Does the Pollak Trailer Side 7-Way Connector Use Brass Terminals?

Updated 10/19/2025 | Published 10/17/2025

Question:

The Pollak Trailer Connector - PK12706 and your etrailer connector Part Number A7WCB item photos indicate brass terminal construction. Can you please verify brass terminal construction. The more common tin plated steel connections all eventually rust and corrode.

Hey William. I can confirm that the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector item # PK12706 and it's Optronics counter part item # A7WCB do indeed have brass terminals.

What kind of trailer do you have?

Thanks for the confirmation! Between me, my nephew, and friend we have 3-4 tandem axle trailers with brakes we sometimes share depending on what we may haul. Like I previously said the tin plate steel connectors all eventually corrode and just when you need to use a trailer you have to work with to get a good connection, particularly on the brake contact. Apparently the brake controller sends a test pulse looking for a low resistance circuit to brake magnets in order to verify "Trailer Connected".
