What Size Thread Tap for Installing etrailer Hitch on 2008 Honda Odyssey
Updated 04/16/2020 | Published 04/15/2020 >
Question:
I dont know if weld nuts are standard across all vehicles, so Im wondering if this tap and drill bit set is what I need for a 2008 Honda Odyssey. Being more than a decade old, Im certain that a little rust blaster wont be sufficient to clean out the holes, so I figure I should ask about the tap when I buy the hitch.

Expert Reply:
Weldnuts on vehicles as old as yours are going to be pretty dirty. Your plan of ordering a thread tap at same time as hitch is smart and will save you time as it's the most efficient way to clean dirty weld nuts. The thread tap size you'd need to install the etrailer hitch # E98862 is M12-1.25 which is a pretty standard size but not always same size as every vehicle.
