Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Honda Pilot - Draw-Tite

Today in our 2017 Honda Pilot, we'll be having a look at and installing the Draw-Tite Class 3 Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 75225. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. The first thing that we'll notice about our hitch is that the main frame of the hitch itself is completely hidden behind a rear fascia. Th only parts that we will see hanging down is the actual class 3 2-inc receiver itself with our safety chain loops on the side of the receiver. Now on our safety chain loops, they're a unique design where they're on a plate that's welded to the side of the receiver which has a large opening right here, and they actually hang down a little bit below the receiver, which isn't a big deal. A lot of factory hitches on a lot of higher-end vehicles actually have a design like this because they give you optimal room for inserting pins and locking devices into your hitch to secure whatever hitch-mounted accessory you have. Now off to the left-side of our hitch, towards the driver's side, you'll notice that they have a bracket that's welded onto the frame of the hitch. What this bracket allows us to do is to mount any electrical connections that we have to hook-up to our trailer's wiring systems, either a 4-full 00:01:17 flat, 7-way RV or whatever other style of electrical connector you have, you can mount it right back here. Now on the side of our receiver, you'll notice that we have two pinholes.

The larger one towards the front of our vehicle is our industry-standard five-eighths of an inch diameter hitch pinhole that we use to secure our hitch-mounted accessories. The one closest to the rear of the hitch and the rear of the vehicle, what this one is is a J-pin stabilization device hole. What a J-pin stabilization device does is help take away some of the annoying shake, play and rattle out of what is inserted in your receiver. At the very back of our receiver, we have this nice welded on collar right here, which helps give our hitch a little bit more strength and durability, but also finishes off with a nice clean look. Now this hitch features a 900 pound max tongue weight rating which is the amount of force pushing down. It also features a 6,000 pound max gross trailer weight rating which is the amount you're pulling. It does support the use of weight distribution.

However, the max gross tongue weight rating stays the same at 900 pounds but our max gross trailer weight rating increases to 8,000 pounds. You'll want to consult with the owner's manual of the Pilot and not exceed the limits of the vehicle as rated for. Now what I really like about this hitch compared to other ones on the market is that we have a lot of clearance around our fascia with our receiver opening here, making this hitch an ideal candidate to use with bike racks and cargo carriers. Additionally, I do like the style of safety chain loops that our hitch here has, the best out of all the ones on the market because, if we have a large hitch-locking device installed to secure our ball mount into our vehicle's hitch, we don't have to worry about that area blocking our safety chain loops and making them difficult to install our safety chains onto our hitch. Now for a few measurements to better assist you in choosing any hitch-mounted accessory you may need such as a ball mount, bike rack or cargo carrier. You're looking at about 14 and a half inches from the ground to the top of the receiver opening and about five inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear-most part of the back bumper. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed. All right, to begin our install, we'll start by opening our hatch.

Now we'll open up our cargo cover. Now we'll gain access to our spare tire tools, they're off on the driver's side. Right in the middle of our cargo area, we'll see our spare tire indicator here. We'll pry this open, take out this rubber plug. We'll use our tire iron, small end, to go over that part, then we'll use our hook, go into our tire iron, go counter-clockwise and we'll lower our spare tire.

Then we'll get our spare tire out of the way. With our spare tire down now, we have clear access to all of our attachment points. We'll have a look over at our driver's side and we'll point them out. We have three weld nuts on our frame rail right at the bottom. Our passenger side is the exact same way, so whatever we do on the driver's side, we'll do the same on the passenger side. It's a good idea to take a wire brush and clean out those weld nuts of any loose dirt and debris which could make it difficult to go in. We have these brushes available on our website as part number 814092. So we'll just go in and out of them a few times to help clean up the threads. Right, now that we have all of our weld nuts cleaned out, I'll point out how our hardware's gonna work. We have six identical bolts and six identical conical toothed washers. The washer will slide onto the bolt, the teeth will face away from the bolthead towards the hitch and the body of the vehicle. And inaudible 00:05:29 the hardware's the same for all the holes. All right, with all of our hardware in place, we'll now use a 22 millimeter socket and tighten it down. Okay, now all of our bolts are tightened down, we'll torque them to the amounts specified in the instructions. We went ahead and put back up the spare tire and as you can see, it fits nice and perfectly back where it originally was so there's no worries about our spare tire not fitting back into place with the hitch installed. We went ahead and put back our cover here for our spare tire lowering mechanism, we put our tools back in place. Now we can close up our cover, close our hatch and we're ready to hit the road. And that completes our look at an installation of the Draw-Tite Class 3 Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 75225 on our 2017 Honda Pilot.

