When you need to load or unload your bed fast, the Switchblade’s retractable system makes it easy. The pinch grips under the rear plate activate a heavy-duty tension spring that automatically retracts the cover into its canister. It opens smoothly and stays clear of the rear window for full visibility. To close it, just use the built-in pull strap or the rear plate to glide the cover back into place and lock it at the tailgate.
Sometimes you need every inch of your bed for hauling large items. The Switchblade can be completely removed or reinstalled by one person in about 10 minutes using only a wrench and screwdriver. Detach the canister and side rails, then lift the canister out using the pull strap. Once the job’s done, reinstall it just as quickly for weather protection and security again.
This cover combines the best of both worlds. The deck is built from heavy-duty aluminum slats bonded to a black vinyl top layer, giving it a soft-cover look with hard-cover strength. The ArmorTek construction resists dents and damage while keeping water and debris out. Foam seals under the rails and a large rear seal help close gaps around the tailgate, keeping your cargo protected from the elements.
The canister sits up front with a compact, angled design that protects the retracted cover without taking up bed space. The black powder-coated rails sit just 1/8" above the bed for a sleek, flush appearance that blends with the truck’s lines. This low-profile setup also cuts wind drag and can help improve gas mileage when the cover is closed.
With the Switchblade closed and the tailgate locked, your gear stays protected. The aluminum panels can’t be pried up along the rails, and both the pinch grips and pull strap are positioned under the rear plate so they can’t be reached when locked. That gives you confidence your tools, camping gear, or groceries are safe from weather and theft alike.

Update: Purchased in July 2025, it is now September 8th 2025, so basically 2 months since installed. The cover will not retract all the way. Called the manufacturer for warranty. I basically have to remove the cover and inspect the spring assembly. They will then send out a new spring assembly that I will need to install myself. This will require a fair amount of my time, which I am not happy about. This unit should not fail in two months, especially with very limited use. I would have preferred them to send a new cartridge that I could put in the truck for ease of repair. They dont care about the customer experience, apparently. Do better Pace Edwards!

A year later and the cover is still working great. I do have to say that it leaks like a sieve at the tailgate, but that’s the only issue. It’s hard coming from a tri-fold that completely covers the bed and kept water out, but the benefits still outweigh this one con. It’s holding up great and still slides flawlessly. I probably don’t lubricate it quite as much as I should, but the few times I’ve done it has helped it slide like new again.
