Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

  • What Size Bolts are Used to Install Draw-Tite # 75547 on a Honda CR-V
The Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver, part # 75547, uses 4 hex bolts that are M10 X 1.25 X 30. However, you shouldn't tap the threads uness you absolutely have to as a last resort. I highly recommend cleaning them before tapping them. I've linked an article and a video that shows this process for you. I've included a link to a video of the installation for you as well.

  • Will Hitch From 2011 Honda CR-V fit 2016 Model
For your 2016 Honda CR-V, I'd recommend the # Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 75742. For a trailer wiring harness, if needed, use the Tow Ready # 118561. Unfortunately, the 2011 model was the last year of the 3rd generation of the CR-V models, and your 2016 model is of the 4th generation. There are enough significant differences in the rear undercarriage of the 3rd and 4th generations that your Hidden Hitch from your 2011 model won't work on your 2016, I'm sorry to say. • Towing Capacity and Recommended Towing Components for 2010 Honda CR-V
I checked your owners manual online and your CR-V is rated to pull 1500 lbs max as you stated. I wouldn't hesitated to pull a 1200 or 1350 lb pop-up camper but you do need to make sure it has brakes. You will need a hitch, ball mount, wiring harness, and a brake controller. I recommend the following for your 2010 Honda CR-V: -Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13555 -T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118427 -7-Way RV Upgrade...

  • Trailer Hitch Weight for a 2011 Honda CR-V
I'd be happy to help! All of the hitches for your 2011 Honda CR-V weigh relatively the same when it comes to the different classes, and while the Class I hitches definitely weight lighter I recommend using a Class III hitch since they have a 2" receiver and can handle a wider variety of accessories. Out of the hitches listed below I recommend the Draw-Tite Hitch # 75547 since it's a Class III hitch with a weight of about 27 lbs. Here are the rest of the hitches: Class I Draw-Tite -...

I have attached the installation instructions of the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7291 for a 2008 Honda CR-V to this answer page for you. In regards to installation, this is a bolt-on fit with a very clean finished install look. It has a hidden crosstube so you only see the receiver tube once installed. Please note, you do need to trim the rear bumper fascia for installation but this is because of the hidden design. If you don't want to trim then I recommend the Draw-Tite...

  • Troubleshooting Hitch Install Bolts Not Threading Into Frame Rail Weld Nut
We get this question quite a bit and the issue is really that the threads end up with quite a bit of corrosion and dirt which prevents the bolt from threading in. I attached a couple help articles that cover cleaning out weld nuts for you to check out but typically using a thread tap will get the threads cleaned. The size bolts are M10X1.25X30 CL8.8.

  • Best Hitch for a 2011 Honda CR-V
I pulled the manual for your 2011 Honda CRV. It says your vehicle tops out at 1,500 lbs for towing capacity so paying extra for a 4,500 lbs capacity hitch like item # 75547 doesn't make sense. Adding this high of a capacity hitch won't give you anymore than the 1,500 lbs your CRV is rated for. The best hitch for both value and ability is going to be the etrailer Hitch item # e39AR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your 2011 Honda CR-V with included hardware. This is our house brand...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Carrier With Ramp for 2009 Honda CR-V
According to your owner's manual your 2009 Honda CR-V can hold up to 850 lbs of passengers, cargo, and trailer tongue weight. The trailer tongue weight is the same as the cargo carrier and lift. The strongest hitch we carry for your vehicle is the Draw-Tite # 75547 which is my recommendation for your application. This hitch by itself is rated for a maximum weight of 675 lbs tongue weight. If you will be carrying the power chair on the interior of the vehicle we don't have a carrier...

  • Class II or Class III for 2010 Subaru Legacy Ground Clearance
Honestly, going with a 1-1/4 inch hitch is only going to gain you 3/4 of an inch of increased ground clearance which is pretty minimal, I'd recommend going with the more versatile Class III hitch. If you're concerned about the bottom of the hitch receiver hitting the pavement, you could use a skid wheel like # UF48-979020 which mounts to a 2 inch receiver, and will work whether or not you have an accessory mounted in the hitch. I'd recommend going with the Curt Class III hitch, part #...

  • Difference Between Square and Round Tube Trailer Hitches for 2010 Honda CR-V
There are both Class I and Class III trailer hitches available that are confirmed to fit your 2010 Honda CR-V. The available Class I hitches, such as the Draw-Tite Sport Frame # 24792, feature a square tube design, while the Class III hitches like the Draw-Tite # 75547 have a round crosstube. • Replacement Hardware Kit for Trailer Hitch that Fits 2008 Honda CR-V
We do have hitch hardware for a 2008 Honda CR-V that uses a U-bolt like you are in need of. What you'd want is the part number # RHK and on the product page enter the part number # 75547 as this is a hitch that fits your vehicle and uses a U-bolt. Since hitch install hardware is one time use it would be best to get all new hardware anyway. If you can find a different part number on the hitch let me know though and I'll see if there's a better part number to get.

For exactly the reason you stated, Thule states that none of their trunk mounted racks will work with your 2011 Honda CR-V. Yakima states a few of their trunk-mount racks will fit. Occasionally, we will have one manufacturer state that the vehicle is compatible with a trunk mount rack, and the other will say that it is not. • How Much Cargo Weight Can 2009 Honda CR-V Carry in Trailer Hitch Cargo Carrier
You are correct that your 2009 Honda CR-V has a tongue weight capacity of 150 lbs regardless of what hitch you install on it. So if you install a Class III hitch like the Draw Tite part # 75547 and then install a folding cargo carrier in it like the Curt # C18151 you'd need to subtract the weight of the carrier from the tongue weight capacity to determine how much you could carry in the carrier. I do recommend torqueing the bolts for the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75547 on a 2011 Honda CR-V to spec. In regards to the condition of the weld nuts, the only thing you can do is tap them to clear out the rust so you can then thread the bolt in. If the bolts do not torque or the weld nuts break then you will have no other choice but to drill them out and replace them with carriage bolts and spacer blocks. There is also the option to tap the weld nuts to the next...

I would certainly view the owners manual on the 2011 Honda CR-V to ensure the correct towing capacity. I wouldn't recommend towing a 16 foot Casita travel trailer weighing 2100-2385 pounds if the capacity turns out to be 1500 pounds which is what it is for United States spec models. The smaller hole is not used at all. If you have a hitch mounted accessory with a 1/2 inch hole, then it is probably intended to be used with a 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver, rather than a 2 inch receiver.