Bought this for my 2017 Honda Pilot. Worked perfectly and I installed in myself in under 2 hours. The hardest part was trying to hold it up to get the first bolt in as it is rather heavy (which is good since it will be towing stuff!). Everything fit well and I will only have to stop by a mechanic somewhere to get the bottom bolts properly torqued. I do have a torque wrench, but it only goes up to 80 Ft/lbs. This requires substantially more. Overall a great product and with the video install guides, I will continue to purchase from etrailer. 403578

I am very happy with the results from the trailer hitch and wiring harness I purchased from etrailer.com. Installation was very easy and I saved $800.00 from a dealer install. Thanks. 557893

Dealer wanted $800+ for the hitch and wiring and "we'll order it and you can come back in a week or so for a two hour appointment." I ordered the hitch and it came 2 days later, then I installed the hitch by myself in about 30 minutes using a couple of jackstands to hold it in position before I bolted it in place. Note: I have installed hitches before on several vehicles - the 2016 Pilot hitch install is the easiest one I have ever done. (Installing the wiring kit was a bit awkward, but not too bad.) 305908

package arrived on time. the box arrived damaged scratches on paint but I still installed it. installation was easy thanks to you tube. the bracket for the wiring was short for my 2017 Honda pilot. bracket needs to be at least 3 inches longer I have attached some pictures other than that I would have been much happier it will do for now. I Hope this review help for the piloteers. 373165

Very easy to install and it did not require me to remove the spare tire even though the instructions say to. The hitch looks great because it doesn't look like an aftermarket product. Very hidden in the view from the rear of the car and the quality looks top notch. I'm using it mostly for bike racks but should I need electrical I will definately order that as well from you. 228922

All is well and it works great. Had electrical hooked up by [...] last month to tow a trailer and it worked great. I use it mainly for hauling my bikes around with a bike rack so it was a good test to haul wood with a 16 foot trailer as well.

Bought a Hitch & Light Kit for my 2017 Honda Pilot. The deals wanted $1400.00 installed. Your videos honestly tell you how hard it may be to install and how to do it so I put money back in my own pocket instead of a greedy dealers! I found you'll because my brother Harley F. Illes, Belleview, Fl. bought one very recently for his spouses 2016 Dodge Durango and highly recommended you'll. I seldom appreciate the customer service at the levl you'll provided because to many companies anymore it's just lip service. Thank you'll for remembering that you can make a pretty good living providing service with excellence in mind. People this is a sincere review for you to consider. I don't work for this company and other than this purchase I didn't know them. 385195

I'm glad I found this site! Just purchased a 2016 Honda Pilot Elite and the dealer wanted $1465.00 to install a trailer hitch. He blamed the high price on the "4" hours of installation and new wiring. For less than $200 and an easy to follow installation video, I installed it myself in less than 30 minutes. Didn't need to drop the spare either...fit right into place! Great sales recommendations and follow up from the etrailer staff. This company knows how to run a business and keep a customer satisfied. 5 stars out of 5 stars. 238513

Received the trailer hitch as scheduled. Installed it on my 2014 Acura MDX without any assistance; and without having to jack the car up. Having two people to install would have been a little easier ... even at that it was only a 20 - 25 minute install. Fits perfectly and the hitch is exactly what I ordered. Appreciate the easy tracking system too. 299593

The Hitch was exactly as advertised and literally took 30 minutes to install. My steps were a little different than the instructions: I cleaned each pre-tapped hole on the vehicle using corrosion prevention spray and a used tooth brush. I slid the bar under the SUV using the box as a support to prevent scratches, lifted one end and supported using jackstand and then the other end. I used threadlocker on each bolt, and hand-tightened three bolts on one side, then the other. Using a 7/8 socket, tightened each bolt a little bit at a time to prevent seizing. Some seizing did happen on one of the bolts as the bolt was pushing the support plate against the frame of the car; lots of torque and a few rotations at a time will tighten the gap. 224631

