Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look at this Roadmaster Guardian Second Vehicle Kit. Now, this kit includes all of the necessary hardware that you are going to need to connect your Guardian Rock Guard to another vehicle, making a switch between vehicles very easy. So this kit can be used as replacement hardware if you had some hardware that got damaged or misplaced. Or, like I mentioned at the beginning of our time together, this can be used as a second vehicle kit if you want to just have the capability to move your rock guard to another vehicle, while keeping the original hardware on the original vehicle.

So this kit includes everything that you see here. You're going to receive these two mounting brackets, these two thumb screws that I have loosely screwed into these brackets, and then the four bolts for installation. And also a set of instructions to walk you through that installation process. Now, this is directly from Roadmaster, so you're not gonna have to worry about compatibility issues, fitment issues, or anything like that. This is going to be exactly like the original hardware that you have.

These will work to mount my 25 year old Roadmaster Guardian shield to our new Bronco mounted Blue Ox base plates.

Fits well, very easy to install.

I mounted the two brackets with Stainless Steel self taping hardware on the back bumper of my motorhome. The measurements were made and one bracket was installed with the thumb screw removed from the brackets. The second bracket was placed on the Guardian Stone Shield and the Shield dropped into the first bracket. Alignment was easy and mounting holes were marked on the bumper for the second bracket. The second bracket was removed from the Shield and the second bracket was mounted with one self taping bolt. The Shield was installed and aligned and the second self tapping bold was installed. The two Master Locks were placed in the holes of the Stone Shield to prevent theft when the Motorhome is in storage or parked at a site. The brackets took 20 minute to install. Now when we disconnect the tow vehicle from the Motorhome, the Stone Shield and tow brackets are immediately stored and ready for the next travel. The Stone Shield did not compromise visibility to the tail lights or impact our Falcon 2 tow bar storage.

Works as expected, no problems

I try to do all of my rv shopping with etrailer and I am usually quite satisfied. I was disappointed when I ordered my cross bar assembly and quoted 6-8 weeks delivery and then received it from [online] in 2 days out of a fairly good stock of them. I know stock may be difficult now but supply lines for current equipment need to be maintained.

Product is as advertised. However, you might share with Roadmaster that since this is designed as a “second” setup for the shield, not providing the nuts and washers is a “fail” in the packaging. I could see in advance in the photos no nuts were to be included so I went and purchased what I needed.
Also, from your side with shipping, having the package get close via UPS was nice, but having them hand it off to USPS was lame and caused another delay in delivery. Beyond that, etrailer has always treated us well and provided the products we need at a fair price and when a helpful video is necessary your team is awesome.

Just what I needed to hold the Roadmaster rock guard for a second vehicle. Just like the originals. Even came with longer the bolts needed for the installation.

they work great. I changed to a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and had the dealer switch over. Still work perfectly. Using them again in Oct.

    Thanks for letting us help, Otto. For Roadmaster Direct-Connect style base plates like # RM97NQ, the correct Roadmaster Guardian is the Roadmaster Guardian XL Rock Shield # RM82DQ. The original Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard # RM-4000 is designed for crossbar-style base plates and will not work with a Direct-Connect setup.   • Is an Adapter Available for a Stowmaster 5000 Tow Bar to Blue Ox Base Plate on a 1997 Jeep Wrangler
    Unfortunately, there is not an adapter available that will allow you to use the Stowmaster 5000 tow bar with a set of Blue Ox base plates. This means that you also would not be able to use the Roadmaster Guardian 2nd Vehicle Kit, # RM-4000-1, that you referenced. You have two options. First, if you want stay with your Stowmaster tow bar you could go with a set of Roadmaster base plates on your 1997 Jeep Wrangler. You would need part # RM-521424-4 if your Jeep has a double tube bumper....

    You can install the Second Vehicle Kit # RM-4000-1 in two different ways. I attached a picture that shows how either way it can be set up. Option A will put the Guardian closer to the vehicle and Option B will push it further away. So to answer your question directly yes, as long as the holes line up the # RM-4000-1 will install and work fine.

    As long as the StowMaster 5000 tow bar that you have has Quick Disconnects, Item # RM-201, then the Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard, item # RM-4000 will work with your towbar. If you do not have the # RM-201 quick disconnects you will need them to adapt the Guardian Rock Guard to your tow bar setup. The Roadmaster Guardian 2nd Vehicle Kit, item # RM-4000-1, is designed to attach the guardian to a second vehicle with quick disconnects.

    I can definitely say the Guardian Shield Mounting Bracket # RM-2000-8 will fit the # RM-4000 Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard. However, to mate this to a trailer or tow dolly that is not a Roadmaster, you will need to double check and make sure your Kendon trailer has a tongue/frame tube with a width of 3-1/4 inches or less. If your trailer follows this guideline, you are good to go. If you do not have a tongue/frame tube that is this size, you will most likely need the Roadmaster Guardian...

    Most likely by Roadmaster 5000 tow bar you are referring to the Tracker part # RM-020. Which if so there currently isn't an adapter available that will allow it to connect to Blue Ox tow bars.
