2013 Ford Explorer - Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class II - Efficient

  • Plate-Fin Cooler
  • Small SUV
  • With 11/32 Inch Hose Barb Inlets
  • 11W x 5-3/4T x 7/8D Inch
  • Derale
  • Standard Mount

11" Wide x 5-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep, efficient heat exchanger will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance. Specifically designed for Ford Explorers with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions.

Features:

  • Prolongs life of transmission
  • Improves overall performance
  • Prevents heat-related failures
  • Has furnace-brazed aluminum construction and 3/4" wide turbulator plates for more efficient cooling
  • Includes complete mounting kit, OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps and Insta-dapt radiator adapter
  • Recommended for small to mid-size trucks and SUVs

Specs:

  • Inlets: 11/32" hose barb
  • Overall dimensions: 11" wide x 5-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep
  • Distance between inlets: 10-1/4"
  • Mounting dimensions: 4-1/2" tall by either 5-1/2" wide or 6-3/4" wide
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

  • Replacement Hardware Kit for Trailer Hitches
Yes, we do! You'll need the Replacement Hardware Kit for Trailer Hitches item # RHK. When you click on the product page you'll go to the righthand side of the page and insert DR64FR where it says Hitch Item Number. This will give you all the hardware you need to install the Draw-Tite Hitch item # DR64FR on your 2024 Jeep Gladiator. I have linked the installation instructions below along with a video we made so you can see how to get this hitch installed. If you have any additional questions...

  • Weight Capacity of Timbren Suspension Enhancement # TGMRAZT on 2006 Buick Rendezvous
The 3000 lb rating for the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System refers to any load carried in the cargo area of the vehicle and applied to the rear axle, not the towing capacity. The only effect that towing would have on the Timbren system would be any tongue weight exerted on the vehicle by the trailer. The tongue weight (or downward force exerted on the trailer ball) would typically be 10 to 15 percent of the weight of the trailer plus the weight of anything loaded on it. If you are...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation and Installation Instructions for a 2007 Jeep JK 3.8 Liter
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13501, is a Class II efficient transmission cooler and would definitely help the transmission on your JK, but since you are towing 2,000 pounds I would recommend a bit larger Class III cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13503. You cannot cool transmission fluid too much, so the Class III cooler will provide better cooling when towing and will be good for the transmission around...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 1997 Honda CRV with Best Cooling and Ease of Installation
I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13502, for your 1997 Honda CRV. This cooler will be more than adequate for towing the weights you will be towing. You can not cool transmission fluid too much so the larger the cooler is, the better. We have a video installation of this cooler on a 2006 Honda CR-V that will be very similar to the installation on your 1997 model, see link. If you would like a smaller cooler you could go with the Derale Series...

  • What's the Best Transmission Cooler for my 2021 Toyota Highlander
Thanks for your question, Rod! You picked out a great cooler! The Derale part # D13501 would be an excellent choice for your Highlander. The 8000 series cooler uses a plate-and-fin design, which is one of the most efficient styles available for your vehicle. Placement also plays a big role in how well the cooler performs. The diagram below shows the ideal mounting locations: Position A – The cooler operates at 100% efficiency. Position B – The cooler operates at about 75% efficiency. Position...

The best transmission cooler for your 2021 Toyota 4Runner is going to be the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient item # D13503. The radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. This cooler measure 11" wide, 5-3/4" tall, and 7/8" deep. • How Much Transmission Fluid Should Be Added When Installing Transmission Cooler
The amount of transmission fluid you'd need to add after installing a transmission cooler like the Derale # D13501 really depends but typically it's around 1/2 of a quart. I wouldn't totally adhere to that figure though as the amount that spills out during the install process will vary. Best option is install the cooler with extra fluid nearby and then add as needed once the process is complete.

  • Can I Increase The Tow Rating Of My 2018 Chrysler Pacifica With Aftermarket Items
Your tow rating is your tow rating. You cannot increase it. When you are towing a trailer you are limited to the lowest maximum weight capacity of the system. In this case it does not matter if you add a trailer hitch with a maximum weight limit greater than 1,500 lbs. Since the tow rating of your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica is 1,500 lbs, this is the weight limit you must adhere to. I recommend looking for a light trailer unless you really need the trailer. In that case, you will need a different...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation For 2017 Kia Sorento
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 2017 Kia Sorento, due to its efficiency, is an 8000 Series from Derale: - Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13501 This is a plate-and-fin cooler, which means it uses smaller plates that cover more area than other coolers in order to agitate transmission fluid. Because you cannot over-cool fluids, the rule of thumb with transmission coolers is that size matters so the large 11" wide x 5-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep Series 8000...

  • Recommended Towing Package for a 2011 Mazda 3 Sedan
We have everything you are looking for, but I must warn you that Mazda does not recommend towing with this vehicle, so you would be doing so at your own risk. The other complication is that there is no stated towing capacity for your vehicle because it is not recommended for towing. You will want to be very careful if you choose to tow. • Do I Need a Transmission Cooler for Trailer Towing with a 2017 Acura MDX?
Adding a transmission cooler to your vehicle that is towing a trailer is usually a good idea. The extra weight added by the trailer and its cargo puts additional strain on your vehicle's transmission, causing it to run hotter which will shorten the life of your transmission in the long run. For your 2017 Acura MDX, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13501. This is a Class II transmission cooler and uses turbulator plates for more efficient cooling. • Will a 2016 Ford Fusion SE Tow a 1,100 Lb Trailer
I cannot recommend that you tow a 1,100 lb trailer with your 2016 Ford Fusion SE that has a maximum towing capacity of 1,000 lbs for liability reasons but in all honesty, you would most likely be just fine. Personally, I wouldn't really be concerned with towing over capacity by only 100 lbs. I would just avoid hilly areas if at all possible. In order to tow a trailer with your Fusion you will need a trailer hitch, trailer wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball. Also, if you will be...

  • Which Transmission Cooler is Recommended for a Nissan Frontier with 6,500 Pound Towing Capacity
The best way to decide which class cooler you need is to take a look at what you will be towing and where. If you will be towing a light load, less than 2,000 pounds, in flat driving conditions, your vehicle will do fine with a Class I. If you will be towing 6,000 pound load through some hills, I would use the Class III cooler. I prefer the 8000 and 9000 series. They are built a little heavier and are more resilient. The 7000 series are built a little lighter and can be damaged more easily...

  • Do I Need a Transmission Cooler for Towing with a 2011 Honda Pilot with FWD
I will start out by saying that transmission coolers are a relatively cost effective and easy to install aftermarket add on that you can put on your vehicle to help prolong the life of your transmission regardless of whether or not you'll be towing. They aren't required when towing, but they will definitely help reduce the stress on your 2011 Honda Pilot during this long trip. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2013 Nissan Frontier
A lot of vehicles have external transmission coolers similar to the Derale Transmission Cooler # D13501 that you referenced. Some of these coolers are adequate for towing whereas others do not keep the fluid cool enough. My understanding is that there are two transmission coolers on your 2013 Nissan Frontier. • Can the Factory Transmission Cooler on a 2007 Nissan Frontier be Bypassed
We don't have a video but I can tell you how you would bypass the factory transmission cooler in the radiator of your 2007 Nissan Frontier. There is a line running to the radiator from the transmission and another running from the radiator to the transmission (the supply and return lines). • Recommended Size Transmission Cooler for a 2007 Nissan Altima with CVT
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13501 would be a good size for a 2007 Nissan Altima so this is what I recommend. • Transmission and Power Steering Cooler Options for a 2006 Honda Pilot Towing 1520 Pound Trailer