Ordered Draw Tite hitch #75225 Saturday afternoon, hitch delivered Wednesday. Checked dimensions on hitch bolt holes and it was a perfect match for the weld nuts on our 2017 Pilot. Cut out large piece of cardboard from shipping box so cardboard 1-2 ft larger than hitch in length/width. Removed spare tire and placed cardboard on concrete behind vehicle. Put 3 fully collapsed jack stands with rubber pads on cardboard then put hitch on jack stands (one each side of hitch, one in rear by receiver) and slid cardboard under vehicle. Sequentially slowly raised jacks and adjusted cardboard so that bolt holes in hitch lined up with and were just below the weld nuts in vehicle. Inserted 2 bolts on each side of hitch. Only put bolts in 2-3 turns initially so that could adjust position of hitch. Lowered jack stands, removed jack stands and cardboard and inserted remaining 2 bolts. Vehicle is brand new so no need to clean threads on weld nuts. Adjusted hitch into final position then tightened bolts with half inch ratchet followed by half inch breaker bar. Hardest part of installation was getting torque on bolts. Lying on my back on a creeper I couldn't get enough leverage on the torque wrench so I used a 3 ft. length of pvc pipe over the torque wrench to gain additional leverage. It probably took 45 min to get the correct torque on the bolts and this includes finding and cutting the pvc pipe. Estimate it took approximately 2 hours for the whole installation and this includes moving vehicles around in the driveway, tool collection and replacement and spare tire removal and replacement. The installation was done single handed with the vehicle on a concrete driveway and I'm 70 yrs. old. The hitch fits perfectly and looks great on the Pilot. I like that this hitch comes with a mounting plate for the trailer wiring connector. I plan to bolt a 4 flat connector mounting bracket #118144 to the hitch plate to hold the 4 flat plug. The hitch will be used to tow a flat bed utility trailer and a waverunner. I like ordering from etrailer because they have very good products, great customer support and great installation videos. I am a repeat customer many times over and have been purchasing from them for almost 15 years. 366155

Easy bolt on! Let spare down a little to give wiggle room to line up bolts - nuts are pre placed by Honda. The hardest part was torquing the bolts to specs listed. I bought this hitch specifically for the wiring mount pad - great for 7 wire w/brakes. Put it all in, included the brake control in about an hour and a half. Pulls a 3500# trailer like a champ! 400047

Did you have to remove the spare tire to do the installation?

The instructions specify to remove the spare for installation and re-install afterward. Some folks find it's easier to lower it but not take it all the way off, but when we installed the hitch in our shops, we found there was no need to remove the spare. Check out the video.

Hitch was well made and easy to install. Just what I was looking for. etrailer was great at getting it to me quickly. I also purchased a hitch wiring set be Tekonsha. It was designed to work with my 2018 Honda Pilot. I followed the instructions but had no power at the hitch connector. The people at e trailer where great at helping me get things working. Turns out the newer Pilots are missing a couple of required fuses. Once they were installed it worked perfectly. I was very pleased with etrailer. Great products and support. 573113

This is my second hitch from etrailer. The first one was for my 2010 Acura MDX and now this one is for my 2018 Acura MDX. My use for this hitch is to attach my bike rack. I am pleased with the quality of the hitch and the amount of money I saved by not getting one from the dealer. I would admit, I like the dealer integrated looks but not for the amount of money they want for it. On both occasions, I had Uhaul installed it for me. Today's installation charge was $35 NYC area. If I had tools and a way to raise my car up a little bit, I could have done this myself. It's very quick and simple installation process watch the video. As I recently purchased an 18 Honda Pilot EX-L, I was contemplating just having the dealer do the install on an OEM hitch. At well over $1000, I knew that I could save hundreds with a hitch from E Trailer. I only use my hitch to carry my bikes on a Thule platform rack, but with thousands of miles of use with three different cars, I have become spoiled to the ease of loading and unloading my bikes with the platform rack. This is the 4th Draw-Tite Hitch that I have ordered from etrailier.com over the past 6 years. Hands down, by far the easiest to install. I think it took me longer to unpacked the hitch that actually tighten down the 6 bolts. With the spare tire removed, there was plenty of room. I used my floor jack to raise the hitch up to a level that I could hold the hitch while starting one bolt by hand.I then tightened the other two and moved to the other side. I finished by using a torque wrench to tighten all six bolts to specs. As always, the videos are very detailed, and the customer service is top notch. I spent a couple extra dollars for upgraded shipping and it paid off, the hitch was at my door step a few days after I ordered it. Great job E- Trailer! 486575

