I am sorry that your hitch has arrived as such. I have sent this information over to our customer service department for them to get in contact with you. They should be reaching out to you within the next 24-48 hours. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for hitches to receive scratches during shipment. We recommend that you use a rust-oleum type paint to cover any scratchesscrapesscuffs. This will help prevent any future corrosion or rust.

Im sorry to see that your hitch has received some scratches on it due to shipping. This does tend to happen and when it does, we recommend using a Rust-oleum type paint to cover up any scratches and prevent corrosion in the future during use. I have a link below for your reference. It sounds like that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which is why the bolt holes are not lining up. This can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a great FAQ that provides ways to move the brackets back into alignment so the hitch can be installed.
