Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Quick, easy and effective.

I put the transmission cooler on a 2006 ram 2500 it keeps it 30° cooler than the OEM transmission cooler

by:

Works solidly, much better than the optional stock tranny cooler. It doesn't get temps as low as another one I've had, but it doesn't leak like that one either! Always keeps temps within acceptable range, though at the higher end of acceptable when pulling 7-8k in 110*F outside temps and hills. Be prepared to fabricate a mount for it, not a one size fits all kit!

by:

I was able to mount it but never able to actually install it and hook it up completely.

2008 Nissan Titan

i put this unit in my 2008 NIssan Titan pickup. we are going to take a 9000 mile trip this summer pulling a 27 ft HI Lo camper. The instructions were very generic. specific unit instructions would be very helpful. the grill was difficult to get out until i found a Youtube video for that. the hose provided was to short, so I made a run to the parts store. the unit appears to be well made.

This is a customer service review not a product review.
Leeza J. was very helpful in helping me get everything needed for adding a secondary transmission cooler to my Chevy truck. I ordered 3 different items and the one item was not in stock and I was promised that I would be notified when it arrived. I was notified that the item was in stock 2 days later and I received the package a few days after that. Very good service that impressed me.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado

I used this cooler on a 2004 Chevy Silverado. The accessories were not needed because I needed longer hoses and fabricated my own mounting. I think the hose clamps and the hoses could be better quality. The cooler does work very well.

by:

Worked good easy hook up

by:
2006 Chevrolet Avalanche

Super easy install. With the installation video on Youtube it took out any of the guess work. The hose could stand to be about 3" - 5" longer if you are going to center in the A frame of an older chevy grill (I have an 06 Avalanche. I had to offset to the passenger side to use the supplied hoses) But, you can get a longer hose easy enough. Just ran over the pass and back and no leaks. Looks good so far!

by:
2002 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Easy install. But hoses need to be longer. I had to go to napa to purchase an extra 3 ft. The hose clamps that were included were limited to the amount of tension that were put on them. They would tighten to x amount then just spin. I had to purchase extra hose clamps that actually tightened.
Impressed overall.

by:
1999 Ford F-150 and F-250 Light Duty

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

by:

Removing the front bumper/grill on my Odyssey was a must! Installation was pretty much straight forward once you confirm the feed, and return connection points. Mounting the actual cooler to the front radiator was the easiest part of the job. My Odyssey made two 650 mile trips pulling 2050 lbs with no problems so I’m very happy with the cooler!

by:

I have always loved etrailer and their service. Once again order another of these coolers. Drop my temp from 240 to 170-190 also remember to order extra hose, the adapter if needed for your vehicle make, mount kits. Love it. Perfect this one is on a 07 GMC Yukon XL always add an extra cooler on your 1500 gmc or chevys they help out so much for them.

  • Towing Capacity of 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with 5.3-liter V8 Engine
The best place to confirm the towing capacity of your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with 5.3-liter V8 engine is the printed owner's manual. This will reflect the capacity of your specific pickup with the particular mix of equipment installed on it at the factory, including the 3.42 differential. I reviewed the online trailering guide on the Chevrolet website and at most a properly-equipped 1500 can tow 12,000-lbs. But your 5.3L V8 crew cab 4x4 with 3.42 differential is shown as...

  • How Much Transmission Fluid to Add With Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit
Thank you for the purchase of the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D12904. In regards to the amount of fluid, there isn't a set amount to be added, it's on an as-needed basis. The added line means you'll have to put in more than you would if you didn't have the cooler, but the best thing to do really is to put it in a bit at a time and check the levels on the transmission fluid dipstick.

  • Determining Transmission Return Line To Add Transmission Cooler on 2020 Ram 1500
On your 2020 Ram 1500, the best way to determine which line is the return line on your transmission is to start the engine while the engine is cold and put the shift lever in drive for 10 seconds. Then return the shifter to park, stop the engine and remove keys. You will then be able to identify the return line by feeling both the supply and return lines because the sending line will be warm and the return line will still be cold.

  • Installing Derale Transmission Cooler, # D12904, on a 2008 Honda Pilot
To install the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D12904, on your 2008 Honda Pilot, you would take the long fasteners provided to mount the cooler. The most efficient place to mount the cooler is between the grille and the AC condenser. The included fasteners look like wire ties and go through the cooler and the component it is mounted to. On the other side, you will place a spacer and then the button lock to hold it in place. The last part of installation is to make the connections with the...

The best place to mount an automatic transmission cooler such as # D12904 on your 1967 Ford Galaxie or any vehicle is in between the vehicle grille and the AC condenser core. Here it will get the most airflow and be the most efficient. The second best place is between the AC condenser core and the radiator. And third, between the radiator and fan. • Do the Fittings in Transmission Cooler # D12904 Require Thread Sealed Tape/Sealant When Installed
Adding thread sealed tape to the fittings in the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D12904, is not necessary, but you can use some as long as it is only on the threads and not on the face of the fitting. You do not want particles getting into the transmission, so you will have to be very careful. Since it is not necessary, I recommend just using the fittings by themselves unless you discover a leak after installation. Then it would be a good idea to add the tape. I do not recommend using a...

The main difference between the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler, # D13504, and the Derale Dyno-Cool Transmission Cooler, # D12904, is the construction. The Dyno-Cool cooler is a Tube-Fin style cooler has aluminum fins surrounding the tubes. The aluminum fins dissipate the heat from the transmission fluid in the tubes. The Series 8000 cooler is a Plate-Fin cooler. Plate-fin coolers are similar to tube-fin coolers, but they are more efficient. On these coolers the fluid is forced...

Since transmission coolers are universal fit items, the Transmission Cooler, part D13502, will fit your 2008 Honda Pilot. Transmission coolers are very easy to install. It is mainly a question of reconnecting hoses and tightening clamps, and making sure you have room to mount them. We do have larger transmission coolers than the D13502, and you would simply need to measure to make sure they fit under the hood. • Installing a Transmission Cooler in a 2005 Chevy Tahoe with 5.3 Liter Engine
All vehicles with an automatic transmission have a factory installed transmission cooler. It is usually located inside the radiator out of sight.