Receiver easy to install. Great product. A little difficult to torque the mounting bolts to 185lb. Wiring harness was very easy to install. Only a couple of removable access panels and the job was done. 442378

This hitch was easy to install by myself. It's held up great after a year. The cargo carrier is also perfect. It has made our long road trips much easier with our kids having so much stuff now! Thanks for a reliable product at an affordable price. I have referred you to many people. 264329

Hitch was well packaged. The box arrived with some tears but no damage, nicks or scrapes to the hitch. My car is not garaged so there was a good amount of rust buildup in the factory drilled bolt holes. The Magic to get all that gunk out was WD-40 rust release penetrate spray and a 1/2” wire fitting brush hardware stores have them in the plumbing section Once rust was cleaned out installation took about 25 minutes. I installed the hitch solo. Getting the specified torque on the bolts was a workout ! I used 2 Eddie Bauer hanging dome lights to I’ve me great visibility workkng. They are my go to lights. About 10 bucks a piece on-line. 469552

Compared to the pricing others charge, if you have the tools, it is a 15 minute project! The quality of the hitch is as good or better than any I have seen. Fits perfectly on my 2016 Pilot Touring edition. Didn't have to lower the tire to install - 6 bolts and you are done. Just as a heads up - the kit I received had 22MM bolts - I have an extensive array of sockets and didn't have one of that size. You may need to 'borrow' a 22MM to finish your project. Additionally, the directions call for 148 lb-ft of torque to each bolt - that is a LOT for anyone, even with the appropriate tools. Not impossible, just also something to consider. Packaged arrived very, very quickly! No issues with the shipment! This is the third hitch I have purchased from etrailer.com and I will be back for my fourth! 238951

Saved $200 by doing this myself. I was a little concerned about the negative feedback about the shipping boxes being destroy upon delivery. But as you can see, it came intact and was delivered promptly to my front door. This installation was very easy. I watched the video for both the trailer hitch and wiring harness and it was exactly like the video indicated. I will tell you on the wiring harness you do not have to pull the panel back. Just get a mirror and locate the connector behind the panel and you can pull it down to the opening. 465223

My son referred me to etrailer.com. He's used the site for his last two trailers and raves about it, now I know why. The installation was as easy as described and the video was perfect for my 2016 Pilot. The Hitch installed in ~30 mins. I purchased the hitch, wiring harness for 7 pin adapter, 7/4 pin plug and mount, brake controller, and plug for the harness. In order to raise the tow capacity to 5000lbs from 3500lbs, I had the transmission cooler installed at the dealer. They insisted that only Honda can install without cutting/splicing wires and that my electrical system would be damaged. The harness literally plugged into the existing plug for which it is designed. Clean install without a single wire cut/spliced. The only problem I had was with the little silver tie down as it was put in by a gorilla and wasn't coming out. Fortunately, I was able to get the plug from behind the panel without removing that piece. When I installed the brake controller, I learned from the comments that the plug is buried so I knew to look harder than expected. The dealer wanted over $500 to install just the hitch, no wiring. I've installed the hitch, wiring, brake controller and wiring for $427. 519892

I like it , as advertised it was simple to install. It took me 35 minutes to complete the task simply followed the instructions and the video. I need to carry a cargo carrier every now and then this is a near perfect very well made product. My only complaint is the harness bracket it pokes out against the lines of the car. It would be nice if the bracket hid behind the bumper. 388804

this is my 2nd purchase from etrailer...the first hitch and wiring package i had an automotive store install it for $450...this time i told my wife "i am going to try it myself..cross ur fingers"...well only after about 1 hour..i actually completed installing the tekonsha wiring and draw tite hitch...i just stacked old wooden blocks to help balance the other side of the hitch and somehow was able to secure the middle bolt..then opposite side middle bolt...rest was easy....but what i benefited most from was your great clear simple and step by step videos and comments from others who provided their ideas (like using the cars predrilled screw hole and secure the grounding wire with a 10mm bolt so i didn't have to drill into my wifes brand new Pilot)..that was sweet...so here i am a 69 year old guy with minimal knowledge of installing much of anything and i saved about $200+..doing it myself....this suggests u don't need to be mechanically inclined to install these parts...thanks to etrailer and other's like me who are reluctant do-it-yourselfers 292824

