Features to know about

Struggling with Traction in Snow and Ice: Diamond Pattern with 3.2 mm Square Links Grips Firmly

When roads are slick with snow or light ice, these chains bite in and keep you moving. The diamond pattern gives you constant contact with the road for steady traction, while the 3.2 mm square links dig in for grip without making the ride bumpy. It’s a great balance of traction and smooth handling when conditions get unpredictable.

Tired of Crawling on the Ground to Hook Chains: Automatic Self-Tensioning System Does the Work

No need to fight with connections behind your tires. Just stretch the Snox Pro over your tires and drive off—the chains automatically tighten and center themselves as you go. When you stop, the tensioners release, and you can remove them quickly with the built-in quick-release latch. It’s one of the easiest installs you’ll find for real-world winter use.

Worried About Damaging Your Wheels: Anti-Scratch Bumpers Protect Rims

Many people buy these specifically to protect nice alloy or premium wheels, and it shows. Each chain has built-in anti-scratch bumpers that prevent metal-on-metal contact, so your rims stay clean and unmarred even after miles of use in snowy conditions.

Driving a Car with Tight Wheel-Well Clearance: Class S Compatible Design Fits Where Others Can’t

If your vehicle doesn’t have much clearance around the tires, these chains are built for exactly that. They meet SAE Class S standards, which means they fit safely in restricted spaces without rubbing or binding. That’s peace of mind for drivers of modern cars where every millimeter counts.

Want Chains That Last Season After Season: Nickel Manganese Alloy Steel Resists Corrosion

The pewag Snox Pro chains are built from nickel manganese alloy steel that holds up to road salt, moisture, and repeated winter use. The case-hardening process strengthens the outer layer for extra wear resistance while keeping the inner core tough and flexible. Dry them after each trip, and they’ll be ready whenever snow hits again.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

We used these chains going up to Truckee and they were the easiest chains we’ve ever installed. Highly recommended!

by:

While installing the chains for the first time, the tensioner on one of the chains broke. Thankful it happened before I was in a snow storm on a mountain. etrailer was great to work with. Issued my return and refund.

by:

It was my first time buying tire chains, and I'm glad I got them when I did. Practicing three times was enough to learn to put them on and off quickly. I drove through two blizzards with the chains. I also risked going through snow without them and got stuck, so I had to shovel my way out and try to put the chains on, which was not easy. Eventually, when I got them on, I quickly got out of the parking lot I got myself stuck in. I recommend getting them if you're expecting heavy snow because you can feel the traction, and your confidence level when on the snow is very high.

These chains are amazing to say the least. 2012 GMC Terrain never needed to put chains on it, but we decided to take it on a snow trip. I have used chains in the past on other vehicles and all have been so hard to put on, on so many different levels. It made me hate to have to use them. Now the Pewag Snox Pro are the best chains I have ever used. WOW!!! They were on in less than 5-10 minutes and then taking them off was even easier. One snap of the lock, a few rough tugs, and pulled forward. Shook them of and packed them back up in the awesome case. Smooth ride considering I had chains on and great traction on snow and ice! I did not know I could love chains so much!

Am an elder, live in So Cal mountains. Easy for me, at 74yrs, to install on my 2020 Subaru Forester. Thank you for good product, understandable video and great customer service.

by:

Easy to put on! I have a 2023 Toyota Sienna with original tires 235/60R18 and the pewag RS80 fit perfectly. The pictograph instructions were easy to follow and the chains were quick to get on during my test fit. The instructions being in plastic could be helpful if they get wet and I really like the self tensioning aspect of these chains.

A few notes from the Toyota Sienna manual

1. "Vehicles with 17-inch or 18- inch tires Use SAE Class “S” type radial tire chains....Vehicles with 20-inch tires Tire chains cannot be mounted. Snow tires should be used instead."
-These Pewag tire chains are "s" type and the low clearance fit my 18" wheels easily.

2. "The tire pressure warning valves and transmitters may not function correctly when tire chains are fitted."
-If your vehicle cant read your tire pressure and you have chains on...no big deal.

I really liked the ease with which these chains went on and I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform in the snow.

Fit snugly. Will be a little difficult in the snow but with a pair of gloves on it is doable. The red plastic rim protectors would protect rim from metal on metal contact. However, with my M-sport rims and Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires, the red plastic doesn't even come into contact with the rim due to the extended lip of the tire...but this does mean that the chain touches the outside surface of the tire--see pics. A little off putting scarring the sticky looking surface of the tire...but it is inevitable.

On the inside of the wheel/tire, my concern was contact with the knuckle, strut, end link, stabilizer, etc. It does get close to the stabilizer end link, but doesn't touch...my pictures are shown before self centering while driving...so the spacing to end link would only get greater as I installed in worst case scenario to compare.

