Features to know about

Confident Hookups: EZ-Latch Coupler That Locks Itself In

The EZ-Latch coupler on this actuator takes the guesswork out of connecting your trailer. You don’t have to hold the latch open or wiggle it to get it to drop into place. Just lower the coupler onto your 2" hitch ball and listen for the click. The latch locks automatically and holds tight, so you can see and feel that it’s ready to go. The nylon-composite handle has a low-profile design that won’t snag or bend if something bumps it, and it’s strong enough to take a hit without breaking.

Smooth, Quiet Braking: Self-Lubricating Inner Liner

Inside the actuator, a heavy-duty steel housing rides on an acetal copolymer liner. This hard plastic surface is self-lubricating, so the moving parts glide instead of scrape. That means your braking stays consistent and quiet, even after years of use. The liner also protects against wear and binding, keeping your surge system working smoothly every time you slow down or stop.

Built to Last in Harsh Conditions: 200-Hour Zinc Plating

The body of this actuator is plated with zinc that holds up against corrosion twice as long as standard coatings. With a 200-hour salt spray rating, it handles wet or salty environments with ease. That makes it ideal for boat trailers or any rig that sees a lot of water. The heavy-duty steel frame gives it an 8,000 lb gross towing weight and 800 lb maximum tongue weight rating, while the built-in 4" drop helps you line up perfectly with your tow setup.

Reliable Hydraulic Power: Composite Master Cylinder with Large Reservoir

The glass-reinforced nylon master cylinder won’t rust or pit like metal ones. It has an automotive-style diaphragm cap that seals out moisture and dirt, keeping brake fluid clean. The large reservoir gives you more capacity to prevent running low on long hauls or heavy stops. Together, these features deliver strong, consistent braking for disc brake systems without needing a separate brake controller.

Ready for Easy Mounting: 3" Channel Bolt-On Design

This actuator bolts directly onto a 3" wide trailer tongue using 1/2" x 4-1/2" Grade-5 bolts (not included). It needs about 18" of space on the tongue and 2"–4" clearance behind the master cylinder for your brake line fitting. The bolt pattern matches standard three-hole setups, so it’s straightforward to install and get back on the road fast.

Good Item

by:

very little use so far but all is working good I am very happy with my purchase

by:

The product is awesome as is everything I have purchased from you in the past. As for the packaging...less than adequate by far. Luckily the product wasn't damaged. The box was destroyed and had been taped up by (I'm assuming) the carrier. No harm, no foul but putting a heavy object with sharp edges loosely in a box will never fare well. Packaging dept. needs a slap!

by:

Order part and came in a timely matter. This is the second time ordering this for 2 trailers and no complaints. Thank you.

by:

Thanks!! What a great experience with etrailer.com. Trailer needed many parts, rusted, broken etc. Tried to contact maker of trailer for replacement parts, bad experience. Rude, unwilling to help, handling fees, VERY expensive shipping, and cash up front. I then turned to etrailer.com! Fantastic people on the line, sales personal were Kind, patient, and very knowledgeable about all my trailer needs. My parts arrived quickly, free shipping, and accurate. Not to mention I saved a bunch of money!!!! New Break System from front to back, new Trailer Winch. Thanks, Customer for life!

Considering the era and the delivery was my fault, I have to say I had extraordinary help with the young lady. I forgot her name but she did a very good job assisting me and my package had finally arrived so thank you all very much.o

Needed this product ASAP to fix a trailer that needed to be back on the road. Received on time as promised and worked amazingly well. Thank you so much for saving my butt! Keep up the great work!

by:

everything worked just as advertised. installation was pretty striate forward. I had to make a few changed to hydraulic lines but all worked fine.

by:

The products I received were of good quality and were bolt on replacement for what was originally on my trailer. Very pleased.

The brake actuator is still working properly

Perfect fit. I replaced an old DA 91. Shipped fast and i sturdy packaging. Thank you ETrailer!!

by:

Did not fit my trailer tong as it was not 3"sq. Quality of product is good, E trailer service is fantastic great people to work with, arrival time was as stated. My trailer Is not standard and brake assembly is no longer made for this tong. They did make some suggestions but I was able to find another supplier who had rebuild kit. The cost was much higher. Returns were easy. I use e-trailer as my first go to.

  • Recommended Replacement for Tie Down Engineering (TDE) Brake Actuator 48980
The Tie Down Engineering (TDE) Brake Actuator 48980 also known as the 80LP/85LP is a 8,000 lb or 8,500 lb disc brake actuator with 2" coupler. In order to replace this, the best option we have is the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator part # DM8669113 which is rated for use with disc brakes, has an 8,000 lb weight capacity, and uses a 2" hitch ball. It also has a built-in drop which helps you match the tow vehicle height better.