The hitch arrived promptly and well packaged. The hitch is super beefy with well made welds. After reading some other reviews, I decided to try not to lower the spare tire. Success! I simply used two jack stands to support the hitch while raising one edge enough to grab a few threads. The entire install only took 20 minutes! I decided to purchase the draw-tite model over the other two selections because it has the bracket to mount a trailer wiring box. This mount as well as the hitch opening sit just below the rear bumper valance and does not add any length to the car. It all tucks inside the bumper so you don’t have to worry about banging your shin on the hitch. In my opinion having this wiring box below the bumper level is well worth the extra $30-40 dollars to not have to fish up inside the bumper to find the wiring. It looks super clean and makes it easier to make the connections. 617319

Very easy to Install. It looks good on my new Honda Pilot. Would I buy again from etraler.com yes I would. The hardest part of the entire job was removing the stapes from the box so I could recycle it. 616175

Heavy duty hitch. It fit my 2018 Pilot perfectly. I installed it by myself, two people would have been easier but people kept canceling on me so I did it solo. Get the brush for the screw holes , clean threads are a must. Torqueing the bolts to the specified rating is tough, reccomend a strong friend or heavy duty extension bar. Save at least 600 bucks by not taking it to the dealer to purchase and install. 609959

Excellent product ,not only it fix perfectly my Honda Pilot 2019, installation was a breeze ,done in about 20 minutes(and I am far from handy). First I lowered my spare tire ( no need for full removal), then I tied a rope to hitch receiver and to hardware of my open garage door , then I swung the receiver into position and screwed all 6 screws by hand (while the rope was holding the wt of receiver) ,then tied with a 22 mm, then repositioned my spare tire . 609575

All the parts and hardware was included. Thank you Diana H. you were very patient with on the phone and answered all my question and suggest all the right part. The packages came very quickly. Box with the hitch was damaged but, no damage to hitch itself. Very easy install with a buddy. The wiring harness I bought did not come with enough nits and bolts to bolt all 4 attachment points on the 7 way plug to the bracket mount. I could only do two after using g the others to fix the mount in place. Other that great product. 565835

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2019 Honda Pilot
  • For your 2019 Honda Pilot the best hitch we have is the Draw Tite part # 75225 if you plan to do any towing since this has a wiring bracket built into it. It also has a concealed crosstube too which makes it less visible too. Then for trailer wiring you'd want the T-one part # 118286 for a 7-way or part # 118760 for a 4-way. This brand of trailer wiring is our most reliable option so I recommend it highly. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2019 Honda Pilot
  • The trailer hitch I highly recommend for your 2019 Honda Pilot is the Draw-Tite # 75225 because it has a concealed crosstube and is a bolt-on installation that will not require drilling into your Honda's frame to install and is the only hitch that fits your Pilot with a dedicated spot to mount your wiring harness. This Class III, 2" trailer hitch is almost entirely hidden behind your bumper, as you can see by the accompanying photo of this hitch installed on a Pilot. This hitch has a...

  • Installation of Trailer Wiring on 2019 Honda Pilot
  • Installing the trailer wiring on your 2019 Honda Pilot is a pretty straightforward process; if you can install the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75225 on your Pilot I'm very confident you can also install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118760. To install this harness you simply need to open the tailgate and then open the access panel in the storage compartment on the driver's side and insert the connector into the tow plug harness. You will then ground the white wire by drilling a small...

  • Recommended Equipment Needed for Towing with a 2017 Honda Pilot
  • Both the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13146 that you are interested in and the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75225 are identical in weight capacities and installation as well so either one will do a great job. Since you are interested in the Curt option I recommend going ahead with that trailer hitch. You will need to note that neither of these options will fit your 2017 Honda Pilot if you have the full size spare tire. You need the mini spare for proper installation. This will work great with...

