com service. Lori B answered the telephone when I called the 800 number with a question. She was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient, and my rack was on my front porch within 48 hours. The free shipping made me especially happy. I definitely recommend this product and etrailer.com after this purchasing experience.
Excellent bike rack, sturdy and stable. Not too complicated to put on or take off. Highly recommended.
This is a great rack if you want a nice lightweight rack that's easy to put on and remove. It was easy for me as a small woman to handle it and use it. Highly recommend if a 2 bike rack works for you.
Great rack...super fast shipping. Easy to install. Kuat makes top quality racks. We also have a 3 bike Kuat Transfer.
Great product! Easy setup, lightweight, sturdy and the the ability to tilt all the way to the ground is great for van barn door opening. Thanks.
Nice finish. Very light. Quality control issues. Top tightening screw was not properly tapped so I had to bring it to a machine shop to correct it. Kuat offered to help but was asking for a video and explanation - way too many steps from them for something that should have never shipped out
Best bike rack for two bikes. Period. This rack is so lightweight it’s a joy to handle. It’s well-built and sturdy and strong. Love it!
Absolutely the most fantastic product I ever bought. Takes 2 minutes to install and off I go.
It was easy to put on our 2013 Lexus 450 hitch. Directions were clear. I liked the sturdiness of the carrier. Very solid with no wobble even over our Santa Fe, NM roads. I have included an extra mystery part picture. Let me know where it goes.
Exactly what I'd hoped for-- a simple, lightweight, well-made, functional auxiliary rack at a reasonable price. Easy to order, quick to ship... thanks etrailer!
Very lightweight and fast to install from a compact storage size; Great for bikes with metal frames, loaded trunk racks, fenders (many other rack types do not allow), and no top tube cables; used paired with extremely stable Kuat kayak roof mounts
My purchase of a Kuat Beta bike rack has gone smoothly in every way - from the online purchase and an unexpected sale price; to delivery two or three days earlier than I expected; to the mere five minutes or so it took me to put it on the back of my suv. No longer will I be pulling the wheels from my bike to fit it in the cargo area, while worrying about greasing-up myself and the carpet.
This is not your easy push button fold down rack. You have to pull and reposition a pin to fold it down. However if you like simplicity and a rack that is bomb-proof and should last forever, this is it. Mechanism to hold the bikes on is simple and secure. I like this rack.
The Kuat Beta Hitch Bike Rack is the best bike rack I have ever used. It's design, engineering, and construction are truly outstanding. When mounted in the hitch receiver, it is exceptionally solid -- no vibration or wiggles. The fact that no tools are required to mount the rack is very helpful. I have an e-bike and drive a Volvo XC40, and the Kuat Beta is a perfect match. The e-bike weighs about 24 kg (about 50 pounds) and it gets a solid ride every time. The rack is reasonably priced, and after a year's use, it still looks and works like new.
We needed a better bike rack for our mountain bikes. Our old rack used an adapter to fit in our 2" hitch opening and wobbled a lot. Also the two bars you hang the bikes on were too far apart which made it very difficult to get both bikes on there. After looking through eTrailer for a rack that would work best for us (functionally and financially) we finally found the Kuat Beta (enter angels singing here).... Fresh out of the box, this bike rack is gorgeous! Next we noticed how lightweight it is. Moving a couple different parts around (per the instructions) to get it ready to put on the car was super easy and everything moved smoothly. We slid the Kuat Beta onto the hitch and locked it with a pin, then came another great feature....the tightening knob. Can I get those angels singing again?? What a difference the tightening knob makes!! That rack is on there good and solid! Then came time to hang the bikes. The Kuat Beta arms are a few inches closer together and we had no problems getting the bikes on there. We did however, have to take the bikes off and on a couple times to determine how to best configure the sturdy plastic cradles for our particular bikes but that only took a few minutes to adjust, so no big deal there. The bikes sit nicely and the rubber straps are very sturdy and they really snap/lock into place, making us feel very good about the security of the bikes on the rack (secure meaning they won't fall off....get a good cable lock for anti theft). Driving around with the bikes on the rack felt good. The rack stayed solid and didn't wobble around like our old one. The weight of the bike rack was important to us because in addition to using it on our 2011 Subaru Outback, we also planned on attaching it to the hitch of our 1987 Scamp travel trailer. The Kuat Beta being so lightweight was awesome. My one and only complaint, which really isn't that big of a deal is this: Because of the design of the tightening knob at the base of the bike rack, the overall positioning is 2" to the right of the center of the vehicle. So if you stand back and look at it, the bike rack is 2 inches to the right. Again, not a big deal, but that means the bikes sit a little to the right and it's something I didn't even think about when ordering. This isn't really a big deal and depending on the shape of your bikes it might not matter at all. You might have more clearance between your bike's neck and seat post to shift the bike a little to the left to compensate. Again, no big deal, we still LOVE this bike rack and it was a HUGE success on our recent trip to Sedona! :)
Solid product from initial impression, prompt order processing and delivery.
I'm very happy with this bike carrier. I purchased this model primarily because of it's light weight. It has increased my opportunities to ride as the rack install is so much easier than what I previously was using. Only note is that I did not understand prior to purchase that my "beach bikes" would require an additional purchase of a special bar in order to use the rack. No problem, just felt uninformed.
