Features to know about

Built for Long Miles and Heavy Loads: 18-Ply Radial Tire with 6,005-lb Capacity

This tire-and-wheel assembly is ready for serious towing duty. The Provider 235/75R17.5 radial tire carries a heavy 6,005-lb maximum load at 127 psi and is rated Load Range J (18-ply). A speed rating of M allows up to 81 mph, so it’s made for highway travel. Double steel belts, double polyester cords, and nylon tread-firming overlays help reduce heat buildup and tread separation for long life on the road.

Smooth Rolling Right Out of the Box: Match Mounted and Balanced Assembly

You don’t have to waste time chasing vibrations or paying for a balance job. Each Provider tire-and-wheel combo is match mounted and balanced by Taskmaster using laser-guided equipment. The lightest point of the tire is aligned with the heaviest part of the wheel, then precisely weighted at high speed. The result is a smooth, stable ride that reduces wear on your running gear the moment you bolt it up.

Tough Against Rust and Road Grime: 3-Step Silver Powder Coat Finish

The solid-center steel wheel isn’t just strong—it’s built to stay that way. A zinc phosphate bath preps the surface for an e-coat acrylic primer, then a baked-on DuPont silver powder coat seals it all in on both sides of the wheel. This three-step process provides corrosion resistance that stands up to moisture, salt, and years of use without losing its clean look.

Built for Dependable Fit and Strength: Hub-Piloted 17-1/2" x 6-3/4" Wheel

Every dimension here is made for precise fit and load handling. The hub-piloted steel wheel centers on the hub for true alignment and requires flange nuts (sold separately) for installation. It features an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern,?–0.31" offset, 4.76" pilot diameter, and a wheel capacity of 6,005 lbs. Those details add up to confidence that your setup will stay tight and track straight mile after mile.

Ready for Real Highway Use: DOT Certified Performance

This assembly meets DOT specifications and exceeds FMVSS standards for trailer wheels and tires. With a 17/32" tread depth, regroovable design, and bake-tested rubber compound that holds over time, the Provider radial gives you a dependable combination of safety, performance, and durability trip after trip.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Video Transcript for Review of Taskmaster Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - TA96QR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this Taskmaster provider, 235/75 R17.5 radial tire in a load range J, and it's mounted on this 17 and a half inch silver solid center steel wheel that has an offset and an eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for heavy duty trailers. Now in this assembly, the tire is match mounted and balanced to the wheel for ride comfort and durability. The wheel itself is a heavy duty steel wheel. It's a solid center design.

It's sturdy and corrosion resistant. And the wheel goes through a three-step finishing process, which will include a zinc phosphate bath. Then they put an E-coat primer and then a silver power coat on the front and even on the back of the wheel. Now this wheel is a hub-piloted wheel, which means it's designed to center on the hub. So it will require a close fit of the center pilot hole to your hub.

The pilot hole diameter on this is 4.76 inches. Also, on hub-piloted wheels, because their lug holes are not beveled, they do require the use of flange nuts for installation. Those we do sell separately. They use a flange nut size of 5/8th inch by 18. And we mentioned this wheel does have an offset.

It does have an offset of eight millimeters. And a negative offset is when this hub mounting surface right here is in the back of the wheel center line. So when this mounting surface goes towards the back, that's gonna be a negative offset. This one has a negative eight millimeters. And of course the negative offset is gonna move the tire away from the trailer.

A few dimensions on the wheel itself, the diameter, 17 and a half inches. The width on just the wheels, six and three quarter inches wide. We mentioned the bolt pattern of an eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 6,005 pounds. Now the tire that's mounted on the wheel, it is a radial tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords for a nice long life. It's great for highway use. They do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation. And this tire is bake tested to ensure that the rubber holds up over time. It is created specifically for heavy duty trailers. It's not intended for use on other vehicles. The assembly does meet the DOT specifications and will exceed federal motor vehicle safety standards. Now the tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall of the tire, just wanted to show you right here. You can see it's 235/75 R17.5. The R stands for radial tire. The section width, it's gonna be 9.2 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top where it's inflated is 31.4 inches. And we mentioned the tire capacity on this is a load range J, which means it's an 18-ply radial tire. So it does have a maximum load capacity of 6,005 pounds when it's inflated up to 127 PSI. And the last thing I do wanna mention, these tires do come with a speed rating now, and they stamp that on the sidewall with a letter designation. And where you can find out where that is right after the tire size. You'll see a section that'll show two numbers for the load index and then the letter M. Speed rating M on this tire will mean that it has an 81 mile per hour speed rating. And as we mentioned, this tire is mounted and balanced. You can see the weights that they use right up here and then over here, right down here. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Taskmaster Provider 235/75 R17.5 radial tire in a load range J, mounted on the 17 and a half inch silver solid center steel wheel.
