V-Bar Icebreakers
The V-shaped studs (also known as icebreakers, spikes, or cleats) that are built into these twist-link tire chains bite into ice, providing superior grip for a safer ride on ice-covered roads.
Installation
1. Drape the chain over both tires of your dual-tire setup, making sure that the center chain is between the tires and that the V-bars are facing out. (You can also lay the chain out and then drive onto it.)
2. Drive forward about 1/4 of a tire revolution.
3. Fasten the ends of the chain together.
4. Drive forward a bit and tighten the chain as needed by moving the hook to the next link.
You can use rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately) to increase the tension on the chains for a tighter fit.
How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle
To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Titan Chain dual rear wheel series of snow tire chains. These tires offer a maximum speed rating of 30 miles per hour. With a low carbon steel construction, it's very strong and durable. These are the ladder pattern, as you can see, and the V bar links. This is going to cover both the driver's side and the passenger side of the vehicle for you, so you'll have everything you need to do one axle. These V bar style snow tire chains essentially is the twisted link snow tire chain that's had a V bar welded right onto it. The twisted links already gave great deep snow traction and stuff, but as you can imagine, deep snow, light snow, ice, anything that you're really going to encounter, these chains will really work great for it.
They're going to give us great power when we're stopping, when we're trying to accelerate, especially with the ladder style. As you can see, they're kind of offset, so that's going to give us from just a standard snow tire chain, about twice as much grip. Now on each outside chain, we're going to have a cam style or a lever style closure. We place our chain in here. We'll bring our lever around and then we slide the keeper right up and on to keep our chain secure. As you can see here on the inside chain, we've got the same situation and then in our center, we've got a simple hook style that will hook right into out chain link.
Now that we've gone over all of the features of these chains, we'll show you how to get them installed onto your vehicle. What we're going to do is place our chains on the ground, with the hook side up. We have a smooth side here on the back and the hooks are exposed here on the front. We want these to be facing away from our sidewall, so that smooth side will be riding right up against our tire. We've got them all stretched out here. You want to make sure you don't have any kinks, or any twists, or any tangles to deal with and then we'll grab at two points, about arm distance apart there and we're going to bring them right up and over our wheels. We'll position them so that the middle chain, as you can see, is running right down between both of our wheels there and we'll lay these out so that our middle hook is centered between our tires, our front hook's in front and our rear hook is on the back side.
We'll now just get out as much slack as we can, bring it around to the rear side and now it's going to be time to roll forward slightly about a quarter to a half revolution in our wheel, so that our cams will be here in the rear, where we can make our connections happen. We'll now bring our inner lever up. We'll connect it on the closest link that we can or the shortest link we can. We've got one, two, three, four, five to choose from. I'm going to try the third one here. Doesn't look like it's going to hit the third one, so let's go to the second, get it through, close our lever and then we slide our keeper right up on it there to hold it in place for us.
Now on our rear connection, we used the fourth link, so on the middle and the front, we'll have to use either the third, fourth or fifth. We get a plus or minus of one there. All right, with that connection made, we'll come around here to the front and the same thing will apply here. We're either going to use the third, the fourth or the fifth. It looks like we may be able to use the fourth one there. It's a little tight, so we'll go to the fifth one, bring that in, cam that down. As you can see, that's going to take that slack out and slide the keeper up to hold it in place. Here we've got our rubber tensioner. It's going to have five hooks on it. Try to place these hooks evenly all the way around the outside of our chain, and just like with the chain, we want the hooks facing outward. The hook's there, we'll have them facing away from our sidewall, rather than into it. I'm just going to pull that up, connect into our five points and just like that, we're ready to move forward just a little bit, recheck our chains, make sure we don't have any tension issues, adjust as necessary and we'll be able to hit the road. Now periodically, you will want to check your chains just to make sure nothing's changed and you still have the proper tension. That will complete today's demonstration. .

Perfect fit. Good installation instruct ions.
I loaded my 2WD Chevy 3500 dump with a ton of stone. I put the chains on my duals as in eTrailer's video spreading the chain out with V-cleats up, gathering the three lengths across the palms of my hands, and laying it over the tires. Worked like a charm. Put on the rubber bunji ring, hitched to my 14 ton trailer, and pulled it up an 8% incline in snow and mud without slipping. Totally worth it. My truck is worthless without chains in this weather.
Have ordered twice already some snow chains for my truck and I can say that its the best customer service. Thanks
I purchased these tire chains as an “insurance policy” for bad weather. I’ve not had to use them yet. They look well made and are quality steel. The price was decent and the customer service was excellent.
Excellent product, well made and a good fit. etrailers web site is very easy to navigate and find the right part for what my application was. the carton was well packaged and shipping was very fast, Although I did order the wrong set of chains the first time due to my error I was able to return them and get a full refund and then reorder the correct chains, but a lesson well learned to pay attention to detail. I have not used the chains yet but I did do a test fit and they are a nice snug fit. I would surely recommend etrailer for your needs.
Super easy to work with!
Product looks great but since I ordered the Snow Chains in August I have not yet had an opportunity(?) to use them. Greg at E-Trailer was very helpful and the Video for Installation was excellent. I have bought many items from e-trailer and have continued to be impressed with service and delivery as well as with the products.
The chains very nice i hop i never half to use them.
I haven't tried out the chains yet but the customer service was fantastic. They let me know that there was a problem getting one item on my order and were able to send the rest of my order, which arrived in just a couple of days.
These Chains look sick! Haven't got to use them yet but when the time comes I think that V-Bar link is going to make it feel like i'm driving on dry pavement. No slipping or sliding.
The person that helped me had good knowledge of the product and was very helpful

These chains fit well and are working great on our Kubota X1120D that we plow snow with. We plow on a 12% grade that gets icy so chains are necessary. The drive is sand and gravel so aggressive chains are fine. Our snow is usually wet and heavy. I would buy these again. etrailer was very helpful with this purchase as it seems this type of chains are hard to come by so the worked to find a supplier that could provide.