  • Replacement Brake Actuator With 2" Coupler For Demco Kar Kaddy
Hey Aaron, I confirmed with Kar Kaddy that Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Drop - Disc - Zinc - 2" Ball - 8,000 lbs # DM8669113 is the correct replacement actuator with 2" coupler for the Demco Kar Kaddy SS Tow Dolly with Disc Brakes - Foldable - 4,800 lbs # DM9713045 and Demco Kar Kaddy X Tow Dolly w/ Disc Brakes - Tilt Bed Frame - 4,800 lbs - Wide Tread # DM9713093. If you happen to have an older model then let me know, but this should be what you are needing.

  • How to Fix Swaying Demco DM8669113 Kar Kaddy SS Tow Dolly
Demco doesn't sell the Acetyl copolymer lining used in their # DM8669113 brake actuator as a separate item. I spoke with my Demco representative who said that the lining wouldn't have any influence on a swaying # DM9713045 Kar Kaddy SS car dolly. The lining's purpose is to allow the brake actuator to move smoothly back and forth so it wouldn't have any affect on the tow dolly swaying. Is this occurring with the tow dolly empty? Demco tells me that when towing empty, you'll need to insert...

  • Recommended Actuator to Replace my Knott Trailer Actuator
Thanks for reaching out Michael, There's few things we want to know to ensure you get the correct replacement. What is the current Hitch ball size 2" or 2-5/16"? Does the actuator bolt or weld on to the trailer? What is the mounting bolt pattern and/or spacing? What's the trailer weight capacity? Does your current actuator have a reverse lockout solenoid? If you'd like to send a few photos of the current actuator, the mounting area and any model, serial number or stickers (if they’re...

  • Replacement for TDE LP8000 Brake Actuator
Hey Rick! I'm sorry to say there are no replacement parts that will fit the old actuator. Any inner member or other parts from other brands wouldn't line up correctly in that housing for an easy swap. The only solution is to remove it and install a new brake actuator like the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Drop - Disc # DM8669113. It is probably worth looking around to see if there are any parts or rebuild kits still floating around out there first since cutting that off and replacing...

  • Is The Demco Surge Brake Actuator With Slide-Lok Coupler DM8509202 Available For Disc Brakes?
Hi Jacob! The Demco Surge Brake Actuator - Drum - Primed - 2" Slide-Lok Coupler # DM8509202 is pretty unique with that style coupler and is only available for drum brakes. I do have another option that is pretty similar that you might be interested in though: Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Drop - Disc - Zinc - 2" Ball - 8,000 lbs # DM8669113 This has a different coupler, which I think is much easier to use, but you could swap that out for something like the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler...

We don't offer an 8500 lb rated surge coupler, but we might have options that would work for you. If the GVWR (weight of trailer plug boat) is 8000 lbs or less, I'd recommend the Demco item # DM8669113 if your trailer has disc brakes or item # DM8669112 for a drum brake aactuator.

  • Troubleshooting Disc Brakes with Aero-6000 on Four Winns Boat Trailer Dragging/Overheating
The #17 nut that you are referring to for your Aero-6000 actuator (similar to part # T63FR) looks like it simply helps to keep the latch in place. If you are having problems with your brakes dragging and overheating then either your disc brakes/caliper need to be cleaned, your breakaway cable has been activated, or the internal components of your actuator are needing replacement. If you check your brakes/calipers and breakaway cable isn't activated then the only internal components that...

  • What Actuator is Needed for Hydraulic Disc Brakes with 1,500 psi Rating Requirement
Great question! You are correct that disc brakes, like part # K2HR526D, for your 5,200 - 6,000 lb trailer (or for any trailer for that matter) require a surge brake actuator with at least a 1,500 psi rating. The good news is that all of our hydraulic actuators that are designed for disc brakes, like the Demco # DM62VR, are rated for at least 1,500 psi so you're good to go on that end. Since you're only using the boat for fresh water you don't have to be as concerned about corrosion, but...

The Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator part # DM8669113 for 2" or part # DM8758811 for 2-5/16" are the only disc brake actuators we have that can be manually locked out using the Manual Reverse Lockout Kit for Demco Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuators part # DM5939. They both have a 8,000 lb weight capacity and come with the eZ-Latch coupler mechanism so they should work well for you.

  • Trailer Tongue Length Required to Install Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator
I reached out to a representative of Demco who told me that the outer case of the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8669113 needs 18" of space on the trailer tongue to bolt on. Additionally, you will need between 2" and 4" of clearance behind the actuator to get the brake line attached to the master cylinder. You will need only 2" if you have a pre-bent brake line/hose with a 90 degree fitting or 4" if you have a straight hose or hard line that needs to make the 90 degree bend.
