WILL THIS DISABLE THE HANDS FREE FEATURE FOR THE AUTO REAR HATCH?

You will still be able to activate the rear liftgate of your Ford Edge with the Curt hitch part # C12140 installed. If you check out the install video I attached you can see that our installer was able to still activate the liftgate with this foot. Fast forward to the 1:10 mark to see it.
You'll notice he kicked just to the right of the hitch opening.
