This 2-1/2" round light uses a premium incandescent bulb that delivers up to 15,000 hours of service life. The red lens throws a steady, easy-to-see glow that helps keep your trailer visible and compliant with lighting requirements. It runs on 12V DC systems, so wiring stays straightforward without the need for special adapters or converters.
Mounting is clean and straightforward thanks to the recessed design. It installs with a grommet (sold separately) and accepts an industry-standard 2-prong plug, letting you reuse existing wiring or connectors without hassle. If you’re upgrading or replacing an older light, the pre-existing hole can often be used for easy fitment.
The integrated reflex reflector means one less part to install while still meeting visibility regulations. It boosts safety by reflecting light from other vehicles when your lights are off, so your trailer stays noticeable day or night without adding separate reflector mounts.
This P2-rated lamp projects light at a 45-degree angle to either side of the centerline for a total of 90 degrees. That makes it ideal for use as either a side marker or clearance light, giving you reliable coverage where it’s needed most while keeping the beam pattern sharp and compliant with DOT standards.

Today we're taking a look at the Peterson trailer clearance or side marker light with reflector. Now if you need to upgrade or replace your existing lights on your trailer, this is going to be a great fit. It's submersible, round, red lens light, so it'll work out great for any brake light function that you might want it to work for on the back of your trailer.If I can find the right angle there, you'll see that reflector allows the light to be visible even when it's not shining. So we'll have good visibility even on those times when we don't have our lights on. But on the back, we'll have our wiring connection to make to a two prong plug. Those are sold separately.
You can find them here at etrailer.com. It's just a little bullet plug there. Male end goes in, plugs right in place. Then we can turn on our light, and, as you can see a light up there for us.This is going to be an incandescent bulb, so it's just going to have that single bulb inside. And this is going to be a premium bulb design to make sure that it lasts for up to 15,000 hours.
So it should be a good long time for us. I don't think that you can get in to replace the bulb, again, since this is submersible, it's pretty sealed up. So once that bulb is no more, or it shorts out on you, then you probably have to replace the whole light. Something to keep in mind there.This is compatible with 12 volt DC systems. Turn that light back on, and I'll turn the lights off in the studio, you can see how bright that is.
So not terribly bright, but enough that will be visible at night. As far as the dimensions with this light, it's about 2-1/2 inches in diameter, and about 7/8 of an inch deep, going from the front to those back terminals there.This works with a grommet, also sold separately. You can find that here again, etrailer.com. Gives a little bit of road shock protection to our light. Kind of finishes it off, and this also is a mounting point.
We have a three inch diameter hole. This will actually seat in that, since it has this little lip here. Holds it in place. And overall just kind of makes our light look more official and nicer. Has the hole in the back to allow our wiring to come through.The light is DOT compliant, P2 rated and made in the USA. That's going to do it for our look at the Peterson trailer clearance or side marker light, with reflector.

These lights were exactly like the lights I had to replace on my boat trailer. I was able to easily select what I needed, and they shipped the same day. Installation was simple. I did have to use a mounting screw larger than the ones provided only because the existing screw holes were larger than the provided screws. I which I would have known about them sooner.
