Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Today we're taking a look at a Peterson Luminex LED backup light. This oval light functions as a backup light for your trailer work truck. It features durable surface mount technology when it comes to the construction of the led circuit board. That design better withstands shock and vibration and allows for improved heat distribution in a thinner construction.It is an LED system. LEDs make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer, they burn brighter, they're much more efficient.
With LEDs, you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs or worry about brittle filaments. It does feature a sealed design, so it is protected from the elements. It's a recessed mount installation with a mounting grommet and it also accepts an industry standard two prong plug.Both of those items, the grommet and the plugs are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. It is Department of Transportation compliant. It meets FMVSS 108 requirements for automotive lighting.
And the product's made in the USA. When it comes to the measurements of the light, we'll look at those real quick and then we'll hook it up to power.Edge to edge going this direction. It's about six and a half inches. Edge to edge going this direction. It's about two and one quarter inches.
All right, we'll go and hook it up to power. That way you can see what it looks like with some power running to it. We'll also turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a low light setting.So when the reverse function is activated, you can see how this will eliminate, sends out a very bright, clear, consistent signal. We're looking at seven white LEDs with a clear lens, so it allows plenty of light to come through. And then the multi diode design really helps optimize the overall light output.
The input voltage for this unit is rated for nine volt to 16 volt DC. That's going to do it for today's look at the Peterson Luminex LED backup light.

Received lights. With some modifications, I should be able to mount them
This is a review of etrailer as the product is 4*. The lights came loose in a box so all 4 lights lenses are scratched. When you spend 16-21$ a light you expect them to handle with care but they don’t.
The installation was done without problem and the lights worked as expected.
Nice reverse lights better than my old incandescent ones
My order was rather simple. Clear lense LED lights, 4 inches in diameter. They replaced the existing lights without any problem. All of the products that I have received from eTrailer have been exactly what I expected. Perfect match with wiring and plugs. Also, some of the best prices I've found.
Easy instillation and very bright. But you must be very thorough that you have the right sized grommet for the hole in the bed or trailer AND for the light you are using. Not all grommets are the same as with trailers and flat beds so make sure that you double check the hole size both ways of the bed and the light to minimize head aches when you go to install.
