When both trailer axles need replacing, having the major components already together makes a big job more manageable. This kit includes two 7,000-lb straight-spindle axles with brakes, hub-and-drum assemblies, and leaf springs already mounted.
Replacing both axles can quickly turn into a parts hunt when you also need brakes, hubs, and springs to finish the job. This kit gives you 2 axle assemblies, with each one including the axle beam, hub-and-drum assemblies, electric drum brakes, and leaf springs. Those major components come mounted on the axles, so you can spend less time piecing together individual parts and focus on getting your trailer back on the road.
Starting with a bare axle beam means adding the brakes, hubs, and springs before you can get very far into the replacement. These straight-spindle axles arrive with the hub-and-drum assemblies, 12" x 2" self-adjusting electric drum brakes, and 6-leaf springs already mounted. More of the assembly work is handled before the axles reach your trailer, leaving you with fewer major components to put together separately.
Getting the right capacity only helps if the axle dimensions match your trailer. Each axle measures 82" from hub face to hub face with 64" between the spring centers, giving you two critical measurements to compare with your existing setup before you start pulling parts. The included 6-leaf slipper springs are rated for 4,000 lbs each and measure 29.5" from eye to hook, giving you another point of comparison when checking your suspension setup.
Replacing an axle is already a substantial job without adding separate brake and hub assembly to the list. Each axle includes 12" x 2" self-adjusting electric drum brakes and hub-and-drum assemblies with an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern and 9/16"-18 wheel studs. An 18" 18GA pigtail is also prewired on the left-hand road side, putting more of the brake setup in place before you start connecting the new axles to your trailer.
Bearing service is part of keeping your trailer rolling, and convenient grease access makes routine maintenance a little easier to manage. Super-Lube spindles place grease zerks at the end of each spindle behind dust caps with rubber plugs, giving you direct access to the fittings when it's time to lubricate the bearings.
