Installs inside vehicle's OEM handle to provide security for valuables.i ordered this product to go along with my extang solid fold on my 05 ram 3500. the installation video was very informative! i watched it two or three times while waiting for this to be delivered, and by time it arrived i barely needed the instructions. the main wire that goes from back to front of the truck was barely long enough following the trucks oem harness. i also didnt use the battery tirminals for power, i think that looks cluttered. i used the positive battery post in the power distribution box, and a main ground on the frame right next to it. very clean looking. i feel much better leaving my golf clubs in back during the summer, and transporting hunting equipment and firearms legally through the fall and winter. thanks!
The lock was added for security reasons and was a great addition. The lock was wired to an optional output on our Compu Start alarm so that it is independent of the door lock function. When the alarm is set the tailgate along with the doors automatically lock and are monitored by the alarm, a tilt sensor was installed inside the tailgate for tailgate position.

Great product, no problems.
Product was easy to install following the provided instructions. Connections to wiring harness were correct with the right color coding to tap into. The only problem I had with the power tailgate lock was that after several months, the gate would not unlock when using the key fob. After investigation, I found that the latch on the solenoid required small amount of greasing to prevent from hanging up and since then I have not had any problems.
Exactly as advertised. This tailgate lock works well in my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500.
Note: I wish this company or another would make a power lock + backup camera in a tailgate handle, so both the lock and the camera would be in 1 unit.
I installed on 2004 dodge ram 2500, quad cab, turbo Cummins, 4x4. I tried running "long cable" to the engine compartment, but, there was not enough length. after a bit of looking, I ran into the cab at the grommet for the e-brake. this left me plenty of length. 2004 uses grey with light green stripe wire and light green wire. EASY INSTALL!!

I purchased this product to lock my Silverado tail gate and protect contents and my Xtang bed cover. The Pop and Lock device was a little difficult to install for my application, however etrailer's video instructions were excellent! Developed a minor problem with the Pop and Lock, and customer service was outstanding. I highly recommend purchasing your truck and trailering needs from Etrailer! Works as it should.
I installed this power unit on my tailgate yesterday and so far it works great. Installation was pretty simple and the instructions were very accurately detailed. I like the idea of not having to keep up with another key for my tailgate. Just lock the doors and that's it.
After ordering, I was informed the pop lock may take a month to receive, got it in about two weeks....installation was easier than expected, actually came with directions! Works great! I would highly recommend!
First one lasted about 5 years, I hope this nasty at least that long

I appreciate you following up with me. I traded in the truck to which this product was installed about three weeks ago. Im sad to say that about two months ago after being parked in my garage overnight I went out to open my tail gate to find that it would not unlock. When this happened, I noticed a strong smell that is only describable as the electrical smell coming from the rear of my truck. I had to force open my Extang Solidfold tonneau to get into my bed to disassemble the tailgate. When I did so, I found the lockunlock solenoid of the tailgate lock assembly to be melted and physically distorted from what I assume was an overheating issue. I manually forced it open to unlock the tailgate and traded the truck in with it not functioning properly.Prior to this incident I was very pleased with the product. Installation was easy and it worked very well to secure my belongings in the bed of my truck. The longevity of the product is very disappointing though. I would expect a product like this one to be good for the lift of the vehicle. Im thankful that I was at home and not at a store or a customers when this happened or it could have been potentially embarrassing.To clarify, at this time I do not have intention of purchasing one for my 2016 Chevrolet Colorado I just purchased, nor would I recommend this to a friend.
