The old idler hub's worn out and you're tired of all the play in your wheel. You pull it off, slide the new one on, and everything fits like it should. Bearings are packed and you're rolling straight without a second thought.
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Terran axle trailer idler hub assembly for 3,500-pound axles, and it's a five on five lug pattern. So folks, again, a complete hub replacement. Great to have if you're just wanting to keep an extra one as a spare, possibly, in your toolbox, or to change out one where something went wrong. And includes pre-matched inner and outer bearings, the grease seal, the dust cap with plug for straightforward installation.
Now, as I mentioned, this is a five on five lug, and the way you would do that is on an odd pattern, you would measure from the center of one stud directly across in between the center of the two adjacent studs. In this case, you're gonna get exactly five inches. So make sure you're checking, especially if it's an odd lug pattern, to be sure you're getting the right one the first time. Now this is durable, designed to handle up to 3,500 pounds for dependable trailer performance, and it does come pre-greased as far as that back bearing and the seal. So that's your inner bearing and your seal.
And then of course, your outer bearing here, you would just grease up, put it in place, slide the hub on, and then of course, you have your grease cap with the rubber plug, again, for those EZ Lube spindles or easy grease trailer axles. Typically this is gonna fit a 14 to 15-inch wheel size. The studs are 1/2 inch, and of course you have the lug nuts as well. So everything here has been precision machined, giving you a secure fit. It has a corrosion resistant finish to help prevent rust and ensure longevity for you.
And the pre-greased bearing is gonna help speed things up for whenever you're putting everything together. Well, folks, that is gonna wrap it up for our quick look together at this Terran axle trailer idler hub assembly for 3,500-pound axles, a five on five lug pattern. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.