Excellent chains. Used them extensively this last November getting up and down a snowed over road and snow/iced over rocky trail up the mountain in CO. They didn’t break on the rocks and got great traction on ice, got me out of several miles of 3ft of snow with ice underneath. I highly recommend the steel spring chain tensions. When properly installed you can get these chains nice and tight. I can only run chains on my rear tires due to upper control arm clearance issues (‘08 Tacoma) so I’m giving my second pair to my brother (‘12 f150) for his rear tires.

Tires chains: why did i wait so long? etrailer.com was easy to deal with as usual. My only complaint is that i had to go to another vendor to buy plastic ramps to ease installation. My neighbor has a pair and they are perfect. I own a second home on a hill in the snow belt of Pennsylvania. After years of plowing, melting snow and ice, sliding off the driveway more times that i can count i stopped plowing the hill and put chains on the four wheel drive parked at the bottom of the driveway. The snow piles up and and truck goes up and down like it is on a dry road. I didn't use the low range once all winter. After a couple of tries the chains are a breeze to mount. No good for dry roads but magic on snow and ice. Worth twice the price.

I bought these chains based on etrailer videos and [online] videos of others using the Titan Vbar chains. I can tell you that these chains are super aggressive. They got me through 8” or more of semi melted and tracked up snow. I did struggle with traction on the front end, but didn’t have chains on the front wheels. In my Tacoma, I would say I was pushing the limit with snow depth. Pucker factor was pretty high as culverts we’re waiting for my mistakes. Type and condition of snow means everything. These chains are tiptop. What isn’t tiptop is the website vehicle search. I provide my year, make and model and they said the chains would work. They do not fit my tires. They are too big. That being said, I still made them work. They were super tight. Due yourself the favor and double check your tire size. You will be hard pressed to find a more aggressive chain. Love them!

I am impressed with the Titan Snow Tire Chains I purchased recently. They appear to be well made and sturdy. They fit my tires and were easy to install. The V-Bar links allow me to drive into the woods with the confidence that I will be able to return home safely.

I bought a full set of 4 of these chains last year for my Duramax in case I needed them when we go snowmobiling up in the mountains. As luck would have it, I got badly stuck (with snowmobile trailer in tow no less!) in some pretty deep snow because the plows couldnt keep up with the snowfall we were having at the time. I ended up jacking each wheel up, installing the chains underneath of each wheel and the truck literally drove right out of the predicament like nothing. It was such a huge relief to have the chains with us...the tow bill alone would have far exceeded what I paid for the chains, so basically they've already paid for themselves! Very high quality, well packaged and they fit right.

Product appears to be very good I haven't had to chain up my pick up yet but they test fitted well with the heavy duty rubber chain adjusters - bought more for chain laws in Colo and to pull LQ horse Trailer out of a bad spot

These titan snow chains with the v bars are perfect for any cold weather conditions. I’ve used them on my 2000 Nissan Frontier in deep snow and on dirt mountain roads with steep inclines that were covered with about an inch of ice below 5-6inches of snow. 2 pairs of chains would work better for those types of extreme conditions but 1 pair got me where I needed to be! I’ll be ordering an extra set for sure!

etrailer reminds me 1 year later to review. It just shows how much they believe in their products and their service. These are great chains. I bought them because I have used this style before and love how easy they are to put on without climbing under the truck. Last year was a dry winter and I never used them so I cant say anything about these specific chains except they are easy to put on. I practice every winter to make sure I have everything needed. I also bought the tightener, that thing that looks like a big spider, to go with these chains. The two work well together. The chains come in a bag. I dont think it will hold up. My tires are big and these chains are heavy. I will probably get a plastic box to hold the chains since this is expected to be a wet winter and I will be in the mountains more this year.

This is a good product. My only issue is that I have a 2019 ranger. On the front wheels, there is not enough clearance for these (or possibly even cables) chains. They have a suspension bar that is about 1/4 in from the tires. So these chains will bind into that space the moment you move. They work well on the rear.

Wasn’t sure if these v-bar chains would fit Yaris IA. App said not a “fit” but my winter tires are on 15” rims (stock = 16”). Couldn’t get aggressive winter tires for 16” in 2018. Had steel rims from a previous 2012 Yaris. Matched up the circumstances & success. These chains fit the 15” rims & tires just fine. Not a lot of room to spare. Put them thru a test run B-4 an actual “need” situation. Really like the Star Design tensioners.

Great quality chains at a great price! I had to get another set of chains for larger tires, this price was comparable to the price I paid for the 17" tires. I have gone through a foot of snow and over thickly covered icy mountain roads with no slipping. I highly recommend the "V" chains for any icy conditions. I'm good to go, just waiting for the snow!
