This breakaway switch sounds an alarm when the pin is pulled, so you know it's working. Wire it into your trailer's brake system so if your trailer becomes uncoupled it will activate the trailer brakes, giving you time to move to safety.

Hi, everyone, Steve here with the etrailer.com. Today we're looking together at our ESCO alarmed breakaway switch. Now breakaway switch wires into your trailer's brake system, providing peace of mind. If your trailer we inchesre to come uncoupled, the cord attached to the tow vehicle would pull this pin out of the mechanism here, which would then allow the electric brakes to activate, potentially slowing that vehicle down in a safe way. Now as you can see, you can push this pin in and pull it out. That is perfectly normal.
In this particular unit, it is wired and it also has an audible alarm and a little LED down here. That would light up if this is removed and that would show you that this is working. And then it would also apply electric to the brakes to apply the brakes as well. You would install this with a self-tapping screws and those are sold separately. If you don't have any locally, you'd probably get 'em at a hardware store or something of that nature.
And again, it gets wired up. Overall, dimension wise, I got from this end all the way over here to the edge, 4 5/16 inches long, 1 5/8 inches wide and one inch tall. Well, folks, that is gonna wrap it up for our quick look together. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
