Troubleshooting Furrion Artic RV Freezer with Ice Build Up
Updated 09/21/2024 | Published 03/08/2024 >
Question:
We have this same fridge in our rv for one year. Its worked great until 1 month ago, we have to defrost it every two weeks. We are in a stable spot so we cannot go to a dealership to have it checked out. As you see from the pictures the ice builds up on the back of the freezer, we take everything out and disconnect and then have to put a fan to defrost. Can you tell me please, why this is happening. I cannot get answers from lippert, keystone or anyone. Getting desperate

I'm currently dealing with uncooperative appliances at home so I definitely get how frustrating your situation is.
Defrosting the Furrion Arctic RV Refrigerator w/ Freezer # FR42PJ is the first thing to do when it comes to troubleshooting, but you shouldn't have to defrost it that often. Aside from thawing out the drain the other 2 things we've found to help with RV fridges are the following:
1. Lower temperature settings for the fridge
2. Check the ground connection and possibly run new/better ground connection
I know running a new ground connection doesn't sound right for ice building up, but in our dealings with troubleshooting RV fridges, for whatever reason this has helped that issue so I recommend at least giving it a try.

I am experiencing the same issue all of a sudden two weeks ago. We are part time campers on a seasonal site. We have a 2022 Grand Design Reflection. I haven’t defrosted the fridge yet but we will empty it and turn it off leaving the doors open this weekend. We’ll be back next Tuesday to plug it back in and see if it’s ok. Up until two weeks ago we never had an issue. Same amount of food in it and the doors are sealing fine. How do we check the ground that you are mentioning? Or running a new ground???
