Backing up in the dark doesn’t have to be a guessing game. This rectangular Optronics backup light uses a clear lens over a single incandescent bulb to throw strong, even light behind you. It runs on 12V DC power and draws 1.6 amps at 12.8V, giving you dependable illumination every time you shift into reverse. The light measures 5-5/16" long x 3-7/16" tall x 1-15/16" thick, so it fits neatly while still putting out plenty of brightness for safe maneuvering.
If your trailer or truck sees wet conditions, this light is built for it. The housing and lens are sonically sealed into one waterproof piece, keeping out moisture that could fog or corrode the bulb. Whether it’s road spray or full submersion at the boat ramp, the sealed design keeps the light dry inside and working like new.
Rough roads and heavy loads can rattle typical lights apart, but not this one. A shock-proof socket cushions the bulb from vibration impacts to help prevent failures. The tough polycarbonate housing and lens stand up to bumps and scrapes without cracking, making it a solid choice for trailers that see regular use on uneven ground or gravel paths.
Getting it mounted is straightforward thanks to its recessed, flush-mount layout. It fits into a grommet (A33GB – sold separately) and accepts an industry-standard 2-prong plug (A45CB or A49PB – sold separately). Once mounted, the finished look is clean and low-profile, with wiring that connects easily into existing setups for a tidy, professional finish.

Today we're going to review part number BU33CB. This is the Optronics sealed flash mount rectangle trailer back-up light with the clear lens. This is a clear rectangular trailer light that will function as your back-up light. It uses a sealed, waterproof housing and lens unit. It is corrosion resistant. On the inside, has a heavy-duty long-life bulb that's installed in a shockproof socket, which guarantees a long bulb life.
It does accept the industry standard, 2-prong plug. As you can see, this one has a 3-prong design but you can use a 2-prong plug on yours since this is only a back-up light. When you do mount this, it is flush mount design so it does require a mounting grommet and then a 2-wire pigtail to provide the power to the light. Those items are sold separately on our website. They are listed on this product page as a "related product". Just to show you, I wanted to show you first the grommet that is used and this we do sell separately.
It's part number A33GB. Basically, what you'll do is just go ahead and push your light in there. It pops into place. Then there's 2 different 2-prong pigtails. The first one is the straight 2-wire pigtail and that's part number A45CB. The straight one is designed to plug in.
It uses just the 2 connections, the ground and then the circuit for your reverse light. You go ahead and plug that in. The reason it's called the straight is because the wires will come out straight behind the light. Then the other option is this right angle to wire pigtail that's part number A49PB. The reason this one's a right angle is when you go to plug it in, you can see that the wires come out at a right angle from behind the light.
You can use either one, whichever will work in your application. I do want to give you a few dimensions on this. The overall length, edge to edge length is 5-5/16". The height from edge to edge is going to be right at 3-7/16" and then the depth on this is going to be right at about 2" deep. What I'm going to do is we're going to use one of these plugs. We're going to use the straight plug. I'm going to go ahead and plug it in and then we're going to hook these 2 wires up to 12-volt power just to show you how bright the back-up light is. The white wire will go to the ground and again, the red wire will go to the reverse light circuit. With those connected, I'm going to go turn off the overhead lights. I'm going to turn on the 12-volt power and apply the back-up light and you can see how bright the reverse light is. I'm going to turn the power; turn the lights back on. That should do it for the review on part number BU33CB. This is the Optronics sealed flash mount rectangle trailer back-up light with the clear lens. .

This reverse light was just what I needed. I have a Chevy 3500 can and chassis with a cm bed on it. I could find this light anywhere even on the cm website until I found it here.
