Question:
You have graciously put me on the right track wtih the 4-5 way adaptor, and I understand the video, but now how do I wire the lights from the four pole trailer plug? Thanks!

You would need to add a 5-Way flat trailer connector, # HM47910. Cut off the plug from your old 4-Way trailer connector and then attach the wires to the new 5-Way. On a 5-Way, trailer side, the covered plug is ground, next to that is the running light wire. Next to that will be the left turn/brake light wire. Second to last is the right turn/brake light wire. And at the far end is the wire you will be using for reverse lights.
You will need to run wire from the blue wire on the 5-Way connector back to one of the reverse lights. Connect it to the red wire in the # A45CB harness on the lights. The white wire on the harness needs to be grounded to the trailer frame. Then you will need to attach a jumper wire from the power wire on the reverse light that you just connected, over to the power wire on the harness for the reverse light on the other side of the trailer.
So basically, you have the wire coming back from the trailer plug, and it splits in 2. One wire powers the left light the other wire powers the right light. Make sure both are grounded to the trailer frame. For wire, you can use # 12-1-1, which is sold in 1 foot increments.
