Features to know about

Add Real Utility to Your Ride: Class II 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver

This Curt hitch opens up options for towing small trailers, campers, or boats up to 3,500 lbs GTW with a 350 lbs tongue weight rating. The 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver is great for bike racks or cargo carriers when you need more space for your gear. It’s a simple way to add day-to-day hauling capability without going overboard on size or weight.

Install It Yourself Without Welding: Bolt-On Mounting with Included Hardware

You don’t need a shop or a lift to get this hitch installed. The bolt-on design uses vehicle-specific mounting points for a custom fit and doesn’t require any welding. Everything you need — the complete hardware kit and installation instructions — comes in the box. It’s designed so you can handle the job in your driveway with basic tools and some patience.

Built to Last Through Weather and Road Grime: Fully Welded Steel with Dual-Coat Protection

The hitch is fully welded for strength and finished with a gloss black powder coat over a protective base coat. That dual-layer finish guards against rust, chips, and road debris while keeping a clean look under the bumper. The round-tube design gives it a simple, tidy style that blends in without sticking out.

Ready for Everyday Towing: Durable Design Backed by Lifetime Support

The precision robotic welding keeps everything aligned and consistent for long-term reliability. It’s engineered as a Class II hitch, so it’s right at home hauling lightweight trailers or carrying bike racks and cargo platforms. A limited lifetime warranty backs it up, giving you confidence that it’s built to handle years of use.

This receiver needs to be manufacturer modified. The welding of the vertical bracket to the mount on the passenger side is too close to the forward bolt hole and the nut does not fit. Either the hole or the side bracket should have been moved slightly to allow alignment of the bolt to the nut. The fix suggested by the manufacturer is to state "Note: The washer/nut may require trimming of the washer for reinstallation." They obviously know of this defect and decided to just keep it and force all customers to work out the fault for themselves.

Overall, I am satisfied with my hitch receiver and I expect to get many years use of it.

Hitch arrived on date predicted by shipping information. Although one corner was protruding from box, there was no damage as the hitch is made of thick metal, powder coated and is tough. I immediately placed my 2019 Ford Edge on jack stands and followed the instructions. Using just hand tools (no fancy battery powered ratchet driver like in the video) the hitch was installed in just under an hour. Wife secured bicycle rack into hitch, put her bicycle on hitch and went riding.

Fast shipping and high quality products. The installation was made simple with the online instructional video. I will buy from etrailer in the future.

This is a beautiful hitch. I bought it to replace a different hitch on my car that hung down too low. This hitch is higher than my muffler so my clearance is excellent. It took me three hours to remove the old hitch and install the new one by myself. Five gallon buckets work excellently to hold up my muffler and to rest the new hitch on while installing.

Wonderful customer service. Lori B. answered all of my questions and addressed concerns I had. Received my order in 2 days! Had the hitch installed in less than an hour. Now I won’t have any trouble hauling my mower. Excellent quality and looks great! Would definitely recommend this company to anyone!

Just finished the install of the Curt 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver on my 2016 Ford Edge. Overall install went very well but I'm convinced that the only reason was because of the excellent install video available through your website. I'd still be trying to figure out what to do if all I had was the install instructions that came with the hitch, they are terrible. Also glad you included the (4) fish wires instead of just the (2) shown in the video. Was able to install it by myself with the help of an extra short piece of rope to hold the hitch in place while installing the hardware.

Great product at a great price. This is my forth hitch I bought from etrailer, always great service and fast delivery. Install directions are clear, straightforward, and detailed. Installation went as planned, took about 1 hour.

Easy to install, but the instructions were a little vague about trimming the rear bumper bezel. I have to remove it to make everything get together. Also, I would highly recommend that you discuss that the bolts/metal bar pieces being fed into the end of the frame - the best access point behind the bumper cover. I discovered that by some of the drawings, but it wasn't a confident way. it can be done that way. The hitch installed very easily, but the trimming of the bumper bezel (lower bumper) and the two side pieces took a little time. Yep, I would order it again. It took about 3 1/2 hours to install because I was cautious.

Product was delivered as promised and is a quality product. The installation was more than I wanted to do so my local mechanic installed in a couple of hours.

hitch for the Ford Edge fit just fine. was a little tricky installing.
biggest surprise was the magic door that wanted to open and close ever time we tried to get a nut started on the hidden attach bolts.
Good product but requires patience to install.

well made, install wasn't as easy as advertised, for 2015 Ford Edge Sel, steps were left out about accessing the rear frame openings, the entire rear fascia, would need to be removed to do so, I cut the side holes larger to install the hardware, it fit well and happy w/ the overall finished product.

