Confirming Your Fit
If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.
You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Adam: Hi, everyone. Adam with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Pewag Square Link Snow Tire Chains, with cam tensioners. So these chains are going to be designed for some of those more wide and thick tires that you may have, and it is going to give you an extremely aggressive grip. So it is kind of like a ladder patterned-style with these square links. They're going to wear evenly, and they're all made of the same material, which is a manganese nickel alloy steel.
So it's going to resist against that rust and corrosion and all of that salt that's on the road when there's snow. Also, it does have some cam tensioners. They're really, really easy to do and it just makes it very easy to install, because we all know if you're putting these on, you're either stuck or in some cold situations. So making it really easy to put these on is definitely a plus for me.So these square links are going to be about 5.6 mm in width. So it's going to be pretty big.
And with this cross chain pattern as well, it's going to give you about 32% more traction, compared to some of the other ones in this market.So these aren't the most aggressive chains that we get for these tires. We do have some V-Bar ones that are going to be a lot more aggressive. They're going to have more like daggers sticking out. They're going to grip a lot better, but they're going to wear a little bit more. Also, there's some twist links that we have.
It's not going to be as aggressive as our square links here, but they're going to ride a little bit smoother as well.But all of these are going to come in a pack of two. So if you have four wheel drive applications or all wheel drive, just go ahead and use our fit guide on our website, and just type in your tire size and just grab two pair.We do also recommend just grabbing one of these rubber tensioners. Shipping was extremely fast , received my order in 2 days . Chains are high quality and should last a long time. Bought these for all 4 tires of my ‘01 Ford F-350 , tires are BFG All Terrains Lt285-75-R16. They fit perfectly, will probably be cutting 2 links off of the backside where the two ends hook together. The chains came.2 per sack with a cam tightening tool in each sack. I modified the tool to make it easier to use when your hands are frozen.

Chains worked as designed. We use them in our trips to our farms in Montana and Wyoming when roads are open of course. Truck and trailer do not slip or fish tail.

Pewag always has been the standard for chains that are designed to do the work when you have to get work done. The fit was as expected you just have to tie back the tails on the inside where they don’t hit the strut tower. A couple of zip ties works

These Pewag chains are VERY heavy duty and seem to be well made and strong. The cam tighteners will make adjusting chains easier.

2nd set of the Pewag tire chains I purchased here in the last four years. Loved the first set, still use them here in Wisconsin and Montana. Needed to purchase another set to fit some larger oversized tires. These are by far the BEST tire chains I've ever owned. These are for plowing in Maine winter, and these chains are massive! Talk about high quality and super heavy duty!
I put them on with ease. Fitment is perfect.
If you want the best chains on the market, get pewag. The camlock tool is equally heavy duty, big & strong.

Ordered chains on a Fri afternoon (Pacific Time) and was a little concerned about delivery before my trip the following Thu. Pleasantly surprised to receive a response later that Friday evening that order was processed and already on its way. Chains arrived the following Tuesday with standard shipping. Didn't end up needing to use chains on my trip to Mammoth but glad I have them and the order processing by etrailer was excellent.

I ordered the Pewag wide base tire chains on Sunday and they arrived on Wednesday. The chains are all they were said to be. High quality American made. Tire chains are a tool you hope you never need, but are invaluable when you do need them. I plan on using them on my wide profile tires on my F-350. A local municipality uses them on their plow truck all winter. The Pewags have lasted five seasons while lesser brands require replacement after one season.

They are made of alloy rather than low carbon steel; which can break when you most need them, and even damage your rig.
Do yourself a favor, and invest in good quality USA made chain. Think about it. If you need chains, you are already in a bad situation to begin with. Spend the extra money to buy real chains. It's worth it.
The square link works very good on ice and snow, and also works great as mud chains for outdoorsman who spend time in the wilderness.

got me out of more than one jam, slam these babies on and you can plow in 2wd if you choose. ive used em in deep snow and icy roads in northern maine where my studded winter tires werent enough alone... if i had clearance enough for turning id get a set for the front and drive to the top of Katahdin!

These chains on my Jeep Rubicon are fantastic. I am a volunteer firefighter and EMT in the mountains of Colorado. I need to get to emergency incidents in the worst of weather. These chains make that possible.
