Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have an INNO roof rack system. We'll take a look at how it fits, how it looks, and how it installs on our 2022 Dodge Durango. So why would you get a roof rack system Well, if you wanna carry around fun accessories and maybe expand your cargo space with a roof box or roof basket, or you wanna carry around kayaks or long ladders, first you need a base for those accessories. This is gonna be the roof rack system from INNO. This is gonna be the shorter length with the 54 and 57 inch bars, and it has some pros and cons to that. It is gonna be a little bit more sleek compared to the wider range, and with how INNO has the different bar sizes you also have a more custom look on the car.
So let's take a look at how that works out. The main perks of an INNO roof rack system is, there's two main features for me. One is the end caps, and I really like the shiny end caps on the through feet, but then the other one is the security which is also end caps but for the tower. So some brands do not have it included and you have to purchase separately. INNO has the lock cores included.
You can see here with the end cap on one, how it covers that system, and the end cap on the other off shows where you can take it off or put it back on. It is custom fit for your Dodge Durango though, so you cannot move it back and forth. So quick taking quick measurement for crossbar spread. I have it at about 28 1/4 inches apart center to center, which still fits most accessories. The roof of a Dodge Durango actually is not square, it tapers.
So because of that INNO has two different crossbar sizes to make it look like it's even. So in the front is a 57 inch long bar, in the back is a 54 inch long bar. You can see here that they have very similar overhang. So measuring for overhang, we go from the end cap to the tower, and that's going to be an inch, which honestly isn't that much. You can get the longer version which has 60 inches and then 57 inches, and that will give you about three inches of overhang.
So not that much more, but this makes it easier to reach, easier to clamp things around. Here, if you wanted to utilize this area, use a T-track channel. The T-channel is this track up top. When you push down on the rubber strip, you're able to push another accessory through and then you can clamp things even on the end of your crossbar, making it a lot more accessible. Covering that channel is this end cap. So you can actually just pop these right off and then you have access to that channel. I also like the end caps because they are pretty sleek. In fact, this is the end cap or roof rack system that I have on my own car. Some other measurements that are important is roof clearances, and there's two measurements there. The first is height from the top of the roof to the bottom of the crossbar. I have it at around 2 3/4 inches, and that's how much space you have for clamps to go around. So it's kind of low profile, but still plenty of clamps for most clamps. Just be mindful those that have like U bolts and wing nuts and make sure that they don't scratch up your roof. Next is gonna be roof height or roof rack height. And I have it at about, hmm, just past 3 3/4, almost four inches, and that's where your cargo sits. So let's say you're carrying skis with extra tall bindings, you would make sure that they clear your roof and they don't scratch it up. Especially, since the front crossbar, it goes over your glass roof, you wanna double check those clearances. So if you are shopping for a roof rack for your Durango, please use our fit guide here at etrailer.com where you put your year make model at the top of the page because then we have entire kits custom fit for your car. With an INNO roof rack system it's kind of tricky to purchase it separately because you have different size bars, you have the towers, and you have the fit kit. We do all that work for you. And the kit includes all the tools you need to tighten it down from the wrenches, to the keys, and even the tape measure. So let's take a look at that process. I can guide you through the install of our roof rack, and I know it might look a little strange at first because there's plates, and bolts, and hooks, and pads, but it's actually pretty simple once you know what you're doing. So I already have one crossbar set up. We will set up the second crossbar together. Get your crossbar, and first we're going to take off the end caps if they are on there, and then we are going to set up these plates. Notice how this slides out. So keep pushing this out until you have that open tray. So get the plate and look for the notch as well as the lip, and then you go from underneath. Bring this up and into that tray flush so we can slide it back through and bring it back through. We may have to press this button over here. Continue sliding. Now, get your tower and notice how this has a bolt as well as these tabs. So if you have it facing out this way, this can fit over that plate. Set this onto the plate and just feel it sit flush. Now we're gonna slide it back out. So to do so, you're gonna have to press on the lever where you have your hook for later on in this video. As you press the lever, you'll be able to slide your tower out. And this gets tightened down with an Allen key, but you're not gonna need the Allen key just yet 'cause you need to get your measurements. Now that those towers are through you can just pop those end caps right back on. With your kit, you are going to have this paper tape measure, and INNO does give measurements in millimeters as well as inches. So we're just gonna use the millimeters 'cause it's slightly more accurate. So we're going to go to the rear measurement. So we are gonna measure from the center to the tower. Your base point is gonna be this line on your tower and that needs to be lined up with your tape measure. Tighten these towers down. There is a bolt at the center where you took your measurements, and this Allen key is included. Next we put the pads onto the towers. We're just gonna fit this in since we have tabs that kind of snap into them. Notice the way that it's angled and where the number is on the tower. So where would you put your crossbars Well, there are measurements from your door where you put the front and rear crossbars. So we're gonna go 150 millimeters this way and 550 millimeters that way. You do have stickers included with your kit too to mark your spot for your crossbars. I don't use them because we're gonna put this on a bunch of different vehicles. So gently place your crossbars to the spot you have measured out. And this is gonna fit into the gap on your roof, but there will be a gap in between the pad and the front lip. To secure the towers, you then use the hooks. So these hooks fit into that door jamb and there are different hooks. So for the front you're gonna use 122, they're written right at the top, and for the rear you're gonna use 121. So fit this over, get your bolt. It's gonna have a plastic washer and then a metal washer, and then thread the bolt onto the tower. We're gonna hand tighten for now. Tighten down with your included torque tool. This is a torque tool because it's set to three Newton meters. So once you get to enough tension it will click just like that, and now you can put your end caps onto your towers to secure them. Turn the key to lock and double check it's secure. So personal thoughts about this roof rack system is I like how it looks. I think that the end caps look really sleek and the through feet make it easier for you to load things onto your roof, especially since the Durango is a taller vehicle. I personally though, would recommend getting the longer bars with a 60 and 57 inch option just because with it being taller, it would be easier to reach up there and load things onto the roof, and you would then be able to take advantage of the overhang. Now it's gonna be a very similar process for installing those bars. It just looks different. So if you like this roof rack system because of its features, its inclusions, and how it looks on your vehicle you can get either the shorter or the longer version. If you're looking for something else though, maybe you have other accessories and you want to match those up. There's also a Yakima roof rack, or a Thule roof rack, or a Rhino-Rack roof rack that is a fit for your vehicle if you have those accessories. But all in all I think the INNO roof rack system is a solid choice. And that was a look at our INNO roof rack system with a 54 and 57 inch long bars and our INNO through feet all on our custom fit kit for the 2022 Dodge Durango.