  • Does Wiring Come With Trailer Hitch for 2024 Ford Edge
Hey Rich! Wiring is not included with any of the hitches for your 2024 Ford Edge. Are you specifically looking for a Class II hitch like the Curt # C12140? Unless you have a real need for the 1-1/4" receiver I recommend a Class III like the etrailer # e36RR instead. The 2" receiver gives you a lot more options for use, and a reducer can be used if necessary. This also has a concealed cross tube for a nice clean look and better clearance. The correct wiring depends on the Ford Edge model...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver, Ball Mount, And Wiring For A 2015 Ford Edge Sport
The 1-1/4 inch hitch receivers have a lower tongue weight strength and lower towing capacity. If you want the less obstructed view and are only going to be using it for a singular small boat application, I recommend going with the smaller hitch. If you think that you could use it for other applications, I then recommend going with the 2 inch hitch receiver. If you choose to go with the 1-1/4 inch Curt Class II Round Tube Hitch # C12140 for your 2015 Ford Edge Sport, it is a confirmed...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Ford Edge Sport
For your 2016 Ford Edge Sport I recommend the 2-inch Class III hitch option over the 1-1/4-inch Class II since it will give you a better safety margin for handling the weight of your chosen bike rack and bikes. For that you would want the part # 75234. Plus a 2-inch hitch will be able to work with more accessory items, such as a cargo carrier like # C18151, in case that is ever in your future plans. Considering the small price difference, a Class III hitch like # 75234 is usually the...

  • Best Hitch Size for 2018 Ford Edge
Any time a vehicle has both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches available for it we tend to recommend the larger 2-inch size. There are several good reasons. Typically there is not much increase in cost, but there is usually a substantial increase in weight capacity. For example, the 1-1/4-inch hitches like Curt # C12140 usually have a tongue weight (TW) rating of no more than 350-lbs, but the 2-inch Class III hitches like Draw-Tite # 75234 and Curt # C13234 have TW ratings that are roughly...

Yes, we have three trailer hitch receiver options for your 2017 Ford Edge with the Sport package part # 75234, part # C13234, and part # C12140. I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13234 as this hitch will not require near as much effort to install in comparison to the similar Draw-Tite hitch receiver. It is a Class III hitch receiver with a 2" opening. This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your Ford Edge's frame with no welding required. Depending on...

  • Best Roof Rack for a 2018 Ford Edge
Thanks for the additional information! I have a solution for you but the Kodiak K3 crossbars you have are obsolete and incompatible with current roof rack systems. I did some looking online and I wasn't able to find any replacement parts or information about whether or not the company had been bought out. It sounds like you are trying to decide between the Curt Class II Round Receiver hitch part # C12140 and the Class III Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13234. I recommend the Curt Class III 2" C13234 receiver because it is more versatile in the long run. There a lot more accessory options like bike racks and cargo carriers that fit a 2" receiver. If you decide to tow a small trailer in the future the 2" is a better option as well. If you need a bike rack, I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0...

  • Best Hitch for 2017 Ford Edge SEL for Ground Clearance
I have a solution for you, but the class of the hitch does not necessarily effect the clearance and has more to do with the weight range of the trailer it can tow. If clearance is the main concern, I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13234 since it provides the best clearance with 13" from the top of the receiver to the ground. I do have a solution for you, however the Curt Class II Trailer Hitch # C12036 referenced in your question is not confirmed to fit your 2017 Ford Edge Titanium Model. For a Class II hitch that will fit your Ford Edge Titanium, I instead recommend the Curt Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C12140. • Ball Mount For 2022 Ford Edge SE With Curt Hitch
Hey Louis, thanks for that measurement! The Curt Trailer Hitch # C12140 measures 13" from the ground to the inside top of the receiver. Since your coupler is sitting at 17", you need a ball mount with a 4" rise to be level. This makes the etrailer Ball Mount # e47DR is the best option. This ball mount has a 3-7/8" rise so it sits right where you need it, and comes pre-torqued so you don't have to worry about hitch ball installation. This also has a 350/3,500 lb tongue/towing capacity...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Ford Edge SE To Carry Bike Rack
The best choice for a trailer hitch for carrying a bike rack with your 2018 Ford Edge SE is the Draw Tite part # 75234 as it has the 2 inch hitch size you want, has plenty of weight capacity, and also is only option with a concealed crosstube which makes it less visible and helps with ground clearance. The # C13234 is a stronger hitch receiver with more options for accessories and ball mounts. I've attached an installation video of this hitch for you.
