When extra weight up front causes sag and throws off steering or braking, these SumoSprings Solo helper springs step in to help. With a 900-lb capacity and up to 1,800 lbs of support at 50-percent compression, they help your front suspension stay level and stable under load. The microcellular urethane material cushions bumps and absorbs shocks so handling stays confident and headlights stay properly aimed.
Every bump feels different depending on how much weight you carry. These helper springs use progressive load control that compresses easily for light loads and firms up as the weight increases—up to 80 percent compression for heavy loads. That means a smooth, comfortable ride when unloaded and solid stability when carrying extra gear or equipment.
When one side of the vehicle hits a dip or curve, these springs work independently to keep each side planted. They help reduce body roll during sharp turns and keep your ride steady through uneven road surfaces or off-center loads. The end result is a more controlled feel on highways, mountain roads, or uneven driveways.
Built from durable microcellular urethane, these springs resist oils, road salts, abrasion, and UV damage while performing in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F. They compress vertically with minimal lateral expansion so they won’t rub against nearby parts. With no tubing, air pressure, or adjustments to worry about, you get consistent performance with a simple no-drill installation that’s ready to go once mounted.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for the front axle. The helper springs upgrade your vehicle's front suspension for improved driver control and comfort. These are designed to support heavy front-end loads to keep your vehicle level. They also help absorb bumps and shocks, and they drastically help minimize sway. Now, these are designed to fit a wide range of vehicles. So these are designed some trucks, SUVs, motor homes, RVs.
So to ensure that this is a fit for your vehicle, whatever you may have, definitely be sure to run your specific year, make, and model through the Vehicle Fit Guide at etrailer.com to ensure that this will work for your particular application. Now, the unit also features progressive load control. So these springs will compress according to the weight of your cargo. So for instance, on lighter loads, these springs actually compress easily at first, which allows for nice, soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. And then for heavier loads these are able to compress by as much as 80 percent, offering maximum support. And these springs are designed to work independently from one another, so that way they compensate for off-center loads and they help reduce body roll during sharp turns.
They're made from a durable microcellular urethane. They work in temperatures anywhere from -25 Fahrenheit to +200 Fahrenheit. And they are designed to resist damage typically caused by oils, road salts, and UV rays. Now, with these installed, they feature minimal lateral expansion. So what that means is these springs actually compress vertically instead of off to the sides, so they aren't easily damaged when operating in tight spaces. And they're completely maintenance-free.
My favorite feature about these is, once they're installed, you forget about them. You never have to worry about them. You don't have to do any maintenance to them. And there's no tubing to run. There's no air pressure to monitor, like with air springs.
You just, you install them and you forget about them. It's a simple, no-drill installation. This point right here simply fits into a retention cup or a socket, and you press it until it seats all the way. With this part number, you get two jounce-style springs. They're made in the USA. They measure 3 14" tall, and the diameter at the widest point is 3 1/16". When it comes to the weight capacity, at 50 percent compression, they're rated at 1,800 lbs. just keep in mind that the SumoSprings will not increase your vehicle's weight-carrying capacity. That's going to do it for today's look at the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for the front axle.

Sumo Springs really helped with the bumps in the front of the 2019 Ford E350 Winnebago! Very happy with them. Super easy install even though a bit awkward to reach the spot.
Sumo springs greatly reduced body sway on my 2021 Mercedes Sprinter.
these look like the perfect thing for my tired old helper springs, I put SumoSprings on my rear axel of my Jeep a year ago and the have made that ride much better hoping for the same with these.
Installed Sumo Springs on my 2019 Chevy 4500 motorhome, I was looking for ride improvement without breaking the bank. These days so many products are marketed well but never match the performance that was promised. That is not the case with Sumo Springs!!! I am very pleased with the ride improvement, sway is gone when transitioning from different levels of pavement and the shock of bumps is 50% better!! Installed myself on front and back in about 1 hour, front ended up about 3/8” higher after a couple days, got front end alignment done but didn’t need any adjustment. Finished a 400 mile road day today and my wife and I are very pleased. Excellent product!!
I’ve made several purchases from eTrailer and have been satisfied every time! Recently bought front and rear Sumo helper springs. Installation was a breeze. They have helped reduce the side to side sway caused by wind, freeway traffic and rough roads. So far im very happy with them.
Installed front Sumosprings yesterday but have not driven vehicle yet. The front have full contact with the A-frames.