I drive a 1996 Corvette and have for the past 20 years - year round. And that makes driving near impossible in Connecticut winters and hilly terrains. Until I got my Pewag chains. When the snow accumulates, on go my Pewags and away I go. Snow covered roads, no problem, up and down hills, no problem. I can put my Pewags on both tires in less than ten minutes and I am good to go. Great product! I highly recommend Pewag chains.

by:

I have yet to actually use them but the installation isn't too tricky or complex. Just make sure to follow the instructions on a dry run or two before you think you'll need them ;-)

by:

These are not easy to install with the wheel on the ground on a VW Jetta. I jacked up the car so there was plenty of room to work, and I could spin the tire to make the needed adjustments. Still not easy, but not bad. They work well, or at least as well as I need them to.

by:

My Mazda 3's tires are right at the top of the size range, 215/45/R18, and the tire chains fit! It was a bit hard to get them on, though. After fitting the chains loosely, we were struggling to lock the final hooks.

To lock the hooks, we ended up using one of the spare chains that came in the packaging to bridge that final 1-2 inches. Then, we drove a couple inches forward (until the we could hear the self tensioner click a couple times), and that gave us enough slack to connect the hooks without the spare chain.

I do not recommend using the spare chain to actually drive, unless they're professionally welded/attached, but they were super helpful for fitting the chains properly.

Image shows the chains mounted and the hooks properly attached, but with the auto-tensioner off.

by:

I am not very handy and have no intention of installing my chains on the side of the interstate myself if I can help it. I chose these because they are self-tensioning and can be put on without laying on the ground to install them. I tested installing them twice at home, so I am ready in case of emergency when I visit the seirra's this winter.

Very good chain. Loved it.

by:

They are easy to put on and very durable, glad to have them anytime snowy conditions hit in our So. Cal mountains!

by:

Haven't had to use them. Bought them because I had crappy stock tires on my AWD Subaru, got these specifically so that if I did have to use them they would not scratch my premium wheels.

I now have better tires, probably won't ever need them but have them just in case chain control is absurd.

by:

We are very pleased with the high quality of the tire chains. We haven't needed to use them yet but are confident they will work well.

by:

I am very satisfied with these snow chains, made in Austria, super high quality, self tensioned .e trailer rocks like always. Thank you very much!

by:

This company, etrailer, definitely understands customer service. Answered my calls on Sunday, also did two follow up calls one before item was shipped and one after the item was shipped as well as a follow up email. Help with expediting my order. Will order from etrailer again. It's all about service when you can buy an item from other suppliers. This company defines service. That's rare today.

by:

Excellent install instructions. For tire chains, easy to install, use, remove, store.

by:

I can tell by looking at these Pewag tire chains that they are very high quality. Excellent craftsmanship! I haven't used them yet because it hasn't snowed but I rest assured knowing I have some of the best made tire chains out there.

by:

I have just purchased these chains for my 2015 forester. In trying them out in my warm driveway, I have some observations.

1. First of all, it is great to not have to close some link in the back of the tire when installing chains...YAY!.
2. The carrying case is nice but was missing one zipper tab
3. In putting them on, the bungee cord is not that easy to stretch so the installer will need some arm strength to get it into place.
4. Once on, they were easy to get off.

Overall, I like them

by:

My first attempt at putting on the snow chains was easy, but I could NOT remove them. I looked at the customer reviews and everyone said removal was easy. Needless to say, all the reviews came from men. Becky from customer service suggested that the quick release latch be at the top of the tire during removal. This did the trick! I now have a set of good quality snow chains that I can put on and take off by myself when I take my grandkids to the snow. Etrailer has super fast delivery & great customer service!

by:

By design the installation and removal of this set of chains was quick and easy not to mention the great handling on the 2inches of compacted snow. They performed well on the ice as well once we were at a lower elevation level coming out of Mammoth.

When traveling through Mammoth these chains allowed us to go through ICE and snow with ease in our 2005 Toyota family minivan. They were more convenient to store and install than others I’ve tried in the past. Even though everything wears out over use this set is still holding up well and was worth the investment.

by:

Purchased these chains for a trip to the snow and for future use after buying a new vehicle. The chains were received promptly in a well designed carrying case, with a mat, gloves, and instructions for mounting the chains. I haven't had to use them = a Subaru Forester is a great AWD vehicle and handled some pretty dicey conditions with no issue - but carry them and feel confident I can mount and dismount them quickly. Instructions are clear and simple to follow.

  • Tire Chains for 2023 Ford Transit T350 With 205/75R16 Tires
Hey Robert! It looks like you already found the pewag Snox Pro Tire Chains # PWSXP570. These are confirmed to fit your 205/75R16 tires. Make sure you consult your owner's manual for any restrictions on tire chain use. These are Class S compatible so they're designed for limited clearance and will likely work on your Transit. If you don't have anything in the manual for that particular tire size I do recommend measuring for clearance just to be sure. These will fit if you have a minimum...

You would need to consult the owners manual of your vehicle to verify if there are any tire chain restrictions.

By far, the best class S chains for a 225/60R17 tire are the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit - Size K45 # TH02230K45. These chains have ice breakers, have zero clearance needed on the inside and are self adjusting. These are the best of the best whether you needed class s chains or not. • Tire Chains that Can Fit Tire Sizes 235/55R19 and 225/50R18
The Pewag tire chains part # PWSXP570 actually do not fit either of the tire sizes you mentioned. For the 235/55R19 of the Audi you could use the pewag Brenta-C part # PWXMR80V. This does not fit the 225/50R18 size though so for that you could use the Konig set part # TH01221104 for the most similar set. Tire chains fit a really narrow size range which is why one size does not fit all unfortunately.