  • Hitch Recommendation for 2019 Honda Pilot that Allows Full Size Spare to Be Kept
  • As long as the wheel size of the spare is less than 18 inches in diameter the Draw Tite hitch part # 75225 will fit your 2019 Honda Pilot and will allow you to keep the spare. I attached a picture that shows the hitch installed with the spare mounted as well as an install video for more info for you to check out as well.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2017 Honda Pilot without Factory Tow Package
  • Yes, Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75225 will fit your 2017 Honda Pilot. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Honda Pilot
  • The Draw-Tite # 75225 and Curt # C13146 are the only two hitches which are available for your 2017 Honda Pilot. There is not one that integrates with the bumper, though as you can see from the accompanying photo, the only part of the hitch which is visible is the actual 2 inch receiver on either model. This is less visibility than most hitches on vehicles and our customers have been very pleased with both as you can see by the reviews. I recommend going with the Draw-Tite # 75225. If...

  • Trailer Wiring and Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Honda Pilot

  • 2018 Honda Pilot Trailer Wiring and Hitch Recommendation
  • We have just what you need to install a 7-way in your 2018 Honda Pilot. For that you'd want the part # 118286 which is a confirmed fit and would work well. This fits regardless of what type of tow package you might be missing. Then for a trailer hitch the Draw Tite part # 75225 is a confirmed fit and would also be a great option. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Trailer Hitch for a Bike Rack on a 2017 Acura MDX Hybrid
  • Yes, you can use Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75225 on your 2017 Acura MDX hybrid. The hitch will fit with a full-size spare if the spare is the 18 inch but not if the spare is the available 19 or 20 inch. If you have a 19 or 20 inch full size spare in that area (which being a hybrid I am not sure if the spare is in the same place as gas models) then the spare would have to be relocated if it interferes with the hitch installation. I don't know how many bikes you want to carry or if you...

  • 7-Way Trailer Connector Wiring Harness for a 2017 Honda Pilot EX-L
  • For trailer wiring harness # 118286 for your 2017 Honda Pilot you would not need to add any additional wiring or run any extra wires. It comes with everything needed to make the 7-Way fully functional. To attach the 7-Way to hitch # 75225 I recommend bracket # PK12711U. If you ever want to get a new brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. You will also need wiring harness # 3070-P to plug the controller into your Pilot if the...

  • Trailer Hitch Options for 2016 Honda Pilot with Full-Size Spare Tire
  • Both hitch options for your 2016 Honda Pilot AWD, Curt # C13146 and Draw-Tite # 75225, will work with an 18-inch spare but not the larger optional spare tire sizes. The spare will still need to be lowered or removed temporarily during installation to give you easier access to the hitch mounting points on the frame.

  • Which 4-Way or 7-Way Trailer Connector Do I Need for My 2016 Honda Pilot
  • To tell the difference between a 4-Way or 7-Way Connector is to look at the connector itself and see how many pins it has. I have included a picture showing both a 4 and 7-Way for you. The 4-Way is the basic connection for trailer lights. You have 4 pins, one controlling the left turn signal and left brake light, one controlling the right turn signal and right brake light, one for the running lights, and the last is a ground wire. On a 7-Way connection you have the same 4 functions...

  • Is Trailer Hitch Available for 2018 Honda Pilot With Spare Tire?
  • The hitches for your 2018 Honda Pilot, such as the Draw-Tite # 75225, will only fit if your spare tire is 18" or smaller. If so, I recommend the Draw-Tite, which has a 2" receiver and will not require any drilling to install. To add a wiring harness to power your trailer's lights you need Wiring Harness # 118760 to add a 4-way if you do not have the factory tow package on your '18 Pilot, or Wiring Harness # 118286 to add a 7-way if you do have the factory tow package. I've added links...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2017 Honda Pilot
  • Starting with the trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75225 for your 2017 Honda Pilot. This hitch is custom-fit for your vehicle and will provide a slightly better ground clearance measurement than the compatible Curt alternative. This has a 900 pound tongue weight and 6,000 pound towing weight capacity. Because the hitch will use existing holes in the vehicle frame, no drilling is required during installation. This hitch will fit with the mini and...

  • Comparing Trailer Wiring Harnesses for 2019 Honda Pilot
  • The difference between the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness # HM43134 and the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118760 is that the Tekonsha comes with the fuses to activate the tow package in your 2019 Honda Pilot while the Hopkins does not. If you take a look at the accompanying photo of the two parts you can see the included fuses; this is why I recommend going with the Tekonsha # 118760 to add a 4-way to your 2019 Honda Pilot. I have attached a link to the installation...