Should help with van side-to-side sway.
Shopping around for a set to install on the rear as well.
These Sumo springs (as well as the ones I purchased for the rear of my RV) installed easily, fit perfectly and do a great job reducing vibration and improving ride quality. Very pleased.
2006 Dodge Ram 3500 SRW 5.9 Cummins 4x2
Original bump stops were dry rotted and almost not existent. Very easy install. Took about 30 minutes. The Sumo springs are engaged all the time. This may be due to the truck being a 4x2? You can feel the front end is stiffer over bumps and dips of the road, which I feel is ok and not extreme. Towing the 5th wheel I feel the truck handles better than before.
Ordering and delivery was quick and easy. The SumoSprings really improved the ride of our C Class RV. The only problem was one of the springs had cross threaded threads so I had to tap the treads to make it work. They were delivered in a plain brown box with no manufacture information or instructions. It makes believe the were a returned item, the previous purchaser couldn't get them to work either. I just had the tools and skill to correct the problem.
I recently purchased/installed SumoSprings for the front axle on my 2018 Thor Freedom Elite 28FE. Having previously purchased/installed SumoSprings for the rear axle I have to say that the overall improvement in ride/handling has exceeded my expectations. As always, etrailer provided valuable insights and prompt inquiries to my questions. The level of in-depth product knowledge amongst the etrailer staff is second to none. Thanks etrailer!
I have a Workhorse W22 chassis. I installed steering dampeners and HD sway bar to reduce the "loose" steering. After installing the SumoSprings Front Spring helpers on the front end, 90% of the looseness on the front end disappeared. It is now a pleasure to drive. Very little sway from passing trucks and cross winds. I will be installing a set on the rear this year.
Super easy to install maybe 30 minutes for all 4
Fronts were done from above with wheel turned full right or left and load off that side with jack, rears jack to take off load only used large flat head screw drive to remove replace
improved side to side roll/sway ride is firmer went with the black capacity maybe yellow on rear if loads increase
Product is great, exceeded my expectations. Install is simple and straightforward. It’s a night and day difference in both the body roll and the handling small bumps all the way up to off-road conditions.
What most new RV owners don't know is that the chassis that their new mobile home sits on barely has the equipment to support that new home. Adding SumpSprings is going to improve your ride and help support the structure of your home. FYI, use a jack on the leaf springs to help align the holes on the bracket to the ones on the frame.
Very easy to install on my Chevy Express 4500.
It's difficult to tell as I have not yet driven my Van fully Loaded up.
Works as advertised.. Glad we added them for a much improved ride..
Easy installation, ride and handling im provement.
Your rep Shawnee recommended these. Thank you. I was looking for something that would take the hard rattle out of my Class C’s front end. It did the trick and they were so easy to install. If you ever have questions call their support line. They always have a good handle on their products.
First off, these won't fix worn out suspension components, they are designed to improve ride quality by reducing sag/porpoising, especially on heavier vehicles.
Our 2010 Roadtrek 210P (75k miles) is a great rv but essentially a big heavy tub going down the road. Has the tendency to lean and wallow front to back. New shocks and all suspension is good, as mentioned make sure that stuff is all in good shape.
Pics show the oem stops vs the SS stops. Big difference - you may assume ride gets harsh but not the case. The oem stops were very tired and didn't do much. The preload on the new SS stops is just about perfect - any weight changes are very progressive which takes the harshness out of the ride. I didn't really see any change to ride height either.
Road manners are improved, there's a bit more resistance to lean, but the main difference is that the front end doesn't try to change height as readily with the back end.
Not a big deal to install. Youbdont need to pull the wheels, just turn them side to side to get to the stops. Pop out the old stops and clean the retaining cups with a wire brush and some brake clean. I used syl-glyde on the new stops to help get them into place. I also used a crowbar under the stop to push it into the cup while making sure the 4 tabs captured the top of the stop. Final step was to lower the van and give it a drive, then check to ensure the fit was good. The key here is to clean the cup first and use a bit of lube on the new stop.
Very pleased and I'll be installing SS on the back end soon. Yup, they're pricey but they are good quality with a limited lifetime warranty.

A year later, all is great. The SS on the front are solid performers, combined with an airlift airbag system on the rear and new coil springs on the front for a slight increase in ride height. Ride, stability and control are greatly improved.
