The hitch fit perfect. It was damaged in shipping. One of the brackets was bent about an inch. I easily bent it back into shape and touched it up.
Incredible hitch from an awesome supplier! The hitch was not only supper easy to self install on my daughters 2000 Rav 4 but was also made very well. We used it to pull our jet ski from Ca all the way to Al during our last move a year ago. Since then we have used it several times for bike racks and a small camping storage trailer. It has held up great and still looks like it did when we first installed it. Etrailer.com had great pricing and I felt they one of the most reputable online dealers after looking into several. The hitch was shipped out quickly with great customer support. I will definitely be using them for any trailer or hitch needs in the future. I highly recommend etrailer for any of your trailer needs. Easy installation and pretty much overkill for what I use it for. I installed it on a RAV-4 so that my wife could use her scooter transport. The receiver bolted on and I was ready to go. It fit the first time and gave me no problems during installation. It's been on the vehicle for over a year now with zero issues.
Very quick, simple installation - Toyota takes the credit for this however. Gloss finish looks thick, welds look solid. I chose this over the Drawtite-Cequent class III because the safety hooks are on the bottom out of the way of the car's back door, and to save a few bucks.
...However, with the ball mount installed, the door trim still hits lightly when opening/closing unless you want to grid a little off the top upsweeping edge of the ball mount.
Installation notes:
- 17mm to remove the tow hook.
- 19mm to install the bolts provided by Curt.
- Rest the hitch on something as close to installation height as possible.
- Put in the forward-most bolts first (looking from the back of the car), it is cramped quarters on the right side in the bend of the tailpipe that makes it hard to get the bolt started.
Great quality receiver hitch! Came packaged up real nice. Dropped 4 bolts and bolted it back up. Super easy straightforward install! Trailer rental place wanted about $80 more and that wasn't including the wiring. I did have to trim plastic where door opens up but that was a breeze with a razor blade...
Big fan of the curt hitches, and etrailer does them the best! This particular one literally took me less than 10 min. To install with an impact and removing the factory tow hooks.
Installation was so easy I didn't need to put the car on the lift. I've used this to haul so many trailers. It's changed my life, its amazing!

We just installed this hitch. The service was excellent. We we're notified all along the way. Pricing was very good also. We will definitely use etrailer again.
I understand it's heavy duty and it won't get destroyed in the shipping process, but it was protruding outside of the box when delivered. There was no packing spacers in the box so it was rattled around a lot in the shipping process.
Outstanding product and customer service!!! Delivered on time as promised. Well made and easy to install!!! Fit perfectly on our 2005 Toyota Rav 4...installation took about 20 minutes 10 of which was spent looking for lock-rite. I would definitely purchase again.
This product is the easiest to install and extremely well constructed. I never have installed anything as easy as this was. I also was extremely impressed that a video was also sent to me on how to install.
Received item just a little after the noon hour and had installed (solo) and wiring harness finished before 5 pm the same day. Everything fit and works perfectly. Had been contemplating a trailer hitch for my old 1997 Toyota RAV4 for awhile but thought it would cost too much. This set up was perfect and much less than I expected or was willing to pay.

ordered the curt hitch to replace one that had rusted. new one was much better made that old one. 34 dollars less than replacing with the same brand as before (from u-haul). simple, easy installation in approx. 20 mins. arrived on time in perfect condition, delivered by ups. i will buy from etrailer again. curt makes a good hitch.
Jeff - 11/05/2019Parts arrived late by three days due to winter storms. The package was damaged and did not fit as the mounting brackets had a slight bend. I had to use a porta power to spread apart to line up the holes. The hitch looked of good quality and the finish paint looks like it will last. The wiring kit also ordered plugged right in. Nice

Within 3 hours of UPS dropping of hitch and wiring kit, everything was installed without a problem. Just as the demo movie showed. No surprises at all. Good product, great customer service, and fair price. What more could you ask for?
David T - 02/12/2015I have had no problems at all with this product. I ordered it for a reason, the price was reasonable, and installation was no problem. (my brother installed it for me). And it's performed exactly how I expected! I tow my jet ski with it on my little Rav 4 and it does the job perfectly! I would definitely recommend Curt Trailer Hitches!!
The trailer hitch works great and all of the parts from etrailer worked perfectly. I suggest spraying down the bolts currently holding your tow hooks onto the frame with WD-40 or another product to get rid of rust and corrosion on the bolts to make getting them off easier.
Also, using a torque wrench with a long arm is not recommended on the exhaust side of the trailer since it is hard to reach and tighten the bolts. With more tools or an extension to attach the socket to torque wrench youll have a very easy install.
I received the Curt hitch very promptly and it seemed very well made. Welds were perfect and the powder coat finish was flawless. I had a chance to install it yesterday, and it was easier than I anticipated. It bolted right up the tie down points and fit perfectly. I did a lot of price comparisons around the web, and etrailer was the best. I was also pleased that they had the plug and play wiring harness to complete the installation.
Package arrived on the expected day. Easy to install, except I wish I had a 3rd hand to help hold the hitch in place while initially putting the bolts in place. Took all of 30 minutes, nearly half of that making sure i knew how to properly use the torque wrench. If I remember correctly, this is the 2nd time I've used etrailer.com without a hitch...I mean without a problem. I would not hesitate to purchase another trailer hitch from them again, or recommend them to a friend.
